The Lowdown

Right, listen up. Rusty here, and I’ve been staring at the charts for Noises. It’s a reef setup, advanced only, and it starts off a bit of a mixed bag before we hit some serious, serious potential.

The first few days are a write-off, to be honest. We’ve got a massive pulse of energy coming in on Friday the 18th of July – we’re talking a 18-foot swell with howling 25 mph onshore winds and a combined energy of 7808 that’s going to be a total washing machine. That’s not surf, that’s a survival mission. The whole weekend is blown out, so don’t even bother paddling out until the middle of next week.

The first real standout window opens up on Tuesday the 22nd of July. Tuesday morning brings a 12-foot SW groundswell (13-second period, so plenty of power) and glassy conditions with a light NNE breeze. The combined energy is a solid 3905, which is proper strong. For an advanced reef like Noises, that’s the call. The water’s sitting at 67°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so you might be alright with a spring suit.

Wednesday the 23rd is another cracker – clean 8-foot SW swell (14-second period) with cross-off winds on the morning session. That’s a solid, punchy option. The consistency is there, so you’ll get waves.

Further out, Thursday the 31st of July and Saturday the 1st of August look like the real monsters. The 1st of August, in particular, is showing a 13-foot WSW groundswell with a very long 18-second period and combined energy of 11489. That’s a serious, serious amount of energy. The morning has cross-off winds, and the afternoon is glassy with light winds. That’s a freight train of a swell, and at Noises, that’s going to be a world-class, heavy, hollow wave. It’s a long-range call, so it’s promising but not locked in yet, but if it lines up, that’s the best session of the whole forecast.

Overall, there’s a gap of poor conditions at the start, but from Tuesday the 22nd onwards, the quality picks up dramatically. The standout is the 1st of August – that’s the one to circle on your calendar.

Rusty.
