Table - best surf conditions forecast for Spot x over the next 16 days.

Alright, this is Rusty checking in with a look at the surf for Spot x over the next couple weeks. We’ve got a big, long period swell from the WSW lining up, but it’s a bit of a mixed bag with the wind and size.

We're kicking off Wednesday the 8th of July with a solid start. The swell is firing at 12 ft from the WSW with a very long 16-second period, giving us a massive wave energy (5506). The wind is glassy from the NE first thing, so it’s going to be clean. This is expert territory though, as that size is way too big for beginners, but for the crew who can handle it, it’s going to be epic. The water is sitting at 67°, which is bang on average for the time of year.

Thursday the 9th sees the wind shift onshore from the WSW, making conditions choppy and less appealing. The swell drops to 10 ft, but the quality takes a hit with the wind. Friday the 10th looks pretty grim with strong cross-shore winds from the S messing up the 7 ft SW swell (1991). The afternoon turns downright ugly with poor conditions.

We get a bit of a respite Saturday morning the 11th, with lighter cross-shore wind and a 8 ft SW swell, but it’s nothing to write home about. Sunday the 12th morning flips the script again though. Glassy conditions from the SSW, with a clean 10 ft SW swell (4457) rolling in – that’s excellent for experienced surfers. Monday the 13th morning is another standout: glassy again, with a meaty 12 ft WSW swell (5973) at 16 seconds. Very clean, very powerful, proper expert territory.

Tuesday the 14th looks like the best call for a session that isn't just for the elite. We get a clean offshore breeze from the ENE all day. The swell is a very surfable 10 ft from the SW (3565), and it’s still a long-period groundswell. This is a proper highlight.

After that, things get messy. From Wednesday the 15th through to the start of the following week, the wind turns nasty, blowing onshore and cross-shore with strong to gale-force winds, ruining the wave quality. There’s a massive spike in swell size starting Sunday the 19th of July, with waves hitting 21 ft up to 25 ft from the W. The combined energy is off the charts (13797 to 20680), but these swells are way too big for Spot x, and the wind is howling. It’s a dangerous, unsurfable mess. Tuesday the 21st of July sees the size drop to a still-serious 20 ft, but with messy cross-shore winds, it’s a choppy, lumpy affair only for the most hardcore, and even then, it’s a struggle.

The final few days into the 23rd of July are a write-off with strong onshore winds and deteriorating conditions. There’s just no good window in that second week for a decent paddle.

So, the standout is clear: Tuesday the 14th of July. That's your day. Clean offshore wind, a solid 10 ft SW groundswell, and the break will be handling it well. For the real big-wave chargers, Wednesday morning the 8th and Monday morning the 13th are also special, with glassy conditions and massive, powerful energy. Just know your limits out there.

Stay safe,
Rusty.
