Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what's on offer for Lesconil over the coming weeks. I gotta be straight with you from the jump, it's looking pretty bleak for a proper session.
We’re staring down the barrel of a long, dry spell. The first real sniff of anything remotely rideable doesn't show up until Wednesday the 8th, and even then it's weak. We're talking a thin 2ft of swell from the WNW with a period of 10 seconds. The wind is offshore from the NW, which is a major positive and will keep the surface clean, but the wave energy is a paltry 97 – just not enough to get excited about. This is a beginner-friendly zone known for being very consistent, but right now it’s anything but. The water is a comfortable 64°F, which is normal for this time of year.
Thursday the 9th has a bit more push, with the combined swell energy climbing to 126, but the wind is a cross-off from the WNW at 12 mph. The swell bumps up to 3ft, but it's still just ordinary.
Friday the 10th afternoon is the closest thing to a highlight in this entire run. You'll get a light offshore breeze from the WNW, with clean conditions and 3ft of WNW swell. The energy is 130, which is moderate, but the period is a short 9 seconds. It's surfable, but it's just not going to be a standout.
The rest of the first week and into the second is a write-off. We have a few moments of glassy conditions on the morning of Tuesday the 14th, but the swell is a measly 3ft from the ESE with a pathetic 5-second period. The combined energy is a weak 53.
From there, it's all tiny, weak swell and poor conditions. There's a slight uptick on Friday the 17th with 4ft from the SW, but the period is still short at 7 seconds and there's a fresh cross-off wind. The setup here is beach and reef, but with that wind and weak swell, it honestly looks more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer.
Even the very end of the forecast window, around Monday the 20th, shows a little 3ft bump but with heavy rain and a fresh offshore. Nothing to set the world on fire.
Honestly, this is a tough one. For such a consistent spot, this is a blank run. There isn’t a single day that I’d call a true standout. If you’re desperate, the best bet is the afternoon of Friday the 10th for the cleanest conditions on the smallest waves, but keep your expectations really low. Forecasts can always change, but as it stands, leave your board in the van.
Rusty.
