Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's get into it. We've got a bit of a mixed bag on the radar for Inch Reefs over the next couple of weeks. The first few days are a write-off if you're looking for anything decent, but there's some real promise hiding in the middle of the window.
The best of the best for this whole period lands on Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th of July. Saturday morning at Inch Reefs (a point break, exposed to SW swell) is the standout. We're looking at a clean 4ft swell from the west with a nice 10-second period. The energy is moderate (294), and with a glassy morning, it's going to be smooth. Sunday the 14th morning is a very close second; glassy again with 3ft of clean west swell and the same 10-second period (240). Less size but still beautiful shape. Keep an eye on the crowds though – it can get busy there, but for these conditions, it's worth fighting for a peak.
Right, let's break it down day by day.
The forecast starts up right now, today the 5th of July, but you can forget about it. Onshore south-west wind is ruining a 5ft swell. The water temps are about average for this time of year.
Monday the 6th is more of the same – onshore wind and poor conditions. No point suiting up.
Tuesday the 7th of July is where it turns. Morning glass-off conditions with a clean 4ft west swell (213). The period is 9 seconds so it's not going to have incredible power, but it will be a fun, clean wave. The afternoon gets a little cross-on, so get your session in early.
Wednesday the 8th of July: Another glassy morning, this time with a 4ft west swell (258). Again, the window is the morning.
Thursday the 9th of July: Kick-off your long weekend right. The wind is dead calm, glassy as the ocean can be. We've got 5ft of west swell (319), the biggest of the week so far. For you stronger paddlers, this is a gem. The afternoon gets a little messy with cross-shore wind.
Friday the 10th of July and Saturday the 11th see a big drop in swell size down to tiny 0.3ft conditions.
We gap through a couple more days with no real surf until the standout window arrives.
Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th of July: As I said, these are your days. Monday morning with the glass and 4ft is the pick. Tuesday is slightly smaller but still very clean.
Wednesday the 15th of July the wind turns onshore and we get a tiny 0.5ft windswell – back to flat.
From the 16th of July onwards, it's all small, clean but weak waves. We get a few ankle-biters on the 16th and 17th, but nothing that will get the heart racing. The energy drops off a cliff after the 14th, so your best bet is to lock in a session around the 13th and 14th. Stay keen, the ocean owes us one.
Rusty.
