The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you: Larmor Plage has got a whole lot of nothing going on for the next 16 days. I’ve looked this over and there’s just no good surf on offer. Not a single standout session in the whole run. That’s a long, dry spell.
We kick off with Tuesday, 14 July, and it’s a sad scene. Tiny, weak 1 ft from the WSW with a short period, combined energy is a measly 24 (weak). The wind is a messy cross. It’s basically a lake with a bump. That theme continues day after day. Wednesday the 15th shows a little more size in the afternoon, 3 ft and a 9-second period, with a clean cross-offshore breeze. The energy creeps up to 135 (moderate), but the waves are still described as “very ordinary conditions.” It’s just not enough to get excited about.
The rest of the first week is a total write-off. We’re talking 0.7 ft to 3 ft, short periods, and mostly cross or onshore winds. The energy numbers are all in the weak range, mostly under 100. It’s frustrating.
We do get a bit of a spike on Friday, 24 July. Swell jumps to 6 ft from the WSW in the morning, and the energy hits 416 (strong). But the period is a short 7 seconds, and the wind is a cross-onshore, making it choppy. The wave comment is still “poor surf conditions.” That’s a lot of water moving around, but with the wind on it, it’s going to be a mess. Honestly, that setup looks more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer.
The end of the run into the 29th shows a 3 ft swell from the W with a 10-second period (186 energy, moderate), but the wind is directly onshore. It’s a no-go.
So, the bottom line for Larmor Plage: there are no good surf options in this 16-day window. It’s a blank run. The break is already inconsistent, so this kind of quiet spell isn’t totally abnormal for the area. Stay patient, keep an eye on the charts, because it tends not to stay this poor forever.
Rusty.
