Table - best surf conditions forecast for Noises over the next 16 days.
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let’s break it down.
The next 16 days at Noises are a real rollercoaster. We’ve got a solid swell coming in, but the wind is going to be the deciding factor for most of the run. If you’re an experienced surfer, there’s one window that’s a real gem.
The water temp is 67°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, so you might be fine in a spring suit.
The first real action starts Monday, July 13th. Early morning, we’ve got a chunky 13ft SW groundswell with a long 16-second period, pushing out a massive 7227 units of energy. The wind is a light cross-onshore, so it’s not perfect, but it’s workable. The afternoon drops a bit to 12ft, but still plenty of power. This is a reef break and it’s for advanced surfers only – the size alone puts it out of reach for beginners.
The standout of the whole forecast is Tuesday, July 14th. The swell drops to a still-very-chunky 10ft from the SW, with a 15-second period. The magic is the wind: it swings to a light NE cross-offshore, giving us clean, groomed faces all day. The energy is still strong at 4309. This is the window to get it. Expect some serious, long-period groundswell lines – it’s going to be powerful and hollow, so bring your A-game and a bigger board.
Then the wind turns on us. Wednesday, July 15th, the wind cranks up to 25 mph from the north, creating messy cross-chop. The swell is still 10ft, but it’s a write-off. This continues through the end of the week with strong onshore winds and lumpy, blown-out conditions. By Saturday, July 18th, the swell peaks at a massive 18ft from the WSW, but with a strong onshore wind, it’s just a washing machine – way too big and messy for any kind of enjoyable paddle surfing. The energy hits 26884, but it’s all for the kite crew.
We go through a long stretch of poor conditions from the 15th right through to the 25th of July. Strong winds, rain, and onshore slop dominate. The swell sticks around in the 8ft to 13ft range, but the wind is consistently from the west or northwest, ruining the shape. There’s a brief look on the morning of Saturday, July 25th – the wind drops to a gentle 9 mph SW cross-onshore, which might make the 10ft SW swell rideable, but it’s still fairly choppy. It’s a marginal call.
The final days, the 26th through the 28th, stay poor with strong onshore winds and rain. The swell hangs in there, but it’s not the kind of day you’d be stoked about.
So, the honest truth? Go for it on Tuesday, July 14th. That’s your best shot. The rest of the run is a lot of waiting and watching.
Rusty.
