The Lowdown
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s suss out Arrifana. Mixed bag, but there’s a couple of pockets worth your time.
Kicking off Friday morning the 28th of August, we’ve got a solid 7ft swell from the WNW with a 10-second period. Water temp is 69°, a bit colder than usual for the season. Winds are light north at 3 mph, cross-off, keeping it glassy. Combined swell energy is moderate at 959. This is the one to chase – clean, powerful lines for the advanced crew. Crowds are possible, so get in early.
Friday afternoon the wind ramps to 16 mph from the NNW, still cross-off, and the swell pushes to 7ft with an 11-second period. Energy climbs to 1123. Still a good session but that wind will ruffle it a touch.
Saturday the 29th drops. Morning sees 6ft from the NW, but north wind at 12 mph. Afternoon goes to 5ft and messy. Sunday through Wednesday is pretty flat and choppy – not worth the hassle.
Thursday the 10th of September, a new pulse rolls in. Thursday morning gives 7ft from the NNW, short 8-second period, but light north winds at 9 mph keeping it clean. Energy at 559. Another solid window for the experienced. Thursday afternoon the wind picks up but still cross-off.
Friday the 11th holds 6ft from the NNW with light winds in the morning. Then it fades into small, onshore crap through the end.
Bottom line: Friday morning the 28th is the standout, with Thursday the 10th morning as a solid backup. The rest is a skip. Rusty out.
