Table - best surf conditions forecast for La Torche over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, mate, it’s a pretty grim run for La Torche. There’s really no standout window in the next 16 days – the surf is tiny and the conditions are rarely lining up. You’ll want to keep your expectations low.
We start off on Thursday the 9th of July. There’s a small 3ft swell from the WNW, with a period of 10 seconds, and the combined energy is weak (136). The morning is the best of a bad bunch – clean waves with a light cross-offshore breeze from the NE. It’s surfable, but very ordinary. By afternoon, the wind swings onshore and it’s poor.
Friday the 10th gives us a similar setup: 3ft from the WNW again, but the energy is still weak (150). The morning is clean with a moderate offshore breeze from the E, so that’s your best bet for a few little ones. The afternoon is a write-off with strong cross-shore winds.
Saturday the 11th morning – same story, 2.3ft, clean but tiny. That’s about it for the first week. The swell drops even further from Sunday the 12th onward, with wave heights barely above 2ft for days. The winds are messy, mostly cross-onshore or onshore, and the energy readings are all in the double digits, meaning weak at best. It’s a flat spell.
There’s a slight uptick around Monday the 20th of July, with swell pushing 3ft to 4ft from the NNW, but it’s coming in with short, weak period of 6 seconds and heavy onshore winds up to 28 mph. The combined energy bumps up to 124, but it’s a messy, blown-out, and choppy mess. Not worth paddling out for.
The rest of the month into the 24th stays small, with poor conditions and no real window of clean, decent surf. If you’re a kitesurfer, the winds on the 20th through the 22nd might get you excited, but for a surfer, it’s a long, lean stretch.
Hang in there. Forecasts can change, but right now, the best advice is to bang the board under the house and wait.
