Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, let’s look at what’s happening at Inch Reefs over the next couple weeks.
It’s a slow start, no lie. The first few days are a mess with onshore winds and junk swell. Honestly, you’re better off on a kite than a paddleboard if you want any fun. But it won’t stay bad forever.
Water temp is about 63°, which is a solid 4° warmer than normal for this time of year – pretty wild, you can ditch the thick wetsuit.
Come Wednesday morning, July 8th, we get a little window. Glassy, dead calm, with 4ft swell from the west at 9 seconds. Wave energy is moderate at 201. Not big, but clean and surfable. Crowds can show up sometimes, so be ready for company.
Then Monday, July 13th, another glassy morning with 4ft west swell, 10-second period, energy at 290. That afternoon goes cross-offshore and clean with 4ft waves. The break is fairly consistent, so it’s looking okay.
The real standout is Tuesday morning, July 14th. Glassy, calm, and a 6ft west swell with 9-second period. Energy hits 538 – solid moderate juice. The swell direction matches the optimum southwest pretty well for this exposed point. This is a point break for advanced surfers, and 6ft is a good size for experienced crew. Clean, lined-up waves. That’s the best of the whole run.
After that, it gets dicey. Thursday, July 16th, we get a massive 10ft west swell, energy at 1748 – strong. But the file says it’s too big for this break, so only for experts, and even then it’s hairy. Wind is light and cross-off, so it’ll be clean, but this is for the brave only.
Second week fades fast – small, weak swell and poor conditions by Saturday, July 18th. So your best bets are July 8th, July 13th morning, and especially Tuesday July 14th morning.
Stay safe out there.
