Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s cooking for Inch Reefs over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, the water’s sitting at 63°, which is 4° above the long-term average – that’s much warmer than usual for this time of year, so you can leave the thick rubber at home.
The pattern starts pretty grim. Sunday the 5th and Monday the 6th are a write-off with poor surf and onshore winds. Tuesday the 7th is only marginal with a small 4ft swell from the WNW and cross-onshore wind – not worth getting excited about.
Then we get our first glimpse of hope mid-week. Wednesday morning the 8th looks like the best early call. It’s glassy and clean with a 4ft swell from the west, 9-second period, and moderate wave energy (263). That’s a solid, fun-sized wave for the more advanced crew at this point break, with potential for a few clean ones. Crowds can show up here sometimes, so get in early.
Things go a bit ordinary again through Thursday and Friday, but stay on it.
Now, here’s the standout: Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th. Monday morning brings a 4ft W swell at 11 seconds, building to 4ft in the afternoon – that’s long-period groundswell, packed with energy (363 combined). And the wind? Offshore from the ENE all day, keeping things clean and lined up. This is the best run of the whole outlook. Tuesday morning follows up with 3ft from the W, 10 seconds, and light offshore NE winds (203 energy). Still very clean and fun. For a point break like this, that long-period groundswell is going to wrap in nicely.
After that, the swell fades. From Wednesday the 15th onward, we’re looking at small, gutless waves dropping below 2ft, and by the weekend of the 19th and 20th, it’s mostly flat with only tiny, weak pulses. Not worth paddling out for.
So, bottom line: Skip the first week, but circle Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th – those are the days to be in the water. The long-range stuff around the 19th shows a bit of a bump (7ft from the W on the afternoon of the 19th) but it comes with cross-onshore wind and a short period of 8 seconds, so it’s likely messy and only for the keen.
Rusty out.
