Table - best surf conditions forecast for Azarujinha over the next 16 days.
Alright, folks, Rusty here again. Let’s break down the same outlook but in feet and Fahrenheit for you.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you: the next week and a half is looking pretty grim. We’re in a real flat spell. From Monday, July 13th, all the way through to Saturday, July 25th, the surf is just not worth paddling out for. It’s tiny, weak, and the conditions are mostly messy. You’ll see a few mornings with cleanish-looking wind, but with wave heights barely reaching 3 ft and energy levels in the gutter, it’s a hard pass. There’s a couple of windows on Tuesday, July 14th, and Thursday, July 16th, where the wave comment says "surfable but very ordinary," but honestly, you’d be better off waxing your board just for the hell of it.
Now, after that long dry spell, things start to get interesting. The standout here is Monday morning, July 27th. We’ve got a pulse of energy coming in at Azarujinha (a reef setup) showing 4 ft from the WNW with a 10-second period. The combined energy hits 290, which is the best we’ve seen in the whole forecast. What’s really got me stoked is the wind – it’s a gentle offshore from the NNW, so it’s going to be glassy. The swell direction is WNW, which is a touch off the optimum SW direction for this spot, but it’s still going to wrap in nicely. This is the one to aim for. Keep in mind, though, it’s a Monday and it’s over a week away, so don’t lock it in just yet – but it’s looking promising.
Outside of that morning, the rest of the window is a write-off. The water temperature is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
So, in a nutshell: suffer through the next 12 days of flatness, and then keep your eyes peeled for the morning of July 27th. That’s your best shot.
Rusty.
