Easky Left Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Right then, let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for the next couple of weeks. I’ll level with you, the first week is a proper write-off for Easky Left. It’s not until later in the second week that we get a real chance of something decent.

The pattern starts with a real nothing burger. From Monday the 20th right through to Thursday the 23rd, it’s a total washout. We’ve got a northerly wind blowing right onto the face, pushing tiny, weak swell around. The energy is pathetic, barely cracking 100 (123) at its best, and the water’s a notably warm 64°F — that’s way above average for this time of year, about 5°F warmer than normal. It feels like a bath, but with no waves to enjoy. That’s a solid four-day gap with nothing to recommend.

We get a little flicker of hope on Friday the 24th. The swell bumps up to 6 ft from the WNW, with a period of 9 seconds, and the wind swings to a cross-offshore. The energy jumps to a moderate 416. It’s a marginal call, but the clean conditions make it the most interesting we’ve seen. It’s not a standout, but it’s the best of a bad lot early on.

Then the weekend gets ugly again. Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th see a big, raw swell — 10 ft dropping to 8 ft from the WNW. That’s expert-only territory, over 8 ft, but the wind is cross-onshore and choppy. The energy is huge, hitting 1575 and 1265, but it’s all blown out and messy. Easky Left is a reef, so it could handle the size, but with that wind, it’s just a washing machine. Honestly, if you’re a kiter, the setup on Saturday morning with that power and cross-onshore wind might look interesting, but for paddle surfing, it’s a hard pass.

The real light at the end of the tunnel is Thursday the 30th of July. The morning looks like a proper standout. We’ve got a clean 8 ft NW swell, with a 9-second period, and a gentle cross-offshore breeze. The energy is massive at 1653. That’s a lot of power, but the conditions are described as excellent for experienced surfers. This is a big, powerful reef wave, and with the wind cleaning it up, it’s the one to circle on the calendar. If you’re an advanced surfer, this is your window. The only downside is that for a spot this consistent and this good, you can expect crowds to be a factor.

After that, it drops off. Friday the 31st and Saturday the 1st of August offer smaller, cleaner 3 ft to 4 ft waves from the north, but the energy is weak (211 to 300). It’s surfable, but nothing special. The outlook fades into the second week with a few more offshores, but the swell is small and period is short, so don’t get your hopes up.

In short: the first week is a write-off. Hold out for the morning of Thursday the 30th of July at Easky Left. That’s the one.
