Table - best surf conditions forecast for Surfers Point over the next 16 days.
G’day, I’m Rusty. Let’s have a look at what’s in store for the next couple of weeks at Surfers Point.
The first week is a bit of a mixed bag, with some solid, powerful SW groundswell rolling in, but the wind is often a problem. The whole period kicks off on Saturday the 11th with a meaty 10ft SW swell, but it’s coming in with a cross-shore wind that’s going to have some chop on it. The water is sitting at 67°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year. Not bad, just a little different.
We get a bit of a break in the action on Tuesday the 14th. That morning, the wind swings around to a light cross-off from the NNE, cleaning up a 10ft SW swell, and by Tuesday afternoon it goes glassy. That’s the pick of the first week right there – clean, glassy conditions on a solid 10ft groundswell. The combined energy is pumping at 4427, so there’s plenty of grunt. This is one for the experienced crew though; at 10ft, it’s not a beginner’s wave.
From Wednesday the 15th through to Friday the 17th, it gets messy. Strong winds, lots of rain, and lumpy, chunky conditions. Best to give it a miss.
Now, Saturday the 18th is a serious standout. The models are showing a massive 20ft SW swell, with combined energy reading 21793 – that’s a monster. The wind is onshore and strong, but the forecast says the wind and tide are favorable for this break. However, at 20ft, this is for absolute experts only. If you’re not in that league, stay on the beach and watch. It’s nine days out, so it’s a promising one to keep an eye on, but it’s not set in stone yet.
The week after that has some quieter moments. Sunday the 19th is still solid with a 13ft SW swell, but a cross-shore wind keeps it a bit choppy. The real highlight in the second week is Tuesday the 21st. That morning, we get a glassy, clean 12ft SSW swell, with the wind falling off to nothing. It’s a bit of a shorter period at 11 seconds, so it’s more of a wind swell, but the glassy conditions and 12ft of swell make it a real treat. The energy is solid at 3519. Crowds are often a thing at Surfers Point, so you’ll have company, but the waves will be worth it.
The last few days of the forecast window have some cleaner moments, like Sunday the 26th with a clean 8ft SW groundswell, but the wind is a bit stronger. Overall, the standout days are Tuesday the 14th and Tuesday the 21st for the cleanest conditions, and Saturday the 18th for the sheer size and power, but that’s only for the brave.
Rusty.
