Table - best surf conditions forecast for Cobblestones over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a proper long look at what’s headed our way for the next couple of weeks. We’ve only got one spot lighting up the forecast: Cobblestones. This is a solid, advanced-level reef break, and it’s consistent. It’s exposed to the swell and likes it from the SSW.
So, the story starts this Saturday, the 11th. We’ve got a solid 9.8 ft to 11.5 ft SW swell rolling in, but the wind is a cross-onshore S at 9 mph. It’s a bit messy and choppy, and the combined wave energy is already strong (2820 to 3732). It’s not really delivering the goods yet—the quality is marginal, and for a spot this size, we need cleaner conditions.
Sunday the 12th sees the swell easing slightly but the period stretching out. The morning is cross-on with SSW wind at 12 mph, but by the afternoon, we hit a sweet spot: a 7.9 ft SW swell with a gorgeous 18-second period. The wind drops to a gentle 9 mph from the SW, but it’s still cross-on, keeping things a bit choppy. The energy is massive (7098), but that long period groundswell will make for long, powerful lines. Keen surfers will be out, but it’s not perfect yet.
Monday the 13th brings more of the same heavy juice, with 11.5 ft swell and a 16-second period. The wind is light in the morning (3 mph from SW), which is better, but it’s still cross-on. The energy is off the charts (6965). It’s a challenging paddle, but the waves will have serious shape and push.
Now, here’s where things get interesting. Tuesday the 14th is your standout morning for the first week. We’ve got a 11.5 ft SW swell at 15 seconds, and the wind finally turns favorable – a light NE offshore breeze at 6 mph. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so don’t expect a shock. The glassy afternoon with NNE wind and a 9.8 ft swell is a close second, but the morning wins for size and power. The energy is strong (4828). This is for experienced surfers only – that’s a lot of reef power, but it will be clean and lined up. Crowds are “sometimes” an issue here, so on a day like this, expect some company.
After that, Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th are a write-off. The wind swings around to a strong NNW and NW, blowing 19 to 22 mph. The swell is still 7.9 ft to 9.8 ft, but it’s lumpy, choppy, and messy. By Thursday afternoon, it’s officially poor with a score of zero. The quality just isn’t there.
Friday the 17th is equally grim. Strong cross-onshore winds from the WNW hit 28 mph, and there’s a risk of thunderstorms. The surf is 8.2 ft, but it’s a windblown mess. This is more kite-surfing territory than paddle surfing. Save your energy.
Saturday the 18th is a beast, but it’s not for the faint of heart. We’re looking at a massive 18.0 ft to 19.7 ft WSW swell with a 17-second period. The combined energy is astronomical (18339 to 18700). The forecast notes that the swell is predicted to be too big for this break. This is strictly for the absolute elite if it’s even makeable. The wind is strong onshore from the WSW. This is a “watch from the rocks” day.
Sunday the 19th drops back to a still-chunky 13.1 ft to 14.8 ft, but the wind is cross-on from the SSW, making it choppy again. The energy is still very strong (14375). Monday the 20th sees it fade quickly to 6.9 ft, but the wind is onshore and it’s rainy.
The second week, from the 21st onward, looks more promising. Tuesday the 21st has a clean morning with a light N cross-off wind, delivering a 5.9 ft SW swell with a lovely 15-second period. The energy is moderate (1808). It’s smaller than the first week, but it’s glassy and clean, and the long period will still give fun, peelable waves at this reef.
From Wednesday the 22nd through to the end of the run on the 26th, we see consistent SW swell in the 6.6 ft to 11.5 ft range. The wind settles into a steady cross-off from the ESE and SE, keeping the wave faces clean. The periods hover around 14 to 15 seconds, which is solid groundswell. The energy stays in the moderate to strong range (1762 to 4982). There’s no single epic standout in this back half, but it’s a long, consistent run of clean, surfable waves for advanced guys. The morning of Friday the 24th with a 11.5 ft SW swell at 15 seconds and clean E/SE wind is probably the pick of that stretch.
So, if I’m calling my shot:
