Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for Azarujinha over the next couple of weeks.
Alright, straight up, if you're looking for anything decent, you're going to be waiting a while. There's nothing worth paddling out for until the weekend, and even then, it's pretty average. The swell is running tiny for almost this whole run. We're looking at a big gap of flat, poor conditions for days. The first real chance to get wet comes on Saturday the 4th of July. The morning is your best window, with glassy 2ft swell coming out of the WNW at 11 seconds. Combined wave energy is weak at 92 (moderate energy), but that glassy wind is the only thing making it surfable. It's still very ordinary though, nothing to get excited about. The water temp is sitting around 66.2°, which is pretty normal for this time of year.
The next sniff of something that could turn into a wave comes on Saturday the 11th of July. The morning brings a bit more push with 2ft from the NW, and the period jumps to a long 13 seconds. The combined energy goes into the three-digit range at 136 (moderate wave energy). You've got light offshore winds from the NNW making it clean. It's still small but deep, so it might offer up a few better-shaped runners than the dribble we've seen. The afternoon gets a bit of the same swell, 2.3ft NW at 12 seconds (168), but the wind swings cross-off and gets stronger, so the morning is the only call for that day.
Moving into the second week, the outlook doesn't improve. Monday the 13th of July has a morning with 3ft NW at 9 seconds and moderate offshore wind from the NNW. The energy hits 120 (moderate wave energy). Still, it's a short-period windswell, and the wave quality is just described as ordinary. It's rideable but nothing that would get me out of bed early.
For the rest of the run after that, it's back to tiny, weak, and mostly cross-off winds. There is no standout day here. The wind is often cross-off or offshore, which is good for the surface, but with no swell to work with, it's irrelevant. The few times we see any swell energy, the quality is just poor. Honestly, for the entire 16-day stretch, there is no true standout. If you're desperate, the glassy Saturday morning on the 4th or the cleaner morning on the 11th are your only real options at Azarujinha. For a reef break, it's just not doing anything.
Stay patient, folks. Sometimes the ocean's not cooperating.
