Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what we’ve got on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta say it – the first week and a half is a bit of a struggle. The wind is messy, the swell is small, and honestly, for a spot like Bundoran, it’s a frustrating run of flat, choppy, and just plain ordinary conditions. The water temperature is sitting at 63°, which is a good 6° warmer than usual for this time of year – that’s a proper warm anomaly, feels more like a late summer swim than a July paddle.
The first real glimmer of hope doesn’t show up until Wednesday morning, July 8th. It’s not big, just 3ft of swell from the west with a 9-second period, but the wind is glassy. That’s a total game-changer. Combined wave energy is moderate at 157. It’s small, but it’ll be clean. If you’re desperate for a paddle, that’s your window.
The next few days are a rinse and repeat of small, weak swells with poor wind. Nothing to write home about. We get a bit of a bump on Monday, July 13th. The afternoon session looks promising – 4ft west swell, 10-second period, and glassy conditions. The energy is moderate at 228, and the forecast is calling for good surf. That’s the best of the run so far. Tuesday the 14th gets a bit of a cross-off breeze, but it’s still clean, with 4ft swell.
Now, hold onto your boardies for the real standout. Wednesday morning, July 15th. We’ve got 3ft of swell from the WNW, a 10-second period, and proper offshore wind from the SSE at 9 mph. The combined energy is 218, and it’s clean. That’s the best combination of size, direction, and wind we’ll see. It’s not huge, but it’s good, clean, and lined up.
The following weekend, Saturday morning, July 18th, also looks decent. 4ft of west swell, 10-second period, light cross-off wind from the east at 6 mph. A solid 302 energy reading – the strongest of the whole forecast – and it’s clean. That’s a solid day for a long session.
Look, there’s no monster swell in this window, and the first week is mostly a write-off. But if you’re patient, you’ll get a few clean, fun windows. The best of the lot is definitely Wednesday the 15th and Saturday the 18th. Check the tide and get out there.
Rusty.
