The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here with the full rundown for Albatross. We’ve got a solid 16 days ahead, but it’s a bit of a slow burner. The first few days are small and average, but the real magic kicks off next week and holds on for a good run. There’s a standout window that’s got me pretty excited, so let’s break it down.
We start off on Tuesday, July 14th. The morning’s got a small 5.2ft from the ESE with a short 9-second period, but the cross-off wind from the W is keeping it clean. The combined energy is moderate (494). The afternoon drops right off—2ft from the SSW, 10 seconds, and the energy is weak (88). Not much to write home about.
Wednesday, July 15th, is still small. Morning sees 4.3ft from the SW with a 6-second period—very short period, so it’s gonna be pretty weak. The afternoon builds a bit to 5.2ft from the SW with an 8-second period, and the offshore wind from the WSW makes it clean. The energy jumps to moderate (692). It’s rideable, but nothing to get excited about.
Thursday, July 16th, things start to get big, but it’s messy. The morning has 9.8ft from the SW with a nice 14-second period, but it’s cross-on from the NNE. The energy is strong (3140). That’s a lot of water, but the wind is making it tricky. The afternoon is similar—8.2ft from the SW, 13 seconds, cross-on from the ESE. Energy is still strong (2376). This is a lot of swell, but it’s not clean.
Friday, July 17th, is where it starts to turn. Morning is 7.9ft from the SW with a 12-second period and cross-off wind from the WSW. The energy is strong (1665) and it’s clean. But the afternoon is the real winner: 9.8ft from the SW, 12-second period, and offshore wind from the SSW. This is excellent surf for experienced surfers. The energy is strong (2281). This is the first standout session.
Saturday, July 18th, is a bit of a mixed bag. The morning has 6.2ft from the S with a 12-second period, but it’s onshore from the NE. The energy is strong (1280), but it’s gonna be bumpy. The afternoon, though, is glassy. The same 6.2ft from the S, 12 seconds, and it’s dead calm. That’s a clean, fun session.
Sunday, July 19th, gets a bit blown out. The morning is 5.2ft from the S with an 11-second period, cross-off from a fresh 30 km/h WSW wind. The energy is moderate (1159), but it’s gonna be a battle. The afternoon is 8.2ft from the WSW
Short Range ForecastMostly dry. Very mild (max 19°C on Tue afternoon, min 14°C on Tue night). Wind will be generally light. | Days 5-7 Weather SummaryMostly dry. Warm (max 21°C on Sat afternoon, min 14°C on Sat morning). Winds increasing (calm on Sat afternoon, strong winds from the WSW by Sun afternoon). | ||||||||||||||||||||
