The Lowdown
Alright, let’s break it down for the imperial crew.
Noises is firing right now. We’ve got a clean 10-foot SW groundswell on a 14-second period, light NE offshore breeze, water temp sitting at about 67°F – that’s a couple degrees warmer than normal for mid-July. Combined energy is strong at 3777. It’s a reef break, advanced only, and crowds are possible, so get in early on that Tuesday afternoon (July 14th).
Then it goes south. Wednesday and Thursday the wind turns onshore and the quality tanks. Friday’s a mess with rain and chop. Saturday the 18th brings a massive 20-foot WSW swell with combined energy over 10800, but it’s howling onshore at 22 mph – blown out completely. That’s kite-surf stuff, not for paddlers. This poor stretch lasts through Monday the 20th and beyond – basically a whole week of nothing worth chasing.
Come Wednesday the 22nd, it’s game on again. A 12-foot SW swell, 14-second period, glassy conditions by afternoon – wind is NNE at 3 mph, dead flat. Combined energy 4247. That morning and afternoon window is a standout. Still advanced, crowds possible, but clean, lined-up reef waves.
After that, Thursday and Friday are marginal again – onshore winds, not great. Saturday the 25th is a write-off. Sunday the 26th fades. But Monday the 27th morning brings a clean 3-foot SW groundswell with an 18-second period – light SSE offshore. Combined energy moderate at 1041. Not big, but clean fun for the experienced.
Tuesday the 28th morning offers a 5.5-foot WSW
