Alright, let’s talk local surf. It’s gonna be a quiet spell. The first real chance of a wave doesn’t roll in until Friday, July 3rd, and even then, it’s not much to shout about.
Friday, July 3rd at Larmor Plage – we get a small 4ft swell out of the WNW in the morning. The wind is light and cross-shore, water temp is a touch warmer than usual at about 66°, but the wave energy is weak (255). By afternoon, a fresh west wind picks up to 19 mph, bumping the swell to 5ft – but it gets chopped up. Not your session.
Saturday, July 4th morning cleans up – swell drops to 3ft from the west, light cross-offshore breeze, clean faces. Surfable but small. Afternoon gets blown out.
Sunday, July 5th morning – similar story: 2ft, clean but weak (93 energy). Afternoon onshore wind ruins it.
From Monday, July 6th through Friday, July 17th, it’s mostly flat or tiny. Swell stays between 1ft and 3ft, and the energy is in the weak two-digit range. There’s a glassy moment on Thursday, July 9th afternoon, but with only 2ft and 43 energy, you’re just sitting there. This is a long, dry run – over a week of nothing worthwhile.
Saturday, July 18th morning finally shows some life: a 6ft swell from the WSW, light cross-shore wind, and combined energy jumps to 394 (moderate). The period is only 8 seconds though – short-period, not a groundswell. It’s borderline, and Larmor Plage can get crowded sometimes.
If there’s a standout, it’s the morning of Saturday the 18th – the biggest wave we’ve seen in weeks, and clean enough. But for a beginner spot that’s inconsistent, this is a test of patience. Plenty of flat spells. Might be more interesting for the kite crew on that Friday the 3rd.
