Table - best surf conditions forecast for Larmor Plage over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's talk about Larmor Plage.
Well, I gotta be straight with you—this forecast window is a tough one for surfers. The next week, from Friday the 10th through to the end of the first week, is looking pretty grim. The swell energy is weak, and the heights are tiny, mostly under 3 feet. The wind is often cross or onshore, so it's not gonna be clean. We're looking at a real drought here.
To make matters worse, there's a long stretch with no real hope. From the 10th right through to the 22nd of July, the conditions are scoring a flat zero for every single session. That's nearly two weeks of small, weak, and generally poor conditions. The wave comment is always "poor surf conditions" and the wave energy is often weak. For a spot that's "fairly exposed," that's a real letdown.
There is a glimmer of hope, but it's way off.
The best chance we have in this whole 16-day outlook lands on the 24th and 25th of July. On Friday the 24th of July in the afternoon, the combined swell energy picks up (moderate) with a 4ft swell from the WNW, with a period of 10 seconds. The wind is a cross-onshore from the SW at 12 mph, which will make it a bit lumpy, but it's the strongest swell we see.
The real standout is Saturday the 25th of July in the morning. The swell is a consistent 3ft from the W, with a period of 9 seconds, and the combined energy is the highest of the whole run. The wind is a moderate cross-shore from the WSW at 12 mph, which isn't perfect but is workable. This is your best shot at some fun, rideable waves. Don't expect perfection, but it's the only time the numbers say "go."
The water temperature is 67°F in that first session, which is a touch warmer than normal for the time of year.
Honestly, for the first 13 days, you might want to look at the kite surfers. The mostly onshore and cross-onshore wind combined with the small, weak swell at a beach-and-reef setup makes it more interesting for them than for a paddle surfer. Keep an eye on the 24th and 25th, though. Forecasts can change, and that late July window is the only one worth holding out for.
Rusty.
