The Lowdown
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the table for our local stretch. We're staring down a pretty lean 16-day window, I'm not gonna lie. The first few days are a write-off, but there's a glimmer of hope if you're willing to wait.
The whole period kicks off with a real dud. Thursday the 20th is a total mess with a strong cross-onshore wind and lumpy, poor surf. That sets the tone for the next few days – we're looking at tiny, weak waves and onshore breezes through the weekend and into Monday the 23rd. Honestly, it's a proper flat spell, so don't bother paddling out.
Now, if you're patient, things start to shift around Monday the 24th. The combined energy jumps to 313 (moderate wave energy), and we get a clean little swell. The morning is a highlight, with a WNW swell of 4ft and a 11-second period pushing in. The wind is a light cross-offshore, keeping the surface clean. The afternoon holds up with a similar WNW swell at 4ft and a clean 10-second period, with a gentle offshore breeze. This is the real standout of the whole forecast. The water temp is sitting at 62°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so you might not need the thickest wetsuit.
After that little burst, Tuesday the 25th and Wednesday the 26th see the swell drop right back off. The energy is weak, down to 86 or less, and though the wind is offshore and clean, the waves are just too small to get excited about. Thursday the 27th morning offers a tiny, glassy 2ft swell, but it's just not enough to call it a session.
The following week, from the 28th August through to the 4th of September, is a real mixed bag of small, short-period, weak swells. There's a marginal morning on Friday the 28th with a 4ft WNW swell (212 energy), clean but with a short 8-second period, so it'll be a little walled-off. The only other pulse of note is on Thursday the 3rd of September, when a 4ft NW swell rolls in with glassy conditions in the morning. The energy is a moderate 140, but it's only a 7-second period, so it's not going to be holding up great.
Overall, it's a quiet stretch. Save your energy for that Monday the 24th session – it's the best of a pretty average bunch.
Rusty.
