Table - best surf conditions forecast for Belle Ile over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here with the long-range look for Belle Ile.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – it’s a tough stretch ahead. The first week is a real grind with tiny, weak, and mostly onshore wind-driven junk. There’s a long, frustrating gap with nothing worth paddling out for. Honestly, for the first ten days or so, the only swells are small and the wind just won’t play ball. The one bright spot, if you can call it that, is Friday the 10th. The morning has a small 2ft swell from the WNW with a clean 10-second period and a light offshore ENE breeze. The water is a balmy 70°, which is a whopping 6° warmer than normal – that’s very unusual for the time of year and will feel like a bath. But even then, the energy is weak (94) and the overall score says it’s just ordinary. After that, it’s a long dry spell of poor conditions through the middle of the month.
Keep your eyes on the last week, though, because things get interesting. The period around the 24th and 25th of July brings a serious pulse of energy. On Friday the 24th, the afternoon sees a jump to a 5ft swell from the WSW, but that comes with onshore wind and messy conditions, so it’s a write-off. The real potential, and I mean the only true standout, is Saturday the 25th. The morning looks promising with a strong 5ft swell from the west at a 9-second period. The energy is massive, reading 441 (very strong), and it’s accompanied by a moderate cross-shore wind from the NNW. That wind direction could keep things semi-clean. This is expert territory, though – those 5ft waves pack a punch, especially on the paddle-out, and the shorter 9-second period will mean waves are a bit tighter together. If you’re a capable surfer, that morning window on the 25th is the one to chase, even if it’s a long way out.
There are no other standouts in the whole 16-day run.
Rusty, signing off.
