Table - best surf conditions forecast for Lesconil over the next 16 days.
Alright, this is Rusty. Let's get into what's on offer for Lesconil over the next couple of weeks.
First off, I gotta level with you – the next week or so is a total bust. We've got a long, flat spell ahead. From now until the morning of Monday, the 20th of July, there's just nothing worth waxing up for. The swell is tiny, the periods are short, and the energy is weak. You'll see a few clean, glassy mornings, like Tuesday the 14th and Saturday the 18th, but with waves barely reaching 1 foot, it's more of a paddleboard session than a surf. The water temp is about average for the time of year, so no surprises there.
The first real glimmer of hope shows up on the morning of Monday, the 20th of July. The combined energy climbs to a moderate 280, and we're looking at a clean 5-foot swell from the WNW with a 7-second period. The wind is a light cross-offshore, which will keep the surface tidy. It's still a bit short-period, so the waves might be a little fat and won't have that classic groundswell punch, but it's the first real sign of life. It's a beach-and-reef setup, so it could be fun on the right tide. Crowds are often an issue here, so expect company.
Now, the standout moment is the morning of Tuesday, the 21st of July. This is where it gets interesting. The combined swell energy jumps to a very strong 972. We're looking at a solid 7-foot swell from the WNW, with a period of 9 seconds. That's a proper push of energy. The wind is a light cross-onshore, which will put a bit of texture on the face, but it's manageable. However, this is a big call: at over 6 feet, this swell is going to be too big for beginners and will be one for experienced surfers only. The break is exposed, so it will be handling all that power. The setup is a beach and reef, so with that size, it could get a bit unruly, but for the crew who can handle it, it's the best window we've got. If you're a kiter, this might actually look more interesting than paddle surfing.
The surf tapers off after that. The 22nd of July sees the swell drop back to 4 feet, and the wind turns onshore, making it pretty average. The rest of the week into the 27th of July is a mix of small, clean but weak waves, or choppy, onshore slop. Nothing else really stands out as a must-surf session.
So, to wrap it up: the first week and a half is a write-off. The best bet is the morning of the 21st of July, with a powerful, clean swell for the experienced crew. The 20th is a decent warm-up if you're keen.
Rusty.
