Table - best surf conditions forecast for Figueiros over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be honest with you – this is a tough stretch. For the first week and a half, we’re lookin’ at a real flat spell. The surf is just not there. From now until about the 19th of July, the waves are small, the wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore, and it’s just a mess. The swell energy is weak, barely crackin’ 100 (93) at best, and the period is short. It’s gonna be a long wait.
The first time we see any kind of pulse is around the 20th of July. That Monday morning, the wind swings around to a light cross-offshore from the east-northeast, and we get a tiny bit of life. Figueiros will see a small 3ft swell from the NNW, but it’s still pretty ordinary. The best windows in that stretch are on the 21st of July (Tuesday) when the wind goes glassy in the afternoon, and the 22nd of July (Wednesday) morning with a clean offshore breeze. But the swell is tiny – only 1ft – so don’t expect much.
The real standout, if you can call it that, is a bump in size around the 25th of July. Saturday morning brings a 4ft swell from the NW, but the wind is cross-on, so it’s gonna be choppy. The energy picks up a bit (103), but it’s not clean. Then on the 26th of July (Sunday), the swell jumps to 6ft from the NNW, with moderate energy (263) – but again, the wind is onshore and the conditions are poor. This is a case of the swell being too big for the conditions, and it’s really only for the experienced crew. The water temp is sittin’ around 68°, which is about average for this time of year, so no worries there.
Overall, there’s no true standout session in this 16-day window. The surf is too small, too messy, or too wind-affected. If you’re desperate, the 20th to the 23rd of July offer the cleanest conditions, but you’ll be on a shortboard for a long wait between waves. The bigger swell at the end of the period (26th-28th of July) has energy but poor wind, so it’s a kite-surfing setup more than anything. Hang in there, the forecasts can always change.
Rusty.
