Table - best surf conditions forecast for Lesconil over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cooking for Lesconil over the next couple of weeks.
First things first, this stretch is looking pretty flat and bleak for a good while. The water temp is sitting around 64°F at the start, which is pretty much average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
Honestly, the outlook is grim. We’ve got a solid ten-day gap coming up where there’s nothing worth paddling out for. From Wednesday the 8th of July right through to the middle of the month, the wave energy is just pathetic – we're talking readings in the low double digits and barely pushing 2 ft. The wind is all over the place, mostly cross or onshore, and the conditions are just junk. There’s a brief moment on Saturday the 11th afternoon where it goes glassy on a tiny 2 ft swell, but with that combined energy at just 76 (weak), it’s barely a ripple. Not worth suiting up for.
The only real glimmer of hope, and it’s a long way off, shows up on Thursday the 23rd of July. We’re looking at a bump in size with a NW swell pushing 5 ft in the morning, jumping to 7 ft in the afternoon. The combined energy jumps into the strong 500’s to 600’s (554 and 611), so there's some proper power behind it. The problem is, it's coming with a short period of 8 seconds and cross-onshore wind, so it’s going to be choppy and messy. Still, it’s the biggest push of the whole forecast. Because it’s a short-period swell on a beach and reef setup, and with those winds, this is honestly looking more interesting for the kite crew than for a traditional paddle session. Beginners should give this one a wide berth – over 5 ft is getting punchy for inexperienced surfers.
So, to wrap it up: don't hold your breath for the first ten days. The setup on the 23rd has some grunt, but the quality is poor. It’s a waiting game, and hopefully the forecast sharpens up.
Rusty.
