Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
G’day, Rusty here. The next couple of weeks are looking pretty solid for the reef—nothing flat on the horizon for Surfers Point. The water is sitting at 67°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, so you might not need the thickest rubber.
The first standout kicks off Friday the 3rd of July. We’ve got a 8ft SW swell rolling in with a 14-second period, so there’s some proper groundswell energy behind it. The combined swell energy is pumping at 3011 (moderate). Wind is a light cross from the NNW at 6 mph, so it’s just a bit of cross-chop. This isn’t a beginner wave at this size—it’s all for advanced surfers. The reef handles the long-period stuff well, so expect shaped-up lines with longer lulls between sets.
Saturday the 4th of July turns it up a notch. Saturday morning sees a 10ft SW swell with a 17-second period—that’s long-period groundswell, and it’s packing serious energy (5166 in the energy department). The wind is NNE at 16 mph, cross-offshore, keeping the faces clean. The afternoon drops a little to 8ft but still holds quality. This is another session for experienced surfers—crowds are often here, so expect company.
Monday the 6th of July is a big one. We’re looking at 13ft of WSW swell, period 15–16 seconds, with combined energy readings of 6577 and 8066—strong. Wind is ESE, 9–12 mph, cross-offshore, and the surf is clean. That’s too big for beginners but a dream for experts. The long period means the reef will line them up nicely. If you can handle the size, this is the best of the first week.
Tuesday the 7th of July keeps the energy high with 12ft SW swell, 16-second period, and a light SE cross-offshore breeze at 6 mph—glassy conditions. The combined energy is 6706, and the surf is described as exceptional for experts. The morning window is the pick.
We get a bit of a lull Sunday the 5th and Thursday the 9th with onshore winds and messy conditions—those days are write-offs for quality surf. Stick to the cleaner days.
Looking out to the second week, Saturday the 11th of July is another standout. A 15ft SW swell arrives with a 17-second period, and the energy meter hits 12344—very strong. Winds are light SSW, just a gentle cross-shore breeze, so a bit of cross-chop but still plenty of power. Crowds are often, and this is expert territory. The morning is the cleaner session.
Sunday the 12th of July cleans up with offshore E wind at 3 mph, glassy, and 10ft SW swell—excellent conditions for experienced surfers.
Monday the 13th is similar—offshore ESE breeze at 6 mph, 10ft SW, 15-second period, and clean. Another day for the crew who know the reef.
Things start to drop toward the end of the run. Wednesday the 15th of July has 4ft WSW swell, but the period jumps to 17 seconds, so the energy is still there (1708). Winds are light cross-off from the NE. Thursday the 16th picks up again with 10ft WSW swell and moderate breeze.
The best call in this whole run? Monday the 6th of July and Saturday the 11th of July. Both have big swell, long-period groundswell, and clean wind—absolute premium surf for the advanced crew at Surfers Point.
Rusty.
