The Lowdown
Alright, let’s talk real talk. The next couple weeks are mostly a grind, with one morning that’s actually got some spark to it.
The first few days aren't worth paddling out for. Friday morning the 21st has a weak 3ft of west-northwest swell with a 11-second period, and the north wind keeps it clean, but there’s just no energy. It fades fast after that. Saturday and Sunday are blown out with onshore wind and messy conditions. Forget it.
Monday the 24th through Friday the 28th is a real lull. There’s waves, sure, but they’re short-period, weak, and the wind is all over the place. Choppy, lumpy, crossed-up–not what you’re after.
The 29th is flat-out flat. No swell, no energy, nothing.
Sunday the 30th brings a bit of hope—4 to 5ft of northwesterly groundswell at 9 seconds, with a clean offshore north wind. The energy is picking up a little, but it’s still a marginal call. It’s rideable, but not a standout.
The next few days are more of the same—waist-high west-northwest swell with clean but weak conditions. You'll get some fun little ones in the mornings, but nothing that gets the heart rate up.
But then, hold on. Thursday, September 4th, the morning looks proper. We’re talking 7ft of northwest swell, short-period at 8 seconds, with a moderate offshore north wind. The energy reading jumps to 592—that’s the most push we’ve seen all stretch. At Azarujinha, a reef break, it should produce some solid, punchy waves. It won’t be super clean due to the short period, but this is the pick of the two weeks. The afternoon falls off a cliff, and the 5th is dead.
So, overall: a flat, frustrating start, then one standout session on Thursday morning, the 4th. Mark it in the calendar.
Water temp is about average for this time of year. No surprises there.
