The Lowdown
Alright, let's get into it for Boneyards. This is a proper reef break, for experts only. Water temp is pretty much what you'd expect for this time of year.
Wednesday the 15th kicks off small, with a combined energy of 403. It's a start, but nothing to get excited about.
Thursday the 16th morning is the real kick-off. We've got a solid 10ft SW groundswell with a 14-second period, and the wind is glassy offshore. The energy is a strong 3236. This is excellent for experienced surfers. The reef will be handling that long-period energy, giving you proper walls. Expect lulls, but the sets will be worth the wait.
Friday the 17th holds strong with another 10ft SW swell in the morning, still clean. Energy is high at 2381. The afternoon gets messy with onshore wind, so get on it early.
Saturday the 18th is a breather. The swell drops, but Saturday afternoon turns glassy. It's small, only 3ft, but for a quiet session on a log, that could be a fun little window.
Sunday the 19th is a write-off. There's a 12ft SW swell in the afternoon, but it's getting hammered by 30 km/h winds. That's a kite-surfing mess.
Monday the 20th afternoon is a real standout. The swell is a solid 8ft from the SW, with a 12-second period and glassy conditions. The energy is 1780, and the wind is dead calm. This is a gem. Clean, powerful.
Now the big stuff. Tuesday the 21st of July morning shows a 12ft SSW groundswell with a 16-second period, light offshore wind, and a combined energy of 6478. This is exceptional for experts. The afternoon pushes to 13ft, but the wind goes cross-shore.
Wednesday the 22nd keeps the pace with 12ft SW swell and clean conditions. The following days – Thursday the 23rd, Friday the 24th, and Saturday the 25th – all have solid 10ft to 15ft SW swells. The standout is Saturday the 25th morning: 12ft from the SW, 15-second period, light offshore, and an energy reading of 5703. That's exceptional.
Looking further out, Monday the 28th of July morning has a clean 8ft from the SE with offshore wind. But the long-range bomb is Wednesday the 30th of July. Both morning and afternoon show a 13ft SW groundswell, 15-second period, and energy readings of 7089 and 7682. This is massive, for experts only.
The best window is from Thursday the 16th through to the end of the month. The standout days are Monday the 20th afternoon for the glassy perfection, and Tuesday the 21st morning for the sheer power. Don't miss Saturday the 25th morning either.
Rusty.
