Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let's break down what's coming our way in this forecast window.
We've got a stretch of solid, long-period SW swell heading into a spot that handles the heavy stuff. The water temperature is sitting at 64°F right now, which is a touch cooler than the usual for this time of year, so don't forget the booties if you're out for a long paddle.
The first real standout is Monday, July 6th, first light. Boneyards is looking at a clean 6 ft SW groundswell with a nice 12-second period. The wave energy is pumping at 1059, but the real story is the wind - glassy, dead calm from the NW. That means flawless, clean conditions for a proper session. It's a solid size for an advanced break, so it'll be a fun one for the crew who know what they're doing.
The big one to circle on the calendar is Friday, July 10th. The early morning glass-off is the key. We've got a jump up to 12 ft of SSW swell, holding that meaty 13-second period. The combined energy rockets up to 4633, which is a serious number. With glassy conditions from the WNW, this is going to be a freight train at Boneyards. This is expert territory only at this size. The swell direction matches the break's sweet spot perfectly, so expect long, lined-up walls. With this much size and that long period, the reef will handle it much better than a beach break. This is the day you don't want to miss.
The quality holds for the next few days, but the wind gets a bit trickier. By the 11th and 12th, we get some cross and onshore winds mixing it up. There is a weird window on the morning of the 12th: an 8 ft swell from the ESE with a very short 8-second period and dead calm glass. That short period means it'll be mushy, but it's a clean option on a day that's otherwise blown out.
Then the sizes drop way off for a few days. We're looking at smaller, weaker pulses through the middle of the week. The 15th and 16th are tiny, a real lull in the action. Keep your eye on the 17th, though. Friday morning the 17th sees a solid return of 6 ft SW swell at a long 13 seconds. The energy bounces back to 1265, and with clean cross-off wind, it's a strong return to form.
The next big event is on the 19th. Sunday afternoon shows a sudden jump back to 10 ft SW swell from a 12-second period, pumping energy at 2539. The wind is a light cross-on from the east, so it won't be perfect, but the raw power is there. That one is a long way out, so treat it as promising but not a certainty. And the 21st is looking like another big one on the books with 10 ft SW swell, carrying the energy into the start of the third week.
So, to wrap it up: Friday the 10th is your absolute go-day for a classic, glassy, big-wave session at an advanced reef. Monday the 6th morning and the 17th morning are strong runners-up for cleaner conditions. The middle of the run is a mixed bag, but with that much energy on the charts, it's worth keeping a close watch.
Rusty.
