Table - best surf conditions forecast for Noises over the next 16 days.
Alright, grab a coffee, I’ve got the dope on Noises. This is a reef break that takes a serious swell, and it’s about to get a proper hammering. The water temp is sitting at 66°, which is pretty much bang on average for this time of year, so don’t expect any surprises there.
The first half of the week is a bit of a write-off, to be honest. Thursday morning kicks off with a 10ft WSW swell and a 14-second period, but that onshore wind from the NW is going to mess it up. Solid energy (3572) but it’s a no-go. The rest of Thursday and Friday stay messy with cross-shore winds and choppy conditions. Saturday and Sunday both have some serious size – 10ft to 12ft – but that cross-shore wind keeps things from being clean. The energy is ramping up though, hitting 2863 on Saturday morning.
Now, the window you want to watch. Monday the 13th is the first real standout. We’ve got a 13ft SW groundswell with a long 16-second period. The combined energy is massive at 7786. The wind is light from the SW, just a touch cross-on, but it’s light enough to keep the surface clean. This is too big for beginners – that’s expert territory. The wave quality is excellent, but remember, at those sizes and with a long period, this reef could be a closed-out freight train if you’re not on the right take-off spot.
Tuesday the 14th looks even better for the experienced crew. We still have a 12ft SW swell (15-second period) but the wind swings to a light NE cross-off. That’s clean, glassy conditions for the morning. The energy is still high at 5036. If you’re an advanced surfer, this is the pick of the first week. It’s a full-on, powerful reef break.
The middle of the second week gets a bit lumpy and windy again, but then we see a massive pulse around the 23rd and 24th. Thursday the 23rd has a 18ft WSW swell with a 12-second period and a combined energy of 8723 – that’s strong. The wind is light from the south, so it’s a bit cross-shore but not wrecking it. Then Friday the 24th is the big one: a 18ft SW groundswell with a 17-second period and an absolutely insane 34672 of combined energy. The wind is light from the SE, cross-off, and the conditions are forecast to be clean. This is a long-range forecast, so pencil it in but don’t bank on it just yet. If it hits, it will be a massive, long-period swell that will be a sight to see at this point break. It’s way too big for anyone but the most experienced.
The last few days of the outlook from the 20th onwards drop off in size, with 5ft to 2ft waves, clean but weak. That’s a surfable lull after the madness.
So, the standout for the whole run is without a doubt Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th for the best combination of serious size and clean wind. Then, keep an eye on the 24th of July – that’s the one that could be a proper legend, clean and huge.
Rusty.
