Table - best surf conditions forecast for Azarujinha over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the table for the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – this is a tough one. The whole 16-day window is looking pretty flat and sorry for itself. We’re staring at a long, dry spell with hardly any swell to get excited about. The first decent surfable day doesn’t roll in until the morning of the 28th, and even then it’s just a pulse of tiny waves. That’s a solid two-week gap with nothing but gutless, knee-high dribble.
Azarujinha is the only break on the cards, and it’s a reef setup that’s pretty exposed. The water temp is sitting at 66°, which is about 1° cooler than usual for this time of year – nothing wild, just a bit on the fresh side.
The first few days are a write-off. Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th are all about tiny, weak swell – 2ft from the NW, with periods around 8 seconds or less. The wind is mostly cross or cross-off, but the energy is pitiful (combined energy of 65 or lower). It’s just not worth paddling out for.
Wednesday the 15th through to the morning of the 28th is a dead zone. The swell barely breaks 1ft, the combined energy drops into the teens and twenties, and the wave comment is consistently “poor surf conditions.” There’s one morning on the 24th that’s glassy, but with only 1ft of swell, you’d be floating more than surfing. Honestly, for a beach and reef setup like this, the conditions are more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer.
Now, the one standout – and I use that word loosely – is the afternoon of Tuesday the 28th. The swell finally bumps up to 2ft from the WNW, with a period of 10 seconds and a combined energy of 106 (moderate). The wind is a moderate cross-off breeze, keeping it clean. It’s not going to be epic, but it’s the first time in the whole forecast you’ll actually get a rideable wave. It’s still small, so it’s fine for beginners, but don’t expect any power.
The rest of the window after that is more of the same – tiny, weak, and not worth the drive. The morning of the 28th is the only time you might want to wet a line, but even then, keep your expectations low.
Rusty, signing off.
