Table - best surf conditions forecast for Azarujinha over the next 16 days.
Alright crew, Rusty here. Let’s break down what’s in store for the next couple of weeks.
It’s looking like a quiet, drawn-out stretch, with a real long wait before anything worth chasing shows up. The first potential surf is a non-starter.
The first window to even consider is Saturday morning, July 12th, at Azarujinha. The swell is a weak 3 ft out of the west, with a 9-second period, and the wind is onshore from the south at 6 mph. The combined energy is 157 (moderate), but the conditions are poor. Not worth the drive.
After that, we hit a massive dry patch. From Saturday afternoon all the way through to Thursday, July 24th, the waves are tiny, the wind is messy, or both. The energy readings are all in the low double digits or single digits. It’s a proper blank run, which is pretty normal for this area, but it’s still a tough one to swallow.
The one real standout comes on Saturday, July 25th, in the morning. The forecast shifts to a solid 5 ft swell from the northwest, with a 13-second period – that’s proper groundswell, packing a punch with a combined energy of 712 (strong). The wind is a gentle offshore from the north-northwest at 9 mph, so it’s gonna be clean. The water temp is sitting at 67° with a normal anomaly of -0.2°, so it’s about average for the time of year.
Azarujinha is a reef break, and with that long period, it’ll be holding shape nicely. It’s fairly consistent, but crowds are often there, so be ready to share the lineup. This is the one to circle on the calendar, but it’s more than a week out, so it’s promising but not a sure thing yet.
Keep the stick ready, and check back in.
Rusty.
