Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's get stuck into what's shaping up for Noises. It's a reef break, and when it's on, it's a ripper, but this is not a place for the faint of heart – it's an advanced wave, and a consistent one at that.
We’ve got a serious run of big swell on the way, starting from Tuesday the 8th of July. The water temp is sitting around 67°, which is just about normal for this time of year, nothing unusual there.
The main event kicks off Tuesday morning. The 8th of July sees a solid 12 ft SW groundswell rolling in, with that long 16-second period. That's got a massive slug of energy behind it – we're talking 6067 on the energy scale. The morning is a bit iffy with cross-onshore wind, but the real standout is Tuesday afternoon. The wind goes glassy, dead calm from the SW, with the swell still a meaty 12 ft from the WSW and a 15-second period. That’s the session for experienced surfers only – it’s going to be big, powerful, and absolutely perfect. If you’re not on it, you’re missing the wave of the week.
Wednesday the 9th is a write-off. Strong onshore winds from the WNW will make a mess of the 10 ft swell. Don't bother paddling out; it'll be a battle. Thursday the 10th cleans up, but the swell drops to 5 ft. The morning will have clean conditions with a cross-offshore breeze, and the swell energy is still moderate (1427). It's a decent option for experienced surfers looking to get a few without the washing machine.
The weekend looks pretty good too. Saturday the 11th, the swell jumps back up to 8 ft from the SW, and Sunday the 12th pushes it to 10 ft. Both days have clean morning conditions with light offshore or cross-off breezes. Sunday afternoon in particular is a ripper: 8 ft SW swell, clean with a gentle cross-off breeze, and a solid energy reading of 5119. That's another one for the experienced crew.
Monday the 13th is the top of the run as far as quality goes. Morning sees an 12 ft SW groundswell, 16-second period, with a gentle offshore easterly breeze. That's a dream scenario for a reef break – super long lines, clean faces. The energy is massive at 5507. This is the one to circle if you can score it. After that, the week starts to get messy with strong onshore winds kicking in from Wednesday the 15th onwards, making the big waves choppy and uncontrollable.
There’s a bit of a lull mid-week, but then the swell comes back around Monday the 21st of July. That Tuesday the 21st afternoon is a real sleeper hit: 8 ft SW swell, 15-second period, and dead flat calm, glassy conditions. That’s going to be a clean, ridable wave with good energy for the experienced paddler. Wednesday the 22nd still has some clean 7 ft swell left.
So, to sum it up: the absolute standouts are Tuesday afternoon the 8th of July and Monday morning the 13th of July. Get out there if you've got the skills and the hunger. The crowds at Noises can be a problem sometimes, so be prepared to share the peak. Signing off, Rusty.
