Table - best surf conditions forecast for Noises over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here with a look at what’s on the cards for Noises. It’s a reef setup that needs a good solid SW groundswell to get going, and for an advanced crew only. We’ve got a long window ahead, and I gotta be straight with you: there's no true standout days where everything clicks perfectly. It's a mixed bag of decent swell but messy wind, with a few moments where it cleans up.
Right off the bat, this Saturday morning, the 11th of July, we've got a solid 10ft SW groundswell with a period of 13 seconds, but the wind is a cross-shore 9 mph out of the south. Combined energy is sitting at 2820, which is moderate, but the conditions are producing a slight cross-chop. It’s surfable for someone who knows the reef, but not the pick of the week. The water temp is about average for this time of year, no major anomaly to speak of.
The afternoon improves a little: the swell bumps to 12ft from the SW, period still 13 seconds, and combined energy jumps to 3732. Still a cross-shore wind though, keeping it from being really clean. Saturday ends with similar vibes.
Sunday the 12th, the swell period lengthens nicely to 14 seconds, and we’re looking at 10ft from the SSW in the morning. But here’s the rub – the wind swings to a cross-on 12 mph from the SSW, kicking up a choppy mess. Combined energy is up at 5563, showing there's plenty of power, but those conditions will have you battling the surface chop. The afternoon sees the swell drop to 8ft, but the period stretches to 18 seconds – a very long period groundswell. Energy is high at 7098, but it remains cross-on. On a reef like Noises, that long period can be great for shape, but the wind is the enemy here.
Now, early next week holds some hope. Monday the 13th is still cross-on, but the wind drops right off. Morning has an 12ft SW swell with a 16-second period and combined energy of 6965. It’s a light cross-on from the SW at only 3 mph, so while it’s not glass, the lumps will be minimal. It’s a session for the advanced crew who can handle the power in less-than-perfect trim.
The real window comes on Tuesday the 14th of July. This is our best bet for a proper session. The morning shows 12ft of SW groundswell with a 15-second period, and combined energy at 4828. The wind goes cross-off from the NE at 6 mph, cleaning up the faces nicely. By the afternoon, it gets even better: the wind drops to an absolute glassy calm from the NNE at 3 mph. The swell drops a touch to 10ft from the SW, period 14 seconds, and combined energy is 3968. This is 'excellent surf conditions for experienced surfers' and I couldn't agree more. If you can handle that size at Noises, Tuesday afternoon is your go.
We then hit a rough stretch. Wednesday the 15th through to Friday the 17th is a write-off. Strong winds from the north and west, blowing 19 to 28 mph, creating lumpy, messy, and poor conditions. Swell is still there at 7ft to 10ft, but you won’t want to be out there.
Then things get wild. On Saturday the 18th of July, a massive 18ft to 20ft WSW swell rolls in, with periods up to 17 seconds. The combined energy readings are off the charts – 18339 to 18700. The forecast literally says the swell is predicted to be too big for this break. If you are an absolute charger, it might be a spectacle, but for 100% of surfers, this is a stay-on-shore day. Winds are a strong cross-on, making it even more hostile. Honestly, with those conditions, this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
Sunday the 19th is still big and messy: 13ft to 15ft from the SW, but the wind backs off to 9-12 mph. It’s still choppy. The week after that, from the 20th of July onward, we see the swell drop back down to the 6ft to 8ft range. The winds are all over the place, but by around the 23rd to the 25th, we get a string of days with clean conditions and a cross-off breeze from the ESE/SE. The swell sits around 7ft to 12ft from the SW, with periods of 12-15 seconds. These are consistent, clean waves, and combined energy stays in the moderate range (1496–4982). It’s not pumping, but it’s a whole lot more inviting than that stormy weekend.
So, to sum it up: Tuesday the 14th of July is the standout. Afternoon glass-off is your best chance for clean, powerful waves at Noises. The later window around the 23rd to the 25th offers some nice clean, smaller surf as a backup. For the rest of it, you’ll be battling the wind or the raw size.
Rusty, signing off.
