Table - best surf conditions forecast for Porsmilin over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Gotta be straight with you – the next couple of weeks at Porsmilin are looking pretty flat and ordinary. We’ve got a long stretch of small, weak swell and tricky winds. Let’s break it down day by day.
We kick off on Tuesday, the 7th of July, with some tiny 2ft W swell, but it’s crossed up by a NNW breeze and the energy is a meek 62. Not worth paddling out for. The water temp is sitting at 64°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least it’s not freezing.
The best chance we get is on Wednesday morning, the 8th of July. We’ve got a clean 3ft swell from the WNW with a 10-second period, and the wind is light and offshore from the N. The energy picks up to a moderate 109, and the conditions are clean. It’s surfable, but it’s nothing to write home about – just small, ordinary waves. The afternoon gets blown out again with a strong N wind.
Thursday the 9th holds similar small 3ft WNW swell, and the morning offshore NNE wind keeps it clean (energy 132), but it’s still just ordinary. Friday the 10th is the same story – 3ft WNW swell, light ENE cross-off wind in the morning (energy 169), and some glassy moments. It’s the best of a weak bunch, but I’d call it a "get-wet" session, not a standout.
After that, it’s downhill. From Saturday the 11th onward, the swell drops and the wind gets nasty. We’ve got a gap of several days where the waves are just too small and weak – often under 2ft with energy in the 20-50 range. The wind is either howling from the NE or swinging onshore, making it a complete write-off. By Sunday the 12th, we’re down to 1ft – that’s barely a ripple.
The second week doesn’t get any better. From Monday the 13th right through to Wednesday the 22nd of July, the swell stays tiny, mostly under 2ft, with periods all over the shop and a lot of cross-off or onshore wind. The energy is consistently weak – often under 60. There’s a brief uptick on Wednesday the 22nd afternoon with 3ft WNW swell and a 5-second period, but with a 15 mph N cross-off wind and only 103 energy, it’s still poor quality.
Honestly, this is a blank run. There’s no standout session, no big swell, no clean offshore window to get excited about. If you’re desperate, Wednesday morning the 8th or Friday morning the 10th are your best bets for a paddle, but keep expectations low. The forecasts can always change, but right now, it’s a waiting game.
Rusty.
