Table - best surf conditions forecast for Trez Hir over the next 16 days.
Right then, let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for Trez Hir. I gotta be straight with you - it’s been quiet out there, and it’s gonna stay quiet for a long stretch. Grab a beer and watch the horizon, ‘cause we’re looking at a proper flat spell.
We’ve got a long gap of nothing to start. From Friday 10th July right through to Tuesday 21st July, there isn’t a single session worth getting wet for. The swell is tiny, the wind is messy, and the energy is next to nothing. You’ll see readings like 1ft and 1ft from the west or west-northwest, with combined energies barely breaking 100 – mostly just a weak sum of energy. The water’s a touch warmer than normal at 65°, nothing crazy there. It’s just a whole lot of nothing.
Then, on the morning of Wednesday 22nd July, things finally start to wake up. We get a pulse of 4ft from the west-northwest, but the wind is cross-onshore from the east at 12 mph, making it choppy, so it’s still a no-go. That afternoon though, the wind swings offshore from the west-northwest at a light 6 mph, and the swell bumps up to 5ft from the west-northwest with a period of 8 seconds. The combined energy jumps to 432 – a moderate energy – and it’s clean. That’s your first real chance, and it looks interesting. But the period is short, so it’ll be a bit crumbly.
Thursday 23rd July keeps the momentum. The morning offers 5ft from the west-northwest with a 9-second period, offshore-ish cross-off wind from the west at 9 mph, and clean conditions. Energy is strong at 441. This is one of the better windows, but the tide might be a factor. The afternoon drops a little to 4ft but stays clean.
Friday 24th July gets messy again with cross-onshore winds, so skip it. Then Saturday 25th July brings a final chance: 5ft in the morning and 5ft in the afternoon from the west-northwest, with cross-off winds from the west-southwest and west. Energy is solid, 326 and 379 respectively, and it’s clean. That Saturday looks like the real standout – consistent, clean, and some size.
If I had to pick the best two, it’s the afternoon of Wednesday 22nd July for that first hit of clean swell, and the whole of Saturday 25th July for the best size and clean conditions. Trez Hir rarely breaks, so this is a notable little window. Don’t expect perfection, but it’s something to aim for.
Keep an eye on it, my friends. The ocean’s been asleep, but she’s about to roll over.
Rusty.
