The Lowdown
Gather 'round, crew. Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for Azarujinha over the next couple of weeks.
To be straight with you, the next ten days are a bit of a write-off. We're looking at a real dry spell, with nothing worthwhile until Monday, July 27th. Until then, the swell is tiny, mostly under 1ft, and the wind is either cross-off or a bit too strong. Not worth paddling out for.
Our first real sign of life comes on Monday, July 27th. There's a pulse of new swell expected for the morning, with waves coming in around 5ft from the northwest. The wind will be light offshore from the north-northwest, making for some clean, lined-up waves. The combined energy will be a moderate 338. It's a reef setup, so expect some proper shape. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there. This is the standout of the forecast period, and it's the only real window we've got.
Tuesday, July 28th should still be decent in the morning, with 4ft of north-west swell and a glassy offshore breeze from the north-northwest. The energy is moderate at 287. It'll be clean, but the afternoon gets a bit sloppy with a cross-off breeze.
Wednesday, July 29th morning, the swell bumps up to 5ft from the northwest, with a fresh offshore wind from the north. That's a lot of energy – 489 – but at that size, it's getting into the expert-only zone, especially with a stronger breeze. The afternoon is a no-go with a strong offshore wind that'll be hard to paddle into.
Then it's back to the small stuff. Friday, July 31st has a small window of 3ft from the northwest in the morning, with light winds, giving a moderate 210 of energy. It's a small, clean option, but nothing special.
So, there you have it. Monday, July 27th morning is your best bet. It's not a massive swell, but it's clean, and the reef should offer some nice lines. The rest of the period is a waiting game.
Rusty.
