The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what Noises has in store for us.

We've got a solid run of swell coming, but the wind is going to be a bit of a handful at times. The water is sitting at about 66° right now, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so that's a nice little bonus.

We kick off on Friday the 21st of August with a 12ft SW groundswell, with a period of 14 seconds. The wave energy is strong. The wind is a cross-shore from the SSW at 9 mph, so it's going to be a bit lumpy. It's a big, powerful reef break and it's for advanced surfers only at this size. That 12ft is pushing the limits.

Saturday the 22nd sees the swell drop a touch to 10ft, but the wind picks up to 16 mph from the SSW, making for a choppy, cross-shore mess. Sunday the 23rd is more of the same with a cross-onshore wind.

Monday the 24th stays in the 8ft to 10ft range, but the wind is cross-onshore from the NNW and NW, so it's choppy and not worth getting excited about. Tuesday the 25th is a write-off with strong winds.

Wednesday the 26th of August is a big one. We're looking at a massive 18ft WSW groundswell with a very long period of 18 seconds. The energy is extreme. But honestly, this is way too big, even for a reef like Noises. The wind is cross-onshore at 19 mph, and it's just going to be a dangerous, lumpy mess. For expert surfers only, and even then, it's a maybe.

Things start to look up on Friday the 28th of August. The swell drops to a much more manageable 7ft from the WSW, period 12 seconds. The wind goes light and cross-offshore from the ESE at just 3 mph. It's clean. This is a decent window for experienced surfers, but the conditions are still a bit marginal.

Sunday the 30th of August has a solid 10ft SW swell, but the wind is howling from the NNW at 19 mph, making it lumpy and cross-shore. Not our day.

Now, here's where it gets interesting. On Monday the 31st of August, the swell is 10ft from the WSW with a very long 17-second period. The energy is pumping. The wind is light from the S at 6 mph, creating small crossing wind ripples, but it's manageable. The afternoon cleans up with a cross-offshore breeze from the SSE, making it clean. This is a good one.

But the real standout is Tuesday the 1st of September. The morning brings a 8ft WSW swell, 15-second period, with a glassy offshore wind from the NNE at just 3 mph. It's clean, it's got power, and it's a solid size for experienced surfers. This is the best on offer in the whole period.

And then, hold onto your board, Friday the 4th of September morning. We have a 12ft SW groundswell, 16-second period, and the wind is glassy from the E at 3 mph. The conditions are exceptional for expert surfers. This is a very promising window.

Finally, Saturday the 5th of September afternoon is another potential cracker. A 16ft WSW groundswell with a 16-second period and a light offshore wind from the ESE at 3 mph. The wave energy is extreme, and the conditions are clean. This is a massive, powerful swell for experts only. It's a long-range call, but it looks promising.

Overall, there's a lot of power in the water, but the wind is the enemy for most of the first week. The best windows are the morning of Tuesday the 1st of September for the clean, manageable size, and the morning of Friday the 4th of September for the glassy, powerful conditions. The Saturday the 5th of September afternoon is a big, expert-only promise.

Rusty.
