The Lowdown

Alright, let's get into it. The surf's been in a bit of a holding pattern, but there's some serious size on the horizon. We're looking at a window that starts a bit rough, gets real gnarly mid-week, then cleans up for a proper session. It's all about picking your moments. The water's sitting about 3°F warmer than usual for this time of year, so it's a touch balmier than you'd expect – not crazy, but you'll notice it.

The next few days are a write-off, to be honest. Sunday morning is chopped up with a cross-on breeze and the swell's not organized. We see a jump in energy on Sunday afternoon, but it's still cross and messy. Monday and Tuesday are ruled by onshore winds and building swell, turning into lumpy, poor conditions. Tuesday afternoon the energy really kicks in, hitting a strong 8702, but it's a blown-out mess with a 13ft swell. Not worth it.

Then the pattern shifts. Wednesday morning brings a big cleanup – the wind swings cross-off, the swell jumps to 18ft with a long 18-second period, and the energy is cranking at 17108. But here's the thing – it's just too big for this break. This is a spot for experts only at this size, and even then, it's pushing the limits. The conditions are pristine, but the size is intimidating. If you're a seasoned charger, it's on, but you need to know what you're doing.

Thursday and Friday see the swell back off a bit to the 10-13ft range, but it's still cross-off and clean-ish. The periods drop, and while it's surfable, it's not lighting anyone's fire. The energy is still solid, but the quality is just average. You'll get some waves, but it's nothing to skip work for.

Now, here's the standout. Saturday morning, August 29th. The wind goes offshore, light, the swell is a solid 10ft from the SW with a long 16-second period, and the energy is strong at 4908. This is the one. Clean, lined-up, and with that offshore breeze holding the faces open. It'll be a proper session, but it's an advanced wave. With the size and the swell direction, this is about as good as it gets in the window. Expect some crowds, as this spot gets busy when it's firing.

After that, the week is a bit of a letdown. The wind goes cross or onshore, the swell gets a bit disorganized, and the energy drops. It's not flat, but it's nothing special. The following weekend, we see another pulse of energy on Friday afternoon, September 4th, with a 16ft swell and a 16-second period, energy hitting a strong 11386. Wind is light and onshore, which is far from ideal, but the size is there. It's a promising but less certain call for the second week. The real monster, though, is the following Monday, September 7th. We're talking a 21ft swell with a 20-second period and crazy amounts of energy (33044). But again, that's way too big for this spot and only for the most experienced. The conditions will be clean, but it's a beast of a day that most should watch from the sand.

So in short: the early week is a write-off. Your best bet is Saturday morning, August 29th. The long-range stuff is big but less certain and for experts only. Keep an eye on it, but don't hold your breath.
