Table - best surf conditions forecast for Surfers Point over the next 16 days.

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the table for the next couple of weeks. It's a story of two halves – the first part is for the experienced crew, and the second part is a warning for everyone else. We've got one spot on the radar, and it's a classic.

We're looking at Surfers Point, a reef setup that's very consistent and exposed to the swell. The water is sitting at about 66°, which is pretty much what you'd expect for this time of year, nothing wild there. Right now, Wednesday afternoon the 8th, it's a mess. Onshore wind at 16 mph and a solid 12 ft swell, but it's ugly. A combined energy of 5723 (moderate wave energy) means there's power, but the wind is just ruining it.

The week starts to look better from Saturday morning the 11th. We've got a 7 ft WSW swell, a light offshore breeze from the SE, and the conditions are clean. That's a good sign for experienced surfers, but the crowd at Surfers Point? It's often packed, so get in early. The combined energy is 1860 (moderate wave energy), so there's some grunt.

Sunday morning the 12th is a bit of a tease – a 10 ft SW swell with a 15-second period (long period groundswell) and almost no wind. It's clean but the report calls it marginal. The energy jumps to 4999 (moderate wave energy). That long period will make for some proper lines, but at a beach break it can be a bit straight. Surfers Point is a reef though, so that long period is your friend here.

The real standout, the one to circle on your calendar, is Thursday the 23rd of July. The morning session is calling for a 13 ft SW swell, a perfect offshore breeze from the ESE, and the report says it's exceptional for experts. The combined energy is massive at 9364 (strong wave energy). The period is long at 15 seconds. This is the pick of the bunch. But remember, with a swell that big, over 8 ft, this is strictly for the pros. If you're not comfortable in heavy water, sit this one out on the beach. The crowds will be inevitable on a day like this.

Before that, there are a few other windows. Tuesday morning the 14th has a 10 ft SW swell with a clean, offshore breeze from the ENE. Again, big and for experts only. Wednesday morning the 15th is tempting – a 8 ft SW swell and glassy conditions with zero wind. That's about as clean as it gets, but the energy is lower at 2038 (moderate wave energy). Still, a glassy day at Surfers Point is a treat.

Don't even think about paddling out from the 17th through the 20th. We've got strong to very strong wave energy (up to 19595 on the 19th), but the wind is howling onshore or cross-onshore, and the swell gets up to 21 ft. That's not surf, that's a washing machine. It looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.

The 22nd is a bit of a return to form with a clean 12 ft to 13 ft SW swell, even if the energy is getting up there again. By Thursday the 23rd, as I said, it's the big day. After that, it tapers off into the 21st and 22nd with more marginal, onshore conditions. So, all in all, the best surf is for the experts on the 14th, 15th, and the standout morning of the 23rd. Get after it if you've got the skill.

Rusty.
