Table - best surf conditions forecast for Larmor Plage over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – this outlook for the next 16 days at Larmor Plage is a tough one for the paddle crew. We’re looking at a long stretch of pretty ordinary conditions, with a few flickers of hope right at the end.
The issue is clear from the start: we’ve got a long run of small, weak swells and messy wind. The waves are mostly between 1.0ft and 2ft, and the combined energy barely gets into the double digits most days, often sitting below 100 (like 51 on Wednesday). That’s just not enough push to get excited about. The wind is all over the place – cross, cross-on, and some cross-off – but it’s rarely light and clean enough to make the small stuff look good. The water temperature is 65° on Wednesday, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that’s about the only highlight.
Wednesday 8th July kicks off with a 2ft WSW swell, but it’s cross-shore and the report says it’s poor. No score. Thursday 9th has a bit more size, 2ft, and a morning window with a clean cross-off breeze from the NE, but it’s still called poor. This pattern of small, weak, and messy continues right through the first week. Friday 10th sees a 2ft WNW swell with a 9-second period, but the wind is cross or onshore.
Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th have some clear skies and a few cleaner-looking moments with cross-off winds, but the swell is tiny – 1ft to 2ft – and the energy is low (49 on Saturday afternoon). Even the Monday 13th through Wednesday 15th period stays in the same boat: small waves, mixed winds, and consistent “poor surf conditions” notes. There’s a brief moment on Tuesday 14th afternoon where the swell reaches 3ft, but it’s from the W with a short 5-second period and a moderate cross-shore chop. Not worth the drive.
We then hit a real dead zone. From Thursday 16th through to Sunday 20th, the swell drops again. Heights are between 0.7ft and 2ft, and the energy is often below 50 (like 14 on Saturday 18th). The wind is a mix of cross and cross-off, but the waves are just too small to do anything with.
Finally, we get a glimmer of hope. Monday 21st July – that’s the standout, and it’s the only real chance in the whole 16-day window. The morning brings a 3ft SW swell with a 6-second period, and the combined energy jumps to 115 – that’s a moderate energy level. The wind is a light WNW cross-off, which should keep things clean. The report says “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions,” but that’s the best we’ve got. This is the one to aim for if you’re desperate.
After that, Tuesday 22nd July morning has a cleaner-looking 2ft WNW swell with a 10-second period and a light WNW cross-off, energy at 142. But that afternoon, the wind turns onshore and the swell jumps to 5ft – too big for beginners and messy for experts. The rest of the week into Thursday 23rd falls back into the poor category.
So, the honest truth: there’s nothing good on offer for the first 12 days. It’s a long, flat, and messy spell. The only ray of light is Monday 21st July morning. If you’re a beginner, the 3ft swell that morning might be okay, but it’s not a classic. For everyone else, this is a period to check the surf forecast again later. It’s a blank run, but it can always change.
