Table - best surf conditions forecast for Inch Reefs over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s look at what’s coming up for Inch Reefs.
Right off the bat, the standout surf arrives Thursday morning, July 9. We’ve got a solid 5ft swell rolling in from the West, and the wind is glassy out of the West at just 3 mph. That’s as clean as it gets, absolute perfection for an advanced point break like this. The water is sitting at 64°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, so you can leave the thick rubber at home. The combined energy is moderate, coming in at 326, so there’s plenty of push behind those sets. Thursday afternoon stays good too, with a 5ft West swell and light cross-offshore breeze, keeping things clean and racy.
Friday, July 10, drops off a notch. The morning has 3ft from the WSW with a light cross-off breeze, but it’s just ordinary conditions - surfable but nothing to write home about. Friday afternoon gets even smaller, down to 2ft.
Then we hit a long, slow gap. From Saturday, July 11, all the way through to Wednesday, July 23, it’s basically flat or tiny stuff under 2ft. There’s a few pulses of longer period swell in there, like Sunday the 12th with a 21-second period, but the height is only 0.3ft, so it’s not doing anything for a paddle surfer. The energy readings are mostly weak, under 100, with a few brief moderate blips around 130-145 on the 14th and 17th, but the swell height just isn’t there to make them worth a trip. The only real bright spot in that stretch is Tuesday morning, July 14, with 2ft and a glassy offshore breeze out of the East at 3 mph - that’s the cleanest wave of that quiet week, but it’s tiny.
Thursday, July 23, offers a little hope. Morning brings 1ft from the West with glassy conditions again, and the combined energy is a weak 38. It’s small, but if you’re desperate and want a clean longboard session, that might be your window. After that, Friday the 24th stays small and crossed-up.
So, your best bet is absolutely Thursday, July 9 at Inch Reefs. That’s the one. After that, it’s a long, flat slog until the 23rd, and even then it’s marginal. Keep an eye on the sky, because it tends not to stay this poor forever, and forecasts can change.
Rusty.
