Alright, let’s take a look at what’s on the table for the next couple of weeks.
We’ve got one main spot in the mix here: Surfers Point. It’s an advanced reef break that likes a solid WSW swell, and it fires pretty consistently. The water’s sitting at about 67°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so you might get away with a thinner suit.
The first proper call is Friday morning, July 3rd. Swell is a solid 10ft from the SW, period a nice 14 seconds, and we’ve got a light cross-offshore breeze. The combined energy is a meaty 3708 – that’s serious power. It’s clean, it’s pumping, but this is for experienced surfers only. Too big for beginners.
Saturday morning, July 4th, the swell holds at 10ft from the SW, period jacks up to 17 seconds – that’s proper groundswell. Energy jumps to 5166, wind is a moderate cross-offshore. This is another one for the experienced crew. That long period will make the sets bigger and more powerful, and there will be longer lulls between them, so paddling out might be a bit easier if you time it right.
The standout, the one to circle on the calendar, is Monday afternoon, July 6th. We’re looking at 15ft of WSW swell, 16 second period, with clean offshore wind from the ESE. The combined energy is massive – 8941. This is exceptional surf, but it’s in the expert zone. If you can handle it, this is the best session of the whole outlook. Tuesday morning, July 7th, is close behind with 13ft SW, 16 seconds, and light offshore winds, energy at 7317. Also exceptional.
There’s a bit of a lull from about July 8th onwards. Wednesday morning, July 8th, has 10ft and glassy conditions – that’s a beautiful window for the experienced surfer. But by the weekend and into the next week, winds turn onshore and messy for a stretch.
The next real highlight comes Saturday, July 11th. Afternoon session shows 15ft from the SW, 17 second period, and clean cross-offshore wind. Energy is 11584 – that’s enormous. Another one for experts only, and it’s a week out, so keep an eye on it, but it looks promising.
After that, the week of July 13th and 14th still has clean conditions and solid 7-10ft SW swell, good for experienced surfers. Then the energy drops off hard by July 15th. A weird spike on July 16th brings a 15ft NNW swell, but it’s short period (9 seconds) and super windy – messy and blown out. That one’s a no-go.
So, bottom line: Friday the 3rd and Saturday the 4th are solid, but Monday the 6th afternoon is the true standout. Tuesday the 7th morning is also a gem. Later on, Saturday the 11th afternoon is another massive one to watch. Don’t bother with the middle of the second week unless you’re a glutton for punishment.
Stay safe out there.
