Alright, this is Rusty checking in. We've got one spot on the radar here, and it's a big one. This is an expert-level reef break that is very consistent and exposed to the swell, so when it's on, it's really on. The water is sitting at 67°, which is about 2° warmer than usual for this time of year – not a huge anomaly, but a nice little bonus for your session.
The opening act kicks off on Monday afternoon, July 6th, with a proper pulse of long-period groundswell. We're looking at a solid 13ft from the WSW with a 15-second period. The combined energy is absolutely pumping at 6660 – that's strong to very strong energy. A clean cross-off breeze means the faces will be lined up, but at this size, this is strictly for the experts. This is the standout of the whole run: big, powerful, and clean. It stays big through Tuesday the 7th, with another 12ft to 10ft swell from the SW, and Tuesday morning is glassy with a slight air, which is about as good as it gets.
We get a bit of a reset on Wednesday the 8th. Still a solid 12ft swell, but the morning has an onshore wind. The real gem that day is Wednesday afternoon – glassy conditions with an 12ft WSW swell. The energy is still huge at 6254, and with zero wind, that's going to be a special window. Thursday the 9th gets choppier with onshore wind, and the quality drops off through the weekend as the swell dips, though the size stays in the 7ft to 10ft range with moderate energy.
The next true standout is Monday morning, July 13th. A fresh pulse of 13ft SW groundswell rolls in with a 16-second period. The combined energy hits 7500, the biggest number in the forecast. Light ESE offshore wind will have those waves standing up tall and perfect. This is another day for the experienced crew only, as it's way too big for anyone else.
The second week is more of a mixed bag. There's a window on Tuesday the 14th with 10ft SW swell and glassy conditions in the morning from a light NNE breeze. But things get windy from the 15th onward. Wednesday the 15th sees strong cross-off winds, and by Thursday the 16th through Saturday the 18th, we're looking at a full-on storm sequence. Fresh to near gale-force winds and heavy rain mean the place will be a mess. There's a bit of a cleanup on Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th, but the quality is marginal with moderate cross-shore wind.
Looking further out, Monday the 21st of July has a promising return of an 12ft WSW swell with a long 16-second period and a clean cross-off breeze, but it's a long way off, so keep your fingers crossed.
Overall, the best two windows are Monday afternoon July 6th and Monday morning July 13th – both offer big, clean, expert-only surf. The stretch from the 16th to the 18th is a write-off. The spot is consistent, but you have to pick your windows.
Rusty.
