Table - best surf conditions forecast for Azarujinha over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be honest right off the bat: this forecast for Azarujinha is a tough one. We’re looking at a 16-day window that’s largely a blank run. Apart from a few fleeting moments, the surf is tiny and the conditions are just plain ordinary. It’s the kind of quiet spell that’s more normal for this area, so don’t let it get you down – forecasts can change.
The first session worth mentioning is a brief one, and really the only standout. That’s on Saturday morning, July 11th. There’s a little 2ft swell pushing in from the northwest, with a period of 11 seconds. The combined energy is weak (87), so it’s not exactly packing a punch, but the wind is light offshore from the north-northwest. That’s a major positive – it’ll keep the surface clean. The waves will be small, but for a reef break, that offshore wind is a gift. It’s the only time in the first week where the pieces almost line up. Keep an eye on the crowd, though – this spot can get busy.
From there, things get bleak. For the rest of the first week, we’re looking at swell that drops off and winds that are mostly cross or onshore. The water temperature is about average for the time of year, which is a small comfort.
Week two is a write-off. There are days of nothing but strong offshore winds and flat spells. You’ll see a few tiny pulses, like on Monday the 20th, but the weak energy (25 to 112) and small size (0.6ft to 2ft) don’t add up to anything worthwhile. Even the stronger offshore winds just make it a clean, empty lineup with no waves.
The only other thing that pops up on the horizon is on Friday the 24th. We get a bump in swell to 4ft to 5ft from the northwest, but it’s a short-period (6 seconds) wind swell with moderate energy (134-155). The wind is strong offshore, so it’ll be clean, but those short-period waves are going to be chunky and lack shape. It’s not a standout, just a reminder that the ocean is still there.
Truth is, the best surf on offer is that tiny, clean window on Saturday morning. Everything else is a waiting game. Hang in there.
Rusty.
