Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's coming down the pipe for the next couple of weeks at Noises.
Right from the get-go, we've got a hell of a run of surf. This is a solid, exposed reef break that handles a proper SW groundswell well. Water temp is sitting at 67°, which is about average for this time of year, so nothing weird there.
The fun kicks off Tuesday the 7th. There’s a clean 12ft SW swell rolling in with 16-second period and a light cross-off breeze. That’s serious power – the combined energy is 6420 (moderate to strong). This is proper expert territory at that size, but for those who can handle it, it's exceptional.
The next standout smacks us on Wednesday the 8th afternoon. The swell holds at 12ft from the WSW, period 15 seconds, and the wind goes dead calm – glassy! That’s a rare treat. The energy is pumping at 5723, and for an expert, that window is the pick of the week.
Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th mornings see the swell ease back. Friday morning is a more manageable 5ft from the WSW, cross-off breeze, clean and fun for experienced surfers. Saturday morning goes glassy again with an 8ft SW swell – another beautiful, clean session with a bit more push.
Now, Sunday the 12th afternoon is a real standout. The swell jumps back to 12ft from the SW with a very long 18-second period – that’s proper groundswell energy (8183). The wind is a clean cross-off. That's a big, clean, powerful swell for experts. Keep in mind that a period that long can make a beach break close out, but on a reef like Noises, it’s going to be lined up and heavy. This one gets my vote for the best of the run.
The first week closes out with more solid 10ft to 12ft SW swell and clean cross-off winds through Monday and Tuesday (14th). The consistency here is excellent.
Then things go to shit. From Wednesday the 15th onward, the wind swings onshore and howls. We're looking at strong breezes from the NW, W, and SW, blowing 18 to 28 mph straight on or cross-on. The swell stays massive – 15ft to 18ft through the 16th and 17th – but the wind will chop it to pieces. This is a write-off for surfing; honestly, with that much swell and strong wind, this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. That messy pattern hangs around for a solid week of poor conditions.
Finally, there’s a glimmer on Wednesday the 22nd. The wind eases, the swell drops to a more friendly 8ft from the SW, and we get a gentle cross-shore breeze. It’s still a bit bumpy, but the energy is decent (2811). Things might be cleaning up again after that long, windy week.
So overall, the absolute best of this run is the first week, especially Wednesday afternoon the 8th for the glassy perfection, and Sunday the 12th afternoon for the long-period, groundswell power.
Rusty.
