Table - best surf conditions forecast for Arrawarra over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Well, we’ve got a bit of a mixed bag coming our way over the next couple of weeks at Arrawarra (point), but there are a couple of solid windows if you time it right. The water temperature is sitting right around average for this time of year, so nothing weird there.
The week kicks off proper on Wednesday afternoon, July 8th with a solid pulse. We’re looking at a 10ft SSE swell pushing through with an 11-second period, and the combined wave energy is pumping at 3,929 – that’s strong energy. The wind is blowing straight offshore from the south at 15 mph, keeping things clean. This is a big one, though – over 8ft, so it’s strictly for experienced surfers. The swell direction is SSE, which is a bit off the optimum east direction for this break, but the power and clean conditions make it a standout.
Thursday, July 9th holds a bit smaller but still solid. Morning sees 7ft SSE swell, period 10 seconds, energy at 1,781, and offshore SSW wind at 15 mph – clean and punchy. The afternoon bumps up to 8ft SSE with similar wind, energy at 1,926. Still in the expert zone, but quality is there.
Friday, July 10th is a nice step down. Morning has 6ft SE swell, 10-second period, and a light 9 mph offshore from the south, energy at 784. Afternoon stays similar but the wind shifts cross-offshore from the SSE – still clean, still very good. This one is more manageable for strong intermediates.
From Saturday, July 11th things drop off fast. Waves shrink to 4ft and below, winds go messy or onshore, energy drops into the hundreds. There’s a long flat spell from Sunday through to Wednesday, July 15th – basically no surf worth paddling for. A few days of tiny, weak waves with energy as low as 19 to 74. Not worth the drive.
But then Thursday, July 16th sparks up again. Morning brings 8ft SSE swell with a short 7-second period, strong offshore SW wind at 15 mph, energy at 555 – okay, but the short period means it’ll be a bit crumbly. The afternoon is the real standout: 13ft SSE swell, 9-second period, energy at 2,405, and clean cross-offshore wind. That’s a big, powerful setup, but again over 8ft, so only for experts.
Friday, July 17th through Saturday, July 18th gets blown out by screaming near-gale and strong-breeze southerlies, 25–31 mph. Swell is still 7ft to 10ft, but with that wind, it’s a mess for paddling – this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than a regular surf.
Sunday, July 19th has some hope with 10ft S swell, 10-second period, energy at 2,853, but the wind is a fresh breeze cross-offshore at 22 mph – clean but strong, making conditions tricky. The afternoon is similar at 10ft SSE, energy at 3,062. Still expert territory with a challenge.
Monday, July 20th drops to 6ft SE swell, but the wind stays fresh cross-offshore – clean but bumpy from the strong breeze. Not a highlight.
The brighter note comes Tuesday, July 21st when the wind finally eases to a moderate offshore from the SSW, 12 mph, with a 5ft SE swell at 11-second period, energy at 613. Good shape, clean, more manageable for strong surfers.
Wednesday, July 22nd and Thursday, July 23rd offer small glassy mornings – 3ft to 3ft, periods 9–10 seconds, glassy or calm winds. Nice for a longboard or a fun session, but nothing big.
Overall, the standout is definitely Wednesday afternoon, July 8th – that’s the pick of the first week for experts. For the second week, keep an eye on Thursday afternoon, July 16th – a very promising big swell window, though it’s a week and a bit out, so a little less certain. Arrawarra can get crowded when it’s good, so expect company on the peak days.
Rusty, signing off.
