The Lowdown
Alright, let's get into it.
First off, we’ve got a stretch ahead. It starts on Saturday the 22nd and honestly, it’s not looking like an easy paddle for the next few days. The swell is solid, but the wind is making things messy.
The water is running about 66°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so you can get away with a thinner suit if you’re brave.
The first real chance to get excited about comes later. The early part of the week from Sunday the 23rd through Tuesday the 25th sees a lot of onshore and cross-off winds, with solid 8ft to 10ft SW swell, but the quality is just not there. You’ve got moderate cross-chop and lumpy conditions. The wave energy is big – we're talking thousands of units (3451 to 3855) – but it’s not clean.
Now, Wednesday the 26th is a huge day, but it’s a problem. We’re looking at an 18ft WSW swell with a very long 18-second period. The energy readings are absolutely massive (20106 and 16484). The wind is light, but the swell is way too big for this break. This is expert-only territory, and even then, an 18ft reef break is a serious commitment. The tide and wind are favorable, but the size is the issue.
Thursday the 27th is a step down, with 13ft SW swell and cleaner conditions thanks to a cross-off breeze from the SSE. Still a big wave, but the shape is better. Wave energy is still strong (6143).
The standout moment, the one you’ve been waiting for, is Saturday the 29th. The morning session is the pick of the entire outlook. We’ve got a clean 8ft SW groundswell with a 16-second period and a light offshore breeze from the ENE. The wave energy is significant (3883), but the wind is making it glassy and clean. This is a high-quality option for experienced surfers. The swell direction (SW) is right in the sweet spot for Noises.
After that, Sunday the 30th and Monday the 31st drop off a bit in quality with cross and cross-on winds, but the swell sticks around at 10ft to 12ft.
Then, Tuesday the 1st of September is another gem. The morning is absolutely glassy, with a 10ft WSW groundswell and a 15-second period. The wind is glass, the energy is strong (3497). This is another top-tier session for those who can handle the size.
The second week sees a lot of cross and cross-on winds, but the swell stays consistent. Thursday the 3rd and Saturday the 5th of September both show clean conditions with cross-off winds and 10ft to 12ft SW swell. The wave energy on the 5th is particularly strong (6816 and 6719). Not a bad way to start the weekend.
However, Sunday the 6th of September brings another massive 20ft WSW swell. The energy readings are astronomical (16244 and 16176). It’s clean in the morning, but this is again way too big for paddle surfing. It’s kite territory if anything.
Overall, the best on offer is clearly the morning of Saturday the 29th and the glassy morning of Tuesday the 1st of September. Those are your windows for clean, powerful waves.
