The Lowdown
Alright, let's talk about Azarujinha for the next 16 days.
We’re in for a bit of a slow start, that's for sure. For the first week, it’s all small, messy, and blown out. You’ll be waiting a while for the first proper session.
The one true standout in the whole outlook hits on Friday morning, August 28th. This is the one to circle. Azarujinha will be pumping with a 10-foot northwest swell, a 12-second period, and a clean offshore wind from the north. The energy in the water is going to be massive (2183). This is a serious groundswell, so you’re looking at proper, powerful sets. Because of that long period, it’ll be best as a nice right-hander off the reef. Keep in mind, waves this size are only for expert surfers. And with the spot being often crowded, expect plenty of company.
Before that, there's a build-up day on Thursday, August 27th. The afternoon has a 6-foot northwest swell with a clean cross-off wind (WNW, 12 mph). It looks decent, but the report says the tide might mess with the quality a bit.
Once that big Friday passes, the weekend cleans up nicely. Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th still have clean offshore winds, but the swell is dropping. Sunday morning, for instance, has a nice 4-foot NW swell and a light offshore – still great fun.
The water temperature is around 69°F, which is right where it should be for this time of year.
Come September, the surf drops off a cliff. From the 1st on, we’re talking tiny, weak waves with hardly any energy. The last decent-looking day is that Sunday, the 30th of August. After that, it’s basically a flat spell for the rest of the forecast window.
So, the game plan is simple: Monday through Wednesday is for resting. Lock in Thursday the 27th for a warm-up, and be ready to go absolutely mental on Friday the 28th.
