The Lowdown
G’day, Rusty here. Look, I’ll be straight with you – the next week or so is a bit of a write-off for Rossbeigh Strand. We’ve got a long stretch of tiny, weak waves with poor conditions, and the water is a staggering 5.6°F warmer than usual for this time of year, which is very unusual and just feels… wrong. You’ll be waiting a while for anything worth paddling out for.
The first real glimmer of hope comes on Thursday, July 24th, with a pulse of 4.3ft from the WNW, but the wind is cross-onshore, and the whole setup is only rated as marginal. Not exactly firing.
The main event, and the true standout of this forecast, is much further out. We’re looking at Wednesday, July 29th, early morning. That’s the one. Glassy conditions, a solid 8.2ft swell out of the W with a 10-second period, and the combined energy is a massive 1471 – that’s serious power. The winds are glass, which means clean, inviting lines. It’s a big one, though – over 8.2ft, so this is strictly for experienced surfers. The afternoon of that same day pushes into 11.5ft with a 12-second period, but the wind goes cross-onshore. The morning is the window.
After that, Thursday, July 30th, is messy with onshore wind and rain, and Friday, July 31st, is blown out and poor. So, mark your calendar for the morning of the 29th. That’s the only session that really matters.
Short Range ForecastMostly dry. Warm (max 24°C on Thu morning, min 12°C on Fri night). Wind will be generally light. | Days 4-6 Weather SummaryMostly dry. Warm (max 20°C on Sun afternoon, min 13°C on Sun night). Wind will be generally light. | ||||||||||||||||||||
