Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
G'day, Rusty here. We’re looking at a long stretch ahead at Huzzawouie (Huzzas), and for a good few days from now there's not much to get excited about. The swell is pumping, but the conditions are mostly a write-off—wind and weather are messing things up. The first decent window doesn't show up until Monday the 6th, and even then it’s only for the experienced crew.
We’ve got a bit of a wait from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon this weekend. Saturday morning has a big 10ft swell from the SW with a very long 17-second period, but a strong 30 km/h cross wind from the NNE is making a lumpy mess of it (combined energy 4665). It’s just not worth it. Sunday is all onshore wind and rain, with the swell dropping to 5ft on the morning and a poor outlook across the board.
Now, Monday the 6th is where things turn on. The morning brings a solid 12ft WSW swell with a 15-second period under a moderate 25 km/h offshore wind from the SE—clean conditions (combined energy 5525). This is for experts only, as it’s well over 8ft. The afternoon gets even better: 13ft WSW swell, still offshore from the SE at 20 km/h, and the combined energy jumps to 6834. This is the standout of the whole period—big, clean, and powerful.
Tuesday the 7th keeps the quality rolling. The morning is magic with 12ft SW swell, a 16-second period, and glassy offshore conditions (combined energy 5922). It’s still expert-only territory, but the clean face will be a dream. The afternoon lightens up a little with a 10ft SW swell, but the wind shifts to a cross-off from the S at 20 km/h—still clean enough to have fun on.
Wednesday the 8th offers a mixed bag. The morning sees a 10ft WSW swell with a 17-second period, but a light cross-on wind from the N puts a few ripples on it (combined energy 5186). The afternoon cleans up beautifully, though: 10ft WSW swell, 15-second period, light cross-off from the SSW, and it’ll be glassy (combined energy 4241). That’s a good session for experienced surfers.
From Thursday the 9th onwards, things get shaky again. Thursday morning has a 10ft WSW swell with a 14-second period, but the wind is cross-on and the surf is choppy. Thursday afternoon is a no-go. Friday the 10th is even worse with strong cross-shore winds and a short-period swell on the morning. The whole week after that is dominated by onshore winds and rain, with the swell jumping up to 15ft by Friday the 17th under a howling 40 km/h onshore blast—completely blown out.
There’s a huge pulse pushing through on Saturday the 18th with 20ft WSW swell and a 16-second period, but it’s too big for this break and the wind is all over it (combined energy over 17,000). Sunday the 19th has potential with a 16ft SW swell and a cross-off wind in the morning, but again, it’s massive and only for the brave.
Water temps are sitting at 67°—that’s about 2°F warmer than usual, so nothing too unusual for now.
The best call of the whole forecast is Monday the 6th and Tuesday the 7th. Lock in those mornings if you’re an expert—they’re clean, powerful, and offshore. Crowds are a possibility at Huzzawouie, so expect company.
Rusty.
