Alright, let me break this down for you in feet and everything.
Azarujinha is a reef break that faces a bit open to the SW. First week is dead. The water’s a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, around 70°, but that’s about all that’s happening. From Monday the 6th right through to Thursday the 10th of July, we’re talking tiny ankle-biters, 1ft to 2ft from the WNW. The combined energy is between 20 and 65 – weak. Winds are mostly cross-off or offshore, so it’s clean but there’s just no power. Surf is poor.
Friday the 10th morning is still just surfable but very ordinary, with 2ft WNW swell and a light cross-off breeze. Then a little bump shows up over the weekend. Saturday the 11th morning stays small at 1ft, but Sunday the 12th sees a push to around 4ft from the NW, and the energy hits 201, so the ocean has some push, but the wind swings onshore from the SSW and makes it choppy. Sunday afternoon stays cross-onshore and messy.
Now Monday the 13th of July morning is the one moment that might be worth paddling out. Swell is 3ft from the NW, short-period at 8 seconds, but the wind goes glassy – dead flat. Energy is moderate at 170. The wave comment says *surfable waves but very ordinary conditions*, so that’s the best you’re getting. For an intermediate surfer, that morning could be a few clean lines.
After that, it drops off. Tuesday the 14th morning has a little 2ft W swell with clean offshore wind from the NNW – a fun longboard wave if you’re keen. From Wednesday the 15th onward, the swell fades and the wind ramps up. By the 19th and 20th, we’re looking at 1ft and 1ft with 25 to 28 mph offshore winds – super clean but howling and hard to paddle into. That setup is more for a kiteboard than a surfboard.
On the 20th and 21st, we get a little tickle of very long-period energy – 0.3ft from the SW with a 16-second period – but the wave height is basically nothing.
So here’s the bottom line: no real standouts in this 16-day window. The only time that might give you a couple okay waves is Monday the 13th of July in the morning with that glassy surface and waist-high swell. Otherwise, it’s a long quiet stretch. Sometimes the ocean just takes a nap around here.
