Table - best surf conditions forecast for Albatross over the next 16 days.

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what's on the table for Albatross over the next couple of weeks.

We've got a tasty little run coming up, but you'll have to be patient because there's some lumpy, messy stuff to get through first. The water is hanging in at around 64°, which is a good couple of degrees colder than normal for this time of year – so yeah, it's a bit nippy out there, so maybe double up on the rubber if you're heading out early.

Tuesday afternoon (7 July) kicks things off with a clean 7ft south-west swell, running at a solid 12 seconds. Winds are light offshore from the south-west too, so that beach and reef set-up is going to be looking pretty tidy. It's not huge energy, but it's a clean start. The combined energy is sitting at 1430, which puts us in that moderate, punchy range.

Wednesday (8 July) is a bit of a write-off. The swell bumps up to 8ft, but the wind swings to a cross-off, and then builds into a fresh 30 km/h cross-off by the afternoon. It's messy. By Thursday morning (9 July) , the real deal shows up. We're looking at a 12ft SW groundswell with a 14-second period. That's serious power – combined energy is 4259, which is proper strong. The wind is offshore, so it's going to be big, clean, and raw. This is not for beginners. It's pushing 12ft, so bring your big-wave board and your biggest cajones. The afternoon eases back to 10ft and shifts a touch more south-southwest, but still clean. This is the standout of the whole run: Thursday 9 July, morning session. Don't miss it.

Friday (10 July) is still pumping, with 12ft SSW swell in the morning and light winds. Another excellent day for experienced surfers, with solid energy (4537). The afternoon stays clean too.

Saturday (11 July) sees the swell drop to 8ft, but the wind turns cross-onshore. It's still surfable for the keen, but the quality drops. From Sunday (12 July) through Tuesday morning (14 July) it goes quiet, with smaller, choppy, or glassy but weak conditions. Tuesday morning (14 July) offers a brief window of glassy, 3ft surf, but it's a bit gutless.

Wednesday (15 July) through to Sunday (19 July) is a mixed bag of poor surf, strong winds, and rain. Not worth paddling out for unless you're desperate. Then, Sunday afternoon (19 July) brings back a 10ft SW swell, but the wind is a 20 km/h cross-onshore, making it a choppy mess. That big energy (3183) is poorly directed.

Monday (20 July) and Tuesday (21 July) are marginal at best, with cross-on winds and smaller swell. The forecast wraps up on Wednesday morning (22 July) with a 7ft SW swell, but the wind is cross-on again. However, keep an eye on Wednesday afternoon (22 July) – the wind goes glassy, the swell is 7ft at 10 seconds, and the combined energy is back up to 1084. It's looking very clean in the water, so that afternoon could be a hidden gem to end the run.

Overall, Thursday 9 July is the big, powerful standout. After that, the last week is pretty ordinary. Ride the swell when it's here.

Rusty.
