Table - best surf conditions forecast for Noises over the next 16 days.
Alright, grab your board. Let’s talk about what’s cooking at Noises. This is a reef setup, and it’s for the advanced crew only.
We’ve got a solid run of surf coming, but it’s not all going to be clean. The water is sitting at 66° right now, which feels a touch warmer than normal for this time of year.
The first real action kicks off Monday afternoon, July 13th. There’s a 12ft swell from the SW, with a long 16-second period. The wind is a light cross-on from the SW, so it’s a bit messy. The combined energy is pumping hard at 5731. Not the cleanest start, but the size is there.
Tuesday, July 14th, is the standout. The morning has a 10ft SW swell, still a long period of 15 seconds, but the wind has swung to a light NE cross-off. That’s clean. The energy is still strong at 4309. This is the best window of the week. The afternoon holds similar quality with a 14-second period and light NE winds, staying clean.
Wednesday, July 15th, the wind turns nasty. Morning has a howling 25 mph NNE cross-off, which will clean up the face but the wind strength will make it a battle. The swell is 10ft with a 17-second period, so the power is massive at 4543, but that wind is a strong breeze. By afternoon, the wind goes cross-shore and it’s lumpy with a 10ft SW swell. Skip it.
Thursday, July 16th, is back to marginal. Morning has a 13ft WSW swell, but it’s cross-on with moderate rain. The energy is 6233, but the conditions are choppy. Not worth it.
Friday, July 17th, is a write-off. Fresh to near-gale winds, blown out, and the swell is all over the place. The afternoon is a 13ft W swell with a short 8-second period, and a near gale cross-on wind. That’s kite-surfing territory, not for us.
Saturday, July 18th, is a monster. The morning shows a 18ft WSW swell with a 16-second period. The energy is off the charts at 15590. But the wind is onshore and strong. The waves are too big for this break, even for experts. This is a dangerous, massive day. Stay out.
The swell drops a bit for Sunday, July 19th, but the wind is still onshore in the morning and cross-on in the afternoon. The 12ft SW swell is still big, but the conditions are choppy. Not the day.
The following week gets messy. From Monday, July 20th, through to the end of the month, the wind is howling onshore or cross-on most days, with strong winds and rain. The swell stays solid, with a few days of 12ft to 13ft SW swell, but the quality is poor. The one glimmer is Friday, July 24th. The morning has a 12ft SW swell, a 14-second period, and a light NNE cross-off wind. That’s clean. The energy is strong at 6846. This is another promising window, but it’s over a week away, so keep an eye on it.
To sum it up: Tuesday, July 14th, is your best bet for clean, powerful surf. Friday, July 24th, is a long-range hopeful. The rest of the time, the wind is a problem.
Rusty.
