Table - best surf conditions forecast for Porsmilin over the next 16 days.
Alright, this is Rusty. Let’s break down what’s coming for Porsmilin over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, the next week and a half are pretty lackluster. There’s barely any real energy until the very end. The water temp is running about 19°, which is a touch warmer than normal for July—nothing drastic, but you’ll feel it.
On Thursday morning, July 9th, we’ve got a small 3ft swell out of the WNW, period at 10 seconds. The wind is a light NE offshore, making it clean, but the total energy is weak (132). It’s surfable but nothing to write home about. That afternoon the wind cranks to 19 mph from the NNE, still offshore, but conditions go downhill fast. By Friday the 10th, we’re looking at waist-high slop at 3ft, wind shifting cross-shore and then onshore with rain.
From Saturday the 11th all the way through to Sunday the 19th of July, it’s a wasteland. Swell heights rarely crack 3ft, often dropping to 2ft or 2ft, and the combined wave energy stays well below 100 most days. It’s clean at times, but there’s simply no power. I’d say a kiteboarder might have a better time than a paddle surfer in this stretch.
The first real glimmer comes on Sunday morning, July 19th. Swell is still small at about 3ft out of the west, but the wind goes dead calm, glassy from the ENE at just 3 mph. The energy is still low (101), but the surface will be like a mirror. If you want to practice in perfect, tiny waves, this is your window.
The true standout, and the only day that really matters, is Wednesday July 22nd. The morning brings 6ft swell out of the west, with a short period of 7 seconds. The combined energy jumps to 303 (moderate). Wind is a gentle NW breeze at 9 mph, cross-off, keeping the waves clean. This is the biggest swell of the whole forecast. The afternoon stays similar, with energy at 362 and waves holding at 6ft. For intermediate and above, this is going to be fun. Beginners might find 6ft a bit heavy, but it’s not giant.
After Wednesday, Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th still have 4ft to 5ft swell out of the WNW, but the wind stays moderate and cross-off, so it’s just ordinary surf, not special.
In short: a long, flat spell, then a glassy little morning on the 19th, and one solid day on Wednesday the 22nd that’s the clear winner. Be patient, and that Wednesday could be the one worth the wait.
Rusty.
