The Lowdown
Alright, this is Rusty. Let’s talk about the next two weeks at Noises.
We’ve got a proper reef break here, exposed to the west-southwest swell, and it’s a consistent one for the advanced crew. The opening few days are a write-off, but after that, there’s a real window of quality.
The first decent surf shows up on Wednesday, July 22nd. The early morning is the standout. We’re looking at a solid 8ft groundswell from the southwest with a very long 16-second period, and the wind is light offshore from the east-southeast. The water temp is about average for the time of year, so no surprises there. The combined energy is pumping (5183), and the conditions are described as exceptional for expert surfers. This is the best on offer – clean, powerful, and well-shaped. The afternoon size jumps to 12ft, but the wind goes cross-off, still clean, but the tide might start to play games.
Thursday, July 23rd, is still good. The morning has 8ft swell with a solid 14-second period, and the wind is a cross-off from the east-northeast. The energy is moderate (2686). The afternoon glass off with a 5 km/h cross-off breeze from the northeast is the real gem – 8ft swell, clean conditions. It’s an excellent setup for experienced surfers.
Friday, July 24th, drops a little in size to 5ft, but the period is still 12 seconds. The afternoon is the better call with a light cross-off breeze and very good surf conditions. The energy is light (920). A good option for a cruisier session.
The weekend gets messy. Saturday, July 25th, is a write-off with strong onshore winds and a lumpy cross-chop. Sunday the 26th is even worse – huge 15ft swell but with a strong breeze sweeping straight onshore. The energy is massive (8711), but it’s a complete mess. That’s kite-surfing territory, not for paddling.
Monday, July 27th, has a big 13ft swell with a moderate cross-shore wind. The energy is strong (7221), but the wind is cross, creating a bumpy surface. For the advanced crew, there might be a few, but it’s challenging.
The second week looks promising again. From Tuesday, July 28th, we get a clean-up. The morning has 8ft swell with a light cross-off breeze, and the afternoon is even better with 8ft and a very light cross-off wind, excellent conditions. Wednesday, July 29th, is another cracker – light offshore wind in the morning with 7ft groundswell, and the afternoon is similar with 6ft. The energy is moderate.
After that, it fades. Thursday, July 30th, drops to 4ft, and the conditions are clean but small. Friday, August 1st, sees a pulse of 7ft from the west-southwest, but the wind is a strong cross-off, and the afternoon is blown out. The first weekend of August is marginal with moderate cross-shore winds and messy conditions.
The real standout here is the morning of Wednesday, July 22nd. That’s the one to circle. Clean, powerful, and long-period. After that, the mornings of July 28th and 29th are the next best.
Rusty.
