Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let's get into it.
We're looking at a pretty long stretch ahead at Bundoran. First thing's first, there's no surf to speak of for the first few days. The tail end of this week and the weekend are a write-off. We’ve got a solid gap from now right through to the end of next week before anything decent shows up.
The water temp is sitting around the seasonal norm for now, nothing wild to report on that front.
So, here’s the story. The first real glimmer of hope is Bundoran (Ireland) itself. Things stay flat and messy until we get to the second week. You’ll see some tiny, weak swell and sloppy winds for days, with the combined energy struggling to hit double digits – it’s just not there.
Then, all of a sudden, things get interesting around Monday, July 13th. That morning is the standout of the entire outlook. We've got a solid 5 ft groundswell from the west, with a nice 12-second period making it a proper groundswell. The combined energy jumps right up to 535 – that’s some proper power and shape. The wind is light offshore from the southeast, which is clean, glassy magic. This is the one to circle on your calendar. It’s a reef set-up, so expect some proper, wedgy lines. The direction is spot-on, and for a Monday, the crowd factor is a concern as it *sometimes* gets busy, but it’s worth the paddle.
Following that, Tuesday morning (July 14th) the wind swings onshore and kills the quality, dropping the energy right back down to 168. We get a little reprieve on Wednesday, July 15th – the morning session has some clean, cross-off wind with 4 ft at 10 seconds (energy 308). It’s a solid, clean surf, but it’s not the classic, pumping peak we see on Monday.
After that, the end of the week fades into small, weak, and cross-off conditions that are barely rideable. The second week’s promise is really that one Monday morning.
Rusty.
