Table - best surf conditions forecast for Trez Hir over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s talk in feet and miles per hour now. It’s been a dead spell, and it stays that way until Friday, July 17th. No surf worth mentionin’ before that, so save your energy. Water temp is about normal – nothin’ strange.
Friday the 17th, Trez Hir (Plouescat) gets a pulse. Morning sees a WNW swell running about 6 ft, period a short 6 seconds – that’s a windswell, a bit lumpy and weak. Wind is offshore out of the WNW at 12 mph, so it’s clean, but the wave quality is just okay. Combined energy is moderate (241). Afternoon drops to 5 ft, still offshore and clean, but don’t expect much.
Now the standout: Saturday the 18th. Trez Hir gets a solid 7 ft swell from the WNW, period up to 9 seconds, with clean offshore wind from the WNW at 16 mph. Combined energy jumps to strong (565) – that’s real power. This is the best window, but you gotta hit the early morning because the swell dies to 0.3 ft by afternoon. This is for experienced surfers – 7 ft with that push is too much for beginners. The spot is inconsistent and rarely breaks, so if you’re there, you’ve timed it perfect. Crowds are possible, so expect some company.
After that, it fizzles. Monday the 20th morning has a 5 ft WNW swell, but cross-offshore wind and messy conditions – not worth it. Then a real gem on Friday, July 24th: morning has 3 ft from the WNW, period a beautiful 13 seconds – that’s a groundswell. Wind is glassy, dead calm at 0 mph. Energy is strong (390). That will be clean, well-shaped waves for points and reefs, but beach breaks might be too straight. Friday afternoon holds 3 ft, period 12 seconds, gentle offshore wind – again, quality. Saturday the 25th morning has 4 ft, period 10 seconds, light cross-offshore wind, just okay.
So your best bets are the 18th early for power, or the 24th morning for pure clean glass. The rest is a long flat spell, so be patient.
Rusty.
