Alright, this is Rusty, and we're looking at the surf at Noises for the next couple of weeks. It's an advanced reef break that really fires on a solid WSW swell. The water temp is pretty normal for this time of year, nothing unusual.
The start of the outlook is a bit ugly. The first couple of days are a waste of time. Sunday, July 5th is messy with a fresh crosswind and rough, lumpy surf. There's some swell around 5ft (1385 combined energy), but the wind is just no good. It’s not until Monday, July 6th that things clean up. Swell jumps to 11-13ft from the WSW, and the wind shifts cross-offshore. That’s when you start seeing real shape, with energy way up (6892) and clean conditions, though still a handful.
Tuesday, July 7th morning is a real standout. The swell drops a bit to about 11ft, but the period goes to 16 seconds out of the SW, with a light cross-offshore breeze from the SE. That’s top-shelf stuff for advanced surfers – clean, powerful, long lines. The combined energy is strong at 6423. That’s the one to mark on your calendar. The afternoon is still okay, but not as crisp.
Wednesday, July 8th morning is another beauty. Glassy offshore wind from the ESE, 11ft of WSW swell with a 17-second period (6680 energy). That's very long-period groundswell, and it’s going to run perfectly on this reef. The afternoon gets a little bumpy, but that morning is gold.
Thursday, July 9th goes downhill fast with onshore wind and poor conditions. Not worth the effort.
Friday, July 10th is a lot smaller, around 4-5ft, but light and cross-off winds keep it clean for a relaxed session.
From Saturday, July 11th through Monday, July 13th, we get another solid run. Swell size ranges from 8-11ft from the SW, with glassy to light offshore winds. Monday morning the 13th is especially good – 11ft SW swell, 16-second period, completely glassy (5123 energy). That’s exceptional for advanced surfers.
The middle of the second week, from the 15th to the 17th, is a mixed bag. There are glassy mornings on the 15th (around 6-7ft, 13-second period), but the wind gets strong again on the 16th and 17th with sizes from 7ft to 13ft and gusty side winds.
Now, for the long-range look, Saturday, July 18th is a monster. We’re looking at 16-18ft of SW swell (14527 to 16341 energy) with clean cross-offshore winds. But I gotta be blunt – that’s way too big for all but the most experienced. Energy is extreme. It’s a big-wave day only.
Sunday, July 19th drops back to a more manageable 11ft, and Monday, July 20th gives a solid 10ft of SW swell with a moderate offshore breeze from the ENE – a good way to close out the run.
So, for the standout calls: Tuesday, July 7th and Wednesday, July 8th mornings. Those are your best bets for big, clean, long-period groundswell. The second week offers a few promising mornings, but nothing quite as perfect until the huge swell on the 18th – and that one’s for experts only.
Rusty.
