Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s talk about Noises.
Right off the bat, the water temp is sitting pretty at 67° with an anomaly of about 2°, so it’s a tick warmer than average for this time of year—nothing extreme, just a little cozy. This is a serious, expert-only reef break that lights up on a solid WSW swell, and it’s got plenty on the way.
Saturday morning (July 4th) kicks things off with a meaty 10ft SW swell packing a serious 17-second period. The energy is massive (5166), but we’ve got a 19 mph NNE cross-offshore breeze cleaning it up nicely. That is a big, powerful groundswell—those long 17-second gaps will make paddling out a bit of a chore, but the quality of the wave on this reef will be top-tier. However, this is advanced territory; 10ft is not for the faint-hearted. The afternoon drops a bit to 8ft but the rip is still strong.
Sunday (July 5th) is mostly a washout. Morning has moderate rain with a chunky 5ft swell but a messy 22 mph NNW cross-on wind that’ll put a lump on it. The afternoon sees a bit of a shift with a 7ft WSW swell and a 9 mph onshore wind, but it’s still not clean. No score on this one.
Monday (July 6th) is where things start to get interesting. Morning brings an 11ft WSW swell (6129 energy) with a SE cross-offshore breeze at 16 mph—clean face, solid power. But the standout is Monday afternoon: 13ft from the WSW, 15-second period, and the wind drops to 12 mph from the SE, staying cross-offshore. The energy jumps to 7253. This is a big, clean, powerful swell on an exposed reef. Only for experts, but it’s a proper session.
Tuesday (July 7th) morning is a gem. You’ve got 11ft SW swell with a 16-second period, and the wind is virtually nothing—3 mph from the SE, glassy off the break. That’s exceptional. The energy is 6323, and it’s as clean as it gets. This is your best window in the first week. The afternoon gets a bit more wind from the S at 12 mph, putting a cross-chop on it.
Wednesday (July 8th) holds an 11ft WSW swell, but the winds are lighter and a bit flukey. Morning has a 6 mph N cross breeze, which is workable, but the afternoon shifts to a light cross-on from the SSW.
Thursday (July 9th) gets messy. Rain and onshore WSW winds ruin the shape on a 10ft swell. By Friday (July 10th), it’s a full-on blown-out mess with strong SW winds over 19 mph. Not worth paddling out.
Week Two Outlook (July 11th onwards)
Saturday (July 11th) and Sunday (July 12th) are both promising but with caveats. Saturday shows 11ft SW swells with moderate cross-shore winds—lumpy but surfable for experts. Sunday morning drops the wind to 6 mph from the SE, going cross-offshore on a 10ft SW groundswell (4956 energy). The real standout here is Sunday afternoon: 11ft SW at a 17-second period, with a light 9 mph SE cross-offshore breeze. Clean, powerful, 6948 energy. Excellent.
Monday (July 13th) is the highlight of the second week. 13ft SW swell, 16-second period, NE wind at 9 mph cross-offshore, and 7329 energy. That’s exceptional. The morning will be pristine.
The run gets messy again from Tuesday (July 14th) afternoon through the end of the week. By the time we hit Friday (July 17th) and Saturday (July 18th), the swell is huge—21ft on Saturday with 19756 energy—but the wind is a brutal 22 mph cross-onshore. Way too big for this break and blown to pieces. Even for experts, that’s not fun. That’s kite-surfing territory.
So, for the hardcore crew: your absolute standouts are Monday afternoon (July 6th) and Tuesday morning (July 7th) in the first week, and then Monday morning (July 13th) in the second week. That’s where the stars align for truly memorable expert waves. Don’t sleep on Sunday afternoon (July 12th) either—that long-period glass is magic on a reef.
Stay safe out there.
