Table - best surf conditions forecast for Larmor Plage over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for Larmor Plage.
Right off the bat, it's a bit of a slow start. We're looking at a pretty quiet week ahead, honestly. The first real surf energy that's worth a mention doesn't build until the 20th of July, and even then it's just a touch of small, ordinary swell. The water is sitting at a warm 68°F, which is a lot warmer than we usually get at this time of year, so that's a nice bonus if you're just getting wet.
From the 12th through to the 19th, it's a pretty lean run. The swell is small, the wind is mostly cross or cross-onshore, and the conditions are described as poor. There's a bit of a bump on the 16th with some 5ft swell from the WSW, but the wind is chopping it up. It's a frustrating stretch of days where you're better off waiting.
The first real nod to something surfable comes on the morning of the 20th. We get a clean 3ft wave from the WNW with light cross-offshore winds. It's nothing to write home about, but it's the first sign of life. The combined energy is a weak 110, so it's not powerful, but it's clean. The 21st morning is similar with 3ft.
Now, the standout is the morning of the 22nd of July. The wind turns to a light offshore from the NNE, and we get a clean 4ft wave from the WNW. The combined energy jumps to a moderate 283, and the conditions are forecast to be good. This is the one to circle on the calendar. It's a proper session for a beginner to intermediate board, with clean lines and a bit of push.
Then, if you're an experienced surfer, the morning of the 23rd of July is the real gem. Swell bumps up to 6ft from the WNW, with a solid 11-second period. The energy is a strong 716, and it's clean with light cross-offshore winds. The sets will have some real grunt. This is big enough that it's not for the faint of heart, but for the crew who know what they're doing, this is the best window of the entire forecast. The afternoon of the same day also holds 6ft, but the quality drops a notch.
After that, it fades. The 24th and 25th have some small surf, but the wind gets messy again. The rest of the outlook through to the 27th is mostly small and poor, with a final glimpse of glassy conditions on the 27th morning, but only 2ft of swell.
So, to wrap it up: the first week is a washout. Get your gear ready for the 22nd morning for a good, clean session, and the 23rd morning for the real power. That's your pick of the bunch.
