Table - best surf conditions forecast for Spot x over the next 16 days.

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it. We’ve got a solid run of groundswell on the way at Spot x (reef), starting this weekend and stretching all the way out into the back half of July. The water temp has no strong anomaly, so it’s about average for the time of year around here. You won’t need a winter suit just yet.

The first action kicks off Saturday morning, 11 July, with a 2.5m SW groundswell running at a 13-second period. The combined wave energy is already pumping at 2492 (moderate to strong), but the wind is cross-onshore at 15 km/h, so it’s going to be pretty choppy and a bit of a wrestle. Through Saturday afternoon the swell bumps up to 3.0m, same cross-onshore wind, so conditions are still messy. Not the best start, but the size is there.

Sunday the 12th brings a bigger, longer-period SW groundswell. Morning sees 3.0m at 14 seconds, still cross-onshore and lumpy. But Sunday afternoon is where things perk up – 3.5m at a very long 17-second period, combined energy hitting 8179 (strong). Same cross-onshore wind, so still not perfect, but the power down there is getting serious. This is reefy, so that long period will wrap in nicely.

Monday the 13th stays big at 3.5m, 16-second swell, but the wind is still light cross-onshore. The wave energy is still well into four digits (6049). It’s surfable and powerful, but lacking that clean face.

Now, here’s the standout window. Tuesday the 14th. Morning has a solid 3.0m SW groundswell at 15 seconds with offshore NE wind at 10 km/h. It’s gonna be clean. Afternoon goes glassy with NE light airs, still 3.0m at 14 seconds. This is your best bet of the whole forecast – good size for experienced surfers, super clean conditions, and that reef is gonna put up some beautiful shaped walls. Crowds are possible here sometimes, but when it’s this good early in the week, you’ll want to be in the water early.

Wednesday the 15th drops off quick. The wind cranks onshore, the swell drops to 2.3m in the morning and gets lumpy, then rain showers in the afternoon with a fresh cross-shore. Not worth it.

From Thursday 16 July through the weekend, it’s a mess. Strong winds, rain, thunderstorms, and lumpy cross-onshore chop. The swell hangs around 2.0m to 2.5m, but the quality is poor. There’s a day on Saturday 18 July where the swell goes massive – 5.5m, 17 seconds, with onshore winds. That kind of energy (17,194) is just too big for this spot and dangerous for anyone but absolute experts. Even then, it’s blown out.

Sunday 19 July stays big (4.0m to 4.5m) but with cross-onshore wind and lumpy conditions. Not ideal.

The second week gets quieter. Monday 20 July sees a drop to 2.0m, onshore wind, and rain. Nothing to get excited about.

Then, Tuesday 21 July offers another potential highlight. Morning glass with NNE light airs, 1.3m SW groundswell at 12 seconds. Clean, small, and fun for a log or a mid-length. The combined energy is only 1161 (moderate), so it’s not a power session, but it’s a glassy morning with clean little runners. Afternoon goes cross-onshore again.

From Wednesday 22 July through Sunday 26 July, the swell stays between 1.6m and 3.0m, with generally light to moderate cross-offshore winds from the SE or ESE. The combined energy sits in the moderate range (1400 to 4500). It’s clean for long stretches, especially during the afternoons on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th. This is a nice, consistent run of clean, surfable groundswell at a manageable size. Not the massive power of that first Tuesday, but reliable and tidy. Perfect for a solid session without the crowd pressure.

All in all, if you can sneak out on Tuesday 14 July, that’s the clear winner. Failing that, the glassy morning of Tuesday 21 July is a sweet little bonus. The second half of the month looks consistent and clean, just not as big.

Rusty, signing off.
