Table - best surf conditions forecast for Cobblestones over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it.
We’ve got one break on the cards for the next 16 days: Cobblestones. It’s an advanced reef break, and it’s consistent, but it’s no pushover. The water temp is sitting around 67°F with a slight positive anomaly, so it’s a touch warmer than usual for this time of year – nothing crazy, but you won’t need a 5/4.
The first week gets off to a rough start. Saturday the 11th kicks it off with a solid 12 ft SW groundswell (13-second period) but the wind is a cross-on mess from the south, and the combined energy is already hefty at 3732. It’s choppy and marginal. Sunday the 12th stays similar, though the swell drops slightly to 10 ft, but the period lengthens to 14 seconds. The energy is ramping up – 5563 on Sunday morning. It’s still cross-on and choppy, though.
Monday the 13th is the first real standout. Swell bumps up to 13 ft from the SW, period at 16 seconds, and the wind goes light and cross-on – just a light breeze. The energy is a massive 7227. It’s still a bit lumpy, but the size and power for the advanced crew is there. This is a big, powerful groundswell, so it’ll be running fast and deep, and at a reef like Cobblestones, that’s the ticket. The crowd is listed as “sometimes,” so you might have a few others out.
Tuesday the 14th is the true gem. Morning brings 10 ft SW swell, 15-second period, and a light NE offshore wind. Clean. Energy is 4251. The afternoon is even better: glassy, with a 5 km/h NNE cross-off. This is about as good as it gets for this spot – clean, powerful, and manageable size. If you’re an advanced surfer, this is the session to aim for.
Wednesday the 15th takes a turn. The wind howls from the north at 35 km/h in the morning, making it messy, and by the afternoon, rain showers and a cross-on 25 km/h NW wind ruin it completely. That’s a write-off.
From Thursday the 16th through Sunday the 19th, the wind is a problem. Strong NW and WNW winds, heavy rain, and swell sizes that swing from 8 ft to 18 ft. The energy hits a monster 24453 on Saturday the 18th, but the wind is a screaming cross-on or onshore mess. The forecast even says the swell is too big for the break on Saturday – 18 ft and 16 ft are just too much, even for experts. Not worth it.
Then we get a reprieve. Sunday the 19th morning: glassy. Flat calm. 13 ft SW swell, 14-second period, energy at 5338. This is exceptional for experts. The afternoon is still glassy, but onshore wind makes it a bit more marginal. Still, that morning window is gold.
Monday the 20th sees a slight drop in size to 10 ft from the SSW, but a light N cross-off and glassy conditions in the afternoon. Clean, clean, clean. Energy is 2527. This is a solid, fun day for the experienced surfer.
Tuesday the 21st morning is clean again, with a light N cross-off and 10 ft SW swell. Good. The afternoon gets a bit of cross-on wind, but it’s still rideable.
Wednesday the 22nd is a bit bumpy, but the swell ticks up to 12 ft SW with a 16-second period, and the energy is 8150 in the afternoon. It’s a cross-on, but it’s a light breeze, so it’s not too bad.
Thursday the 23rd is a standout for the second week. Morning brings 15 ft SW swell, 16-second period, and a light N cross-off wind. The energy is 10468. This is big, powerful, and clean. If you’re an expert, this is the session to circle. The afternoon gets a bit more cross-chop, but the morning is pure.
From Friday the 24th through Saturday the 25th, the wind turns onshore from the WSW and SW, blowing 25-30 km/h. The surf is still there at 8 ft to 10 ft, but it’s blown out and ugly. Avoid.
Finally, Sunday the 26th offers a last chance: 12 ft to 13 ft SSW swell, 15-16 second period, with a gentle cross-shore from the south. Energy is around 7100. It’s a bit lumpy, but it’s the best of the last few days.
Overall, the clear winners are Tuesday the 14th (clean, offshore, 10 ft SW at 15 seconds) and Sunday the 19th (glassy, 13 ft SW). For the second week, keep an eye on Thursday the 23rd morning. Everything else is a battle with the wind.
Rusty.
