Table - best surf conditions forecast for Noises over the next 16 days.
Alright, let's get into it.
We’ve got a long run ahead at Noises, but it’s gonna take patience. This is a solid reef break, exposed to the southwest swell, and it’s consistent, which means when the conditions line up, it’s on. But there’s a lot of messy weather and strong winds to wade through first.
Alright, the water temp is sitting at 66°F which is about average for the time of year, so nothing unusual there.
Things kick off Friday the 10th and through the weekend, it's not great. We’ve got a 6ft to 12ft SW swell coming in, but the wind is cross or cross-onshore, and the wave energy is already strong. The report says marginal surf, and honestly, it looks pretty average. The early part is a write-off for a quality session.
Now, Monday the 13th is where things start to look interesting. The swell jumps up to 13ft in the morning from the SW, with a very long 16-second period. The combined energy is massive, but the wind is light cross-onshore. This is big for a reef, and it’s borderline for anyone but the experienced crew. The morning looks the better bet.
Then, Tuesday the 14th is a real standout window. We’ve got an 12ft SW swell pushing in with a 15-second period, and more importantly, the wind swings to a light cross-offshore from the NE. The report calls it clean. The energy is still hefty, but that offshore wind is a game-changer for this reef. This is your best session of the first week if you’ve got the skills for that size.
Wednesday the 15th morning is a tease. The swell drops to 6ft, but the period is very long at 17 seconds. The wind is cross-off from the N, but it's howling at 25 mph. The surface might be clean, but that wind is a major drama. By the afternoon, it’s even worse with lumpy cross-chop. Not worth it.
Thursday and Friday the 16th and 17th are a mess of onshore and strong winds, with the swell holding around 6-10ft. Poor conditions, forget it.
Saturday the 18th is a warning. The swell is predicted to be huge 23ft in the morning with an extreme energy reading. The wind is cross, but that size is way too big for this spot, even for experts. Stay out of the water.
Now, Sunday the 19th is another true standout. The swell drops to a more manageable 16ft from the SW, with a 14-second period. But the magic is the offshore ESE wind at only 6 mph. The report says exceptional for expert surfers. Clean conditions, big power. This is the one to circle on the calendar if you are expert level. The afternoon is still clean but a bit smaller and more cross-off.
After that, the second week (20th to 25th) is a mixed bag. The 20th and 21st offer some cleaner windows with lighter winds and 7ft to 7ft SW swell, but the consistency drops off. It’s not the same quality as the Sunday before. By Wednesday the 22nd, it gets lumpy again, and from the 23rd through the 25th, it’s a steady stream of strong, onshore winds and poor conditions. The swell is still there, but the wind is killing it.
So, to be straight with you: Tuesday the 14th and Sunday the 19th are your real shots at something special. For the experienced crew, that Sunday is the pick of the whole run.
Rusty.
