Table - best surf conditions forecast for Porsmilin over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for Porsmilin over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – it’s a slow start. We’re looking at a pretty poor run of surf for the first week or so. The good news is that there’s a pulse of energy coming in the second week, but we’ve got to wait for it.
The action kicks off from Sunday the 13th of July, but honestly, don’t get your hopes up for the first few days. The swell is tiny, mostly around 1 ft to 2 ft, and the energy is weak (combined energy values are down in the 15-58 range). The wind is a bit of a mixed bag, with some glassy moments on Thursday the 14th and Saturday the 18th, but the waves just aren’t there to make it worthwhile. It’s all “poor surf conditions” through the 19th. There’s a long gap where there’s nothing to get excited about.
Now, the real story starts on Monday the 20th of July. That morning, we finally see a proper bump. Swell comes up to 6 ft from the NW, with a combined energy of 346 – that’s a solid push of moderate wave energy. The wind is light and cross-off from the NNW, which means the lines will be clean. This is the first standout of the forecast. The afternoon keeps it going with 6 ft waves, but the wind picks up a bit, so get on it early.
Tuesday the 21st of July is the pick of the bunch. We’re looking at 7 ft swell from the WNW with a period of 9 seconds, and the combined energy jumps to 589 – that’s a strong, meaty swell. The wind is offshore from the N in the afternoon, making for clean, peeling faces. This is the best session on offer. This size is solid intermediate territory, and it might be a bit much for beginners, but for the rest of us, it’s game on.
Wednesday the 22nd of July still has size in the morning, with 6 ft from the NW, but the wind swings onshore from the SSW, which will mess up the surface. The afternoon drops off to 4 ft and the wind goes cross-off, but the energy is fading.
After that, we’re back to small, weak surf for the rest of the forecast, with a few clean mornings but nothing special. The 26th of July sees a bump to 6 ft, but the wind is onshore and choppy, so it’s a no-go. The 27th has some size but cross-shore winds.
So, to wrap it up: the first week is a write-off. The standout is Tuesday the 21st of July with that offshore 7 ft WNW swell. Monday the 20th is a solid runner-up for the morning session. After that, it’s back to waiting for the next system.
Catch ya out there.
