Table - best surf conditions forecast for Noises over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming down the line for Noises. This is a consistent reef setup that takes a solid WSW swell, and the water is sitting at 67° – a touch warmer than average for this time of year.
We’ve got a bit of a wait for the real quality. The first few days are messy. Saturday the 11th has a 12ft SW swell with a 13-second period, but a cross-shore wind has it looking bumpy and marginal. That’s not what we’re after. Sunday the 12th and Monday the 13th are the same story – plenty of swell in the 8ft to 13ft range, with some very long 16 to 18-second periods, but the cross-onshore wind is keeping it choppy and frustrating.
The first standout to keep an eye on comes Tuesday, July 14th. Noises will see a 10ft swell from the SW, with a 14 to 15-second period. The wind swings around to a light cross-offshore from the NE, becoming almost glassy by the afternoon. This will be clean, giving us some real power. The combined energy is in the strong range (4251-3619), so the current will be moving. This is for the experienced crew.
That clean spell doesn’t last. Wednesday the 15th through to Saturday the 18th is a write-off – strong onshore winds, rain, and a lot of chop. It gets ugly. In fact, on Saturday the 18th, the swell blows up to a huge 18ft from the WSW with a 17-second period. The combined energy surges to an extreme 16631, but the message is clear: that’s too big for this break. The wind is also howling. If you’re a kiter, that might look interesting, but for paddling, it’s a no-go.
After that blowout, we get a gem. Sunday, July 19th, the wind drops to nothing – glassy. A 13ft SW swell is still running, and the morning will be clean and lined up. The combined energy is still very strong (5338), and the period is a solid 14 seconds. This is for experts. This is the best of the window.
The following week stays fun but not perfect. Monday the 20th afternoon goes glassy again with an 12ft SSW swell, and Wednesday the 22nd has an 12ft SW swell with a long 16-second period and very light wind, giving us another window of clean, powerful waves. Then on Thursday the 23rd, the swell pushes to 15ft with an impressive combined energy of 10468. The wind is cross-shore, but it’s still surfable for those who know the reef. The run fades out after that, with onshore winds returning from Friday the 24th onwards, and finally a last gasp on Sunday the 26th with an 12ft to 13ft SSW swell and a cross-shore wind.
So, the standout to pencil in is Sunday, July 19th – glassy, powerful, and for the experts. Tuesday the 14th is another solid, clean option. The long-range look for the 22nd and 23rd is promising, but with that much time to go, it’s one to watch rather than book.
Rusty out.
