Table - best surf conditions forecast for Arrifana over the next 16 days.
G'day, Rusty here. Bit of a tough one to call for Arrifana over the next couple of weeks. Honestly, the opening stretch is a real struggle. We've got a long quiet spell on our hands right through the first week and into the second. Wednesday the 8th through to Saturday the 12th is essentially flat or ankle-high dribble – we're talking combined swell energy that barely cracks 100 (12 to 77), so don't even bother waxing up. That's a solid four or five days of nothing doing.
Sunday the 12th morning shows a slight flicker: clean conditions with a light cross-off breeze from the NNW, but the swell is a meagre 3ft from the NW at a short 9 seconds. The combined energy hits 162, which is weak to moderate, but it's barely surfable. The rest of that week stays tiny, with most sessions scoring a zero.
The real story doesn't start until we're well into the second week. Around Thursday the 16th, we see a small bump – 3ft from the WNW, with clean conditions thanks to a cross-off breeze, but the period is a pathetic 7 seconds and the energy is only 116. Still not worth the paddle.
Things get a bit more interesting towards the very end. Sunday the 19th morning brings 4ft from the NNW, period of 6 seconds, clean with a cross-off wind and energy climbing to 146. By Sunday afternoon, it's 5ft from the NW, 7 seconds, energy at 228. Monday the 20th morning holds 4ft from the NNW, again clean with cross-off wind, energy at 180. But the standout, the only time I'd genuinely get excited, is on Wednesday the 22nd. The afternoon sees swell building to 6ft from the NNW, period still just 6 seconds, but with a clean cross-off breeze and energy surging to 274 – that's moderate but on the cusp of strong. It's messy, short-period stuff, but it's the biggest push of the whole outlook.
Then Thursday the 23rd morning is the pick of the entire window. Swell hits 7ft from the NNW, period only 7 seconds, but the combined energy is a solid 408 (strong). The wind is a gentle cross-off from the N, so it'll be clean. That's a fair bit of juice for Arrifana's exposed beach-and-reef setup. At over 7ft, this is expert territory – too big for the groms. The short period (under 8 seconds) means it'll be a bit lumpy and less organised, but for the experienced crew, that Thursday morning is your only real window for something with some push. Water temp is average for this time of year – no anomaly flagged. Arrifana can get crowded sometimes, and over this whole stretch, the consistency is lacking badly, so don't hold your breath. This is one of those periods where you just have to wait and see.
Stay keen.
Rusty.
