Alright folks, it’s Rusty here. Let’s have a look over the 16-day window for Noises. We’ve got a big, powerful swell train pushing in, but there’s a bit of a wait and some nasty wind windows to dodge before we find the gems. This is a proper, exposed reef set-up, so when it’s on, it’s on, but it demands respect.
The first few days are pretty average. Saturday the 4th brings a solid 8ft SW groundswell with a very long 16-second period, packing strong to very strong energy (3791), but a stiff 16 mph NNE cross-offshore wind is ripping across it. It’s clean in the sense of no chop, but that wind direction and strength makes it a tricky, blown-out affair. Sunday the 5th is a write-off with strong cross-onshore winds and poor conditions.
We start seeing the real potential on Monday the 6th. The swell jumps to 11ft and 13ft from the WSW, with a long 15-second period and very strong energy (5896 to 6903). It’s a bit of a beast—definitely one for the experts only at this size—but the wind switches to a clean 16 mph SE cross-offshore. It’s going to be big and powerful.
The standout window kicks off on Tuesday the 7th. Early morning brings a 11ft SW groundswell (16-second period, 6678 energy) with light, clean 6 mph SSE cross-offshore winds. That’s an exceptional call for expert surfers. Perfect, lined-up reef waves with plenty of push. The water temp is 67°, which is about average for this time of year.
Following that, Wednesday the 8th morning is your absolute pick of the first week. An 11ft WSW groundswell with a very long 17-second period and massive energy (7136), combined with a light 6 mph offshore breeze from the ENE. That is the recipe for perfection at Noises—hollow, clean, and powerful. Crowds are sometimes a factor here, so you’ll want to be early.
Things get messy again from Thursday the 9th through Saturday the 11th as strong onshore and cross-onshore winds ruin the shape, even though plenty of swell remains.
The second week has a few more promising windows. Look at Sunday the 12th morning: an 8ft SSW groundswell (13-second period) with glassy, clean conditions and a light offshore from the ENE. Excellent for experienced surfers. Sunday afternoon gets even bigger again with an 11ft, 17-second SW swell (7947 energy) but with a light cross-shore breeze—still manageable, just slightly less perfect.
Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th offer clean mornings with NNE cross-offshore winds and solid 10ft to 8ft SW swells. The energy starts to taper off (from 4607 down to 2354), but the consistency and clean conditions make for a good few sessions.
From the 15th onwards, the swell slowly backs off to 6ft and 6ft, and while the wind is mostly clean cross-off, the energy drops to moderate levels and the quality fades. The very end of the window, around the 18th and 19th, sees a slight uptick again with an 8ft, 12-second SW swell and clean but fresh cross-off winds, offering a final chance for a decent wave before the forecast runs out.
Best on offer: Wednesday the 8th morning—that 11ft, 17-second groundswell with a light offshore is as good as it gets here. Tuesday the 7th morning is a close second with that exceptional, clean 11ft swell. For the second week, Sunday the 12th morning is the call: clean, powerful, and a bit more manageable at 8ft.
Rusty.
