Table - best surf conditions forecast for Larmor Plage over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer for Larmor Plage over the next couple of weeks.
Straight up, I’ll be honest with you – it’s a grim run for the next week and a half. The surf is tiny, the wind is mostly messy, and the conditions are junk. You’re looking at a solid 11-day stretch of nothing worth paddling out for. The water is sitting at 66°F right now, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that’s about the only positive.
The first real glimmer of hope doesn’t come until Monday, July 20th. We’ve got a little bump of 4ft from the west, and for the first time in a while, the wind is blowing offshore from the NNW (12 mph). It’s a short period swell (6 seconds), so the waves will be a bit soft and fat, but it’s clean, and it’s surfable. The combined energy is moderate (119). The surf break is Larmor Plage, which is a fairly exposed spot, so it does pick up what little swell there is, but it’s inconsistent, so don’t expect a set every few minutes.
The standout session is the morning of Monday, July 20th. That 4ft swell with that offshore wind will be the cleanest we see for a while. It’s not a big swell, so it’s fine for all levels, but don’t expect a classic.
After that, Tuesday, July 21st and Wednesday, July 22nd also have offshore winds and small, surfable waves (2ft to 4ft), but the energy is a bit lower. The Tuesday morning (21st) has a 2ft west swell with 12 mph offshore NNW wind and a combined energy of 76 (weak). The Wednesday morning (22nd) has a 4ft west swell with a light 6 mph offshore wind and combined energy of 95 (weak). These are okay for a cruise.
The rest of the window, from the 23rd onward, drops right back to tiny, powerless stuff. Not worth the wetsuit.
So, bottom line: If you’re desperate for a paddle, aim for the morning of Monday, July 20th. Otherwise, this is a write-off. The surf here is inconsistent at the best of times, and this is a classic blank run for the area.
Stay salty,
Rusty
