Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, let’s be honest with each other. Right now, 5th Street is flat. I mean, really flat. We’re looking at a solid stretch of nothing here for the next week and a half. From Monday the 6th all the way through to Thursday the 16th, the waves are tiny, weak, and the wind’s usually all wrong. It’s a real bummer.
The water temp is sitting at 77°, which is a massive 6° warmer than it should be for July – that’s way out of the ordinary, feels more like a tropical lagoon than a typical surf zone.
Honestly, there's not a single standout session in this whole forecast. The only time the ocean even blinks is on Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th. On Friday morning, we get a tiny little pulse of 3 ft swell from the SSE, with a period around 7 seconds. The combined energy is low (68). But look, the wind goes offshore from the WNW, light to moderate, so it’ll be clean. It’s surfable, but it’s really ordinary. Friday afternoon is much the same, maybe a touch more energy (83), but still weak.
Saturday the 18th morning has a similar 2 ft swell, clean with a light cross-off breeze, but again, combined energy is only 48. There’s just no power behind it.
After that, it drops right back to nothing. For a spot that’s fairly exposed, it’s a rough run. There’s no hidden gem here. If you’re desperate and just want to paddle around on a longboard in clean, gutless waves, Friday the 17th is your best bet. But don’t expect to get your heart racing.
