Gather round, me hearties, ol' Rusty here. Let's have a squiz at what's on offer for the next couple of weeks at this one spot. It's a bit of a lean run, to be honest. The first week or so is looking pretty grim, but there might be a couple of days in the second week that'll get you out of bed.
Alright, so straight up, the first proper swell to speak of doesn't show up 'til Tuesday, July 14th. Before that, we're looking at a lot of days with poor surf and messy cross-onshore winds. From Sunday July 5th through to Monday July 13th, it's basically a write-off. Small, choppy, and uninviting. A real bummer.
The one ray of hope is Crab Island, an advanced reef break that's fairly consistent and exposed to the west. The water temp is sitting at 61°, which is about a touch warmer than normal for this time of year. For the second week, we finally get a bit of a window.
On Tuesday, July 14th, the morning session looks like the pick of the whole forecast. We get a clean 3 ft swell from the west with a 10-second period, and the wind is a light north-easterly, giving us some clean, cross-offshore conditions. The combined energy is a moderate 135. It's not going to be huge, but it'll be surfable, and clean. It's really the only standout.
Wednesday, July 15th, the morning also offers some hope, with a 2 ft west swell and a glassy, light east-north-easterly offshore wind. The energy is weaker at 88, but with that offshore flow, it's still worth a look for a quiet, grovelly session.
After that, it fades out again. Thursday July 16th has a tiny, glassy 2 ft, which is more of a paddle than a surf. The rest of the run into the 20th is small and wind-affected, so don't hold your breath.
So, to wrap it up, if you can get out on the morning of Tuesday July 14th or Wednesday July 15th, you might snag a few clean ones. The rest of the period is a dud. It's a blank run that's fairly normal for this area when the conditions line up wrong. Stick with it, the forecasts can always change.
Rusty.
