Table - best surf conditions forecast for Belle Ile over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again. Let's run that down in feet and miles per hour.
Honestly, mate, it's a rough start. We're looking at a solid week of nothing really worth paddling out for. The wind is all over the shop, mostly onshore or cross-onshore, and the swell is tiny with weak energy. For the first week, from Monday the 13th right through to Saturday the 25th, it's a write-off. The best you'll get is a one-star "surfable" session on Sunday the 19th afternoon, with a tiny 2ft of WNW swell, a clean-ish cross-off breeze, but the energy is still weak (67). Not worth getting wet for.
The real story starts to build towards the end of the month. The standout is undeniably Monday morning, the 27th of July. The swell is pumping in at a solid 8ft from the west, with a period of 9 seconds. The energy reading is a massive 1060, which is proper strong. The wind is a clean cross-off from the ENE, and the guidance says the optimum swell direction is SW, so the west swell is hitting it nicely. This is big, powerful, and clean. It’s expert-only territory at that size, but for the experienced crew, that’s the session of the window. The Saturday before, the 26th, shows a 6ft swell from the WSW, but the wind is a cross-on, so it won't be as clean. Also, the water temperature is about average for the time of year here.
The Tuesday morning the 28th has some leftover energy, 5ft from the WSW, with a clean cross-off breeze, but the period is down to 7 seconds and the energy is moderate (369). It's a drop-off from the Monday.
So, don't bother with the first week. The whole run is a dud until the 27th. That Monday morning is the one to circle, but you need to be experienced to handle it. The rest is just waiting for the next system.
