Table - best surf conditions forecast for Inch Reefs over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the table for Inch Reefs over the next couple of weeks.
Well, I gotta be straight with you – it's a tough stretch. We're looking at a long, quiet period ahead. The water temperature is sitting at 64°F, which is much warmer than usual for this time of year – that's a solid 5°F above the norm, so it's a strange one for a place that's usually a little cooler.
The first real chance we get to wet a line doesn't come until Tuesday the 14th. The morning shows a clean, 2ft windswell out of the west at 10 seconds, with a light offshore breeze from the NE. The combined wave energy is in the low-to-moderate range (128), but honestly, it's pretty damn ordinary, just small and weak. We get a similar, slight bump on the afternoon of Tuesday the 19th, with a 2ft west swell and a period pushing 11 seconds, showing a moderate energy of 147 – still not anything to write home about, just small and clean.
But hold on to your board shorts, because on Tuesday the 21st, things get a bit wild. We've got an 8ft swell from the WNW, but the period is a short 9 seconds, so it's bumpy and wind-affected. The combined energy is a massive 1168 – that's strong, powerful stuff, but the wind is swinging cross-shore and the conditions are marginal. That kind of size is expert territory, but the quality is just not there.
If you're a beginner, the bigger swell on the 21st is well over 5ft and will be a handful. Honestly, with that strong, short-period, messy swell and cross-shore wind, this setup looks a lot more interesting for kite surfing than for paddle surfing.
So what's the standout? There's no real gem here. The best you'll get is the tiny, clean 2ft from Tuesday the 14th morning, or the clean 2ft from the 19th afternoon. Neither are going to blow your mind, but with a light breeze and a clean face, they’re the only windows that offer anything close to a surfable wave. This is a long blank run for the area, and it’s a bit of a normal stretch of poor conditions. Forecasts change, but right now, it’s looking like a good time to fix your dings.
Rusty.
