Table - best surf conditions forecast for Inch Reefs over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it. The next 16 days start off with a bit of a whimper, but there’s a late surge of size that’ll get the heart pumping. We’ve got a long stretch of tiny, pretty ordinary conditions to sit through first, so patience is the name of the game.
The only real standout on the whole chart is Inch Reefs, a proper advanced point break. It’s exposed to the SW swell, and that’s the direction we want to see for it to really line up. The water temp is about average for this time of year, nothing to write home about.
We start on Friday, July 10th. The morning is a write-off with a weak 3ft WSW swell at 9 seconds and cross-off winds. The afternoon picks up a little energy to 4ft from the WNW, still cross-off, and the combined energy hits 315 (moderate). It’s clean, but it’s really just a warm-up, not the main event. The next day, Saturday July 11th, is a total dud – barely a ripple. That sets the tone for a long, frustrating gap. From Sunday July 12th right through to Wednesday July 22nd, the surf is virtually non-existent. There are a few moments where the energy nudges into the triple digits (like on Tuesday July 14th, with 153), but the swell heights are tiny, mostly under 2ft. It’s a real flat spell. You’ll be checking the forecast every day, hoping for a change.
Then, on Thursday July 23rd, things get interesting. The morning brings a 7ft W swell at 8 seconds, but it’s onshore wind from the SW making it ugly. The combined energy jumps to 525 (strong). By the afternoon, that swell pushes to 8ft from the W at 10 seconds, with energy roaring to 1283 (very strong). That’s a serious amount of juice. Now, that’s a big wave for a point break, and with onshore wind, it’s going to be a washing machine. This is one for the experts only, and even then, the conditions are marginal. That onshore wind is a killer. It looks more like a day for the tow-in crew or maybe the kite surfers, honestly.
The final days, July 24th and 25th, are messy. On Saturday July 25th, we get a 7ft W swell at 10 seconds with a cross-on wind from the SSW and a combined energy of 986 (very strong). Again, it’s big, it’s powerful, but it’s not clean. The setup is more about raw power than perfect shape.
So, the only real standout in this entire 16-day window is that Thursday July 23rd, purely for the sheer size and energy. But don’t get hyped – it’s compromised by the wind. If you’re a seasoned charger, it’s a look, but for everyone else, it’s a skip. The long wait for anything rideable is the real story here.
Rusty.
