Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards.
To be straight with you, the next couple of weeks are a tough watch. From now and right through to the end of the forecast, there’s nothing that jumps out as a proper session. We’re staring down a long, quiet stretch with barely any energy to speak of. It’s going to be a grind.
Looking at Azarujinha, this is a reef setup that’s exposed to the swell and picks up from the SW. It’s fairly consistent normally, but the wave heights are tiny. Sunday morning the 5th starts off with a glassy 1 ft from the WNW, period around 9 seconds, combined energy is weak at 48 and the water is sitting at 68°F, which is about normal for the time of year. But the comment is poor surf conditions right off the bat, and that theme sticks.
Through the week the swell stays below 2 ft mostly, with some afternoons bumping up to 4 ft on Friday the 10th, but everything is flagged as poor. Winds are often cross-off or offshore, so it’s clean, but there’s just no power. The combined energy stays in the double digits or barely cracks 100, so it’s a very weak window.
By Sunday the 12th, we get a slight bump with 4 ft from the WNW, period 9 seconds, and combined energy at 231 – that’s moderate energy, but the conditions are only “marginal.” The wind is cross-off at 12 mph, so it’s not terrible to look at, but it’s not going to give you a wave worth paddling for.
Things start to drop again after that. From the 13th onward, we’re back to waist-high or smaller, with combined energy falling back below 100. The swell direction shifts to the SW by the 18th with very long periods over 15 seconds, but the heights are 0.3 ft, so it’s effectively flat. By the last few days, there’s nothing to ride.
Honestly, if you’re set on getting wet, Tuesday morning the 7th and Wednesday morning the 8th see a gentle offshore wind and clean conditions, but with 1.0 ft you’re basically floating. Not a standout. The closest to a mention would be Friday morning the 10th with 2 ft and clean cross-off, but it’s still not surfable.
There’s no single standout here. This is a blank run for the area. It can change, but for now, leave the board in the car and keep an eye on the sky. The second week from the 13th onward is a write-off.
Rusty.
