Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tubes over the next 16 days.
Alright, you landlubbers and wave riders, Rusty here with the lowdown on Tubes. It's a reef and point setup that breaks consistently and is tucked away from a lot of the chop, so when it's good, it's real good.
Right now, the water is running at about 64°, which is a tick colder than usual for this time of year. Nothing you can't handle with a good spring suit, but it's worth noting.
We've got a solid push of swell coming through on Friday the 10th. Friday morning is going to be a treat for the experienced crowd. We're looking at a 12ft SSW swell with a 13-second period, pushing some serious energy into the cove. The wind is a cross-off from the West at 9 mph, keeping things tidy. This is the one to be on: proper groundswell, good size, clean lines. Friday afternoon is nearly as good, with a light cross-off from the SSW at 6 mph keeping the quality high.
Saturday the 11th still has some size at about 10ft, but the wind swings cross-on from the East, which will put a bit of a ruffle on the surface. It's still surfable, but not as pristine as Friday.
Things drop off on Sunday the 12th down to about 6ft with onshore winds and rain. A good day to do something else.
Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th are small. Monday morning is glassy with 4ft waves, and Monday afternoon is clean with a 4ft SSW swell. Tuesday morning is tiny at 2ft, but glassy again. Good for a longboard or a learner, but nothing to write home about.
Then we hit a quiet spell. Wednesday the 15th is nearly flat. The next real action arrives on Thursday the 16th. A new, long-period SW groundswell shows up, hitting 10ft. The morning is a bit onshore, but the afternoon turns on with a clean offshore wind from the SW at 9 mph and a solid 8ft. This is the window to aim for in the second week: strong energy, clean, offshores, and that long period from the SW.
Friday the 17th stays in the 8ft range, but the wind is cranking at 19 mph from the WSW. It's offshore, so it'll be glassy, but that's a stiff breeze for a point break. That's for the hard chargers only.
The 18th of July sees a drop in size, and the wind goes cross-on in the afternoon, so the morning is your better bet for a cleaner 5ft from the South.
Things go quiet again until Monday the 20th, when we see a huge spike. Monday morning is pumping a 12ft SW swell with glassy conditions and an 11-second period. The energy is massive. This is another absolute standout for experienced surfers only—it's going to be big and powerful.
The true beast arrives on the 23rd. Thursday morning is a 16ft SW swell! That is enormous. The wind is a clean cross-off, so it'll be a sight to behold. The afternoon is 15ft with a moderate offshore from the WSW. This is strictly for the experts. The energy levels are off the charts. This is a truly monumental swell.
The run continues into the 24th and 25th with solid 10ft+ swells, mostly with clean winds. The morning of the 25th looks like another glassy, excellent session for the experienced, with a 10ft WSW swell.
So, for the two big standouts: Friday morning the 10th for that first big, clean, SSW groundswell, and Monday morning the 20th for the next big glassy pulse. For the sharks and the legends, the 23rd is a date to mark for pure, raw power—but only if you've got the cojones.
Rusty.
