Table - best surf conditions forecast for Inch Reefs over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for Inch Reefs.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – it's a lean start and a long, frustrating run ahead. We've got a bit of a tease to kick things off, but then the cupboard is basically bare for a solid week and a half. The standout window is tight and closes fast.
The first bit of hope arrives on Wednesday afternoon, the 8th of July. It's not perfect, but we're looking at a 4ft swell from the west, with a 10-second period pushing a moderate 316 units of combined energy. The wind is a light cross-on from the WNW at 6 mph, so it's a little bumpy, but it's surfable. The water is 64°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, so you can leave the thick rubber at home.
The real window, the best we're going to get in this whole outlook, is Thursday morning, the 9th of July. This is the one to circle. The swell bumps up a touch to 5ft from the west, with a solid 9-second period and energy climbing to 326. The real kicker is the wind – it's glassy, dead calm from the WSW at 3 mph. That means clean, smooth lines rolling into that point. For a point break like Inch Reefs, this is as good as it gets. The southeast direction of the swell is a sweet match for the break's optimum, and the sets will have proper shape. It's a fairly consistent spot, and with the magic like this, you can expect a few others out there for company.
By Thursday afternoon, the wind swings cross-shore and the swell drops a touch, but it's still a 5ft option. Friday morning the 10th is a drop-off in size, down to 3ft, but the wind is clean and cross-off, so if you're desperate for a small-wave slide, it's there.
Then it all goes quiet. From Saturday the 11th right through to Thursday the 23rd of July, the swell collapses. We're looking at ankle-to-knee high dribble, often with poor winds or complete onshores. The energy readings are mostly in the double digits – weak, lifeless. There's a brief moment on Tuesday the 14th where a 2ft west swell shows up, but it's not enough to get excited about, and the winds are messy. The 16-day window closes out with a series of strong, gusty winds from the NW, just making a mess of the tiny waves.
In short, if you don't grab that Thursday morning session, you're in for a long wait. The forecasts can always change, but for now, it's a one-hit wonder.
Rusty.
