Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tubes over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, looking at what’s on the cards for the next couple of weeks. Let’s get into it.
Straight up, we’ve got a slow start. The first few days are a bit of a write-off. Sunday the 12th kicks off with some waist-chest high swell at Tubes, but that ENE wind is straight onshore, making it a messy, choppy mess. Not worth paddling out for. Monday the 13th is a bit smaller, but that glassy morning is a beauty – it’s just that the swell’s too weak to really get excited about, with only 4ft of SSW swell and pretty low energy. We’re waiting for the real action.
The first real standout hits us on Tuesday the 14th. It’s a morning glass-off, with the wind dropping to zero. The swell is a solid 6ft, coming from the ESE, with a period of 9 seconds. The energy is moderate, and the conditions are looking clean. It’s not huge, but it’s the best quality we’ve seen so far, making for a super fun session.
Now, hold onto your board. From Thursday the 16th afternoon through Friday the 17th, we’re looking at the big one. Thursday afternoon sees a 8ft SSW swell, with a 14-second period, and the wind goes offshore. That’s a lot of power and the setup is clean. Friday the 17th is the absolute peak. We’re talking 13ft of solid SSW groundswell, with a 12-second period. The energy is extreme, and both the morning and afternoon have offshore winds. This is a serious, expert-only swell. It’s going to be massive, powerful, and definitely not for the faint of heart. If you’re an experienced surfer, that Friday morning is your window.
The weekend of the 18th and 19th gets blown out by a strong ENE wind, so we’ll sit that out. The following week has some pulse, but it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Tuesday the 22nd builds again, with a 8ft SSW swell and a 14-second period, but the wind is cross-off. Then Wednesday the 22nd afternoon is a real surprise: an 12ft WSW swell with a 9-second period, but the wind goes completely glassy. That’s a rare combination, but the period is short, so it’ll be a bit soft and lumpy despite the size. The end of the week, from Thursday the 23rd to Saturday the 25th, is all about size. We’re seeing 10ft to 12ft SSW swells, with periods up to 17 seconds, but the wind is mostly cross-on or cross-off, so the quality is going to be marginal. The energy is through the roof, but you’ll be fighting the wind. Saturday the 25th morning looks the best of that bunch, with a clean, cross-off wind and an 12ft swell.
The very end of the 16-day window, around Sunday the 26th and Monday the 27th, drops off a bit in size but still has some solid 7ft+ swell with a very long period. The wind is onshore or cross-off, so it’s not the best quality.
So, to wrap it up: the best of the best is undeniably Friday the 17th. That 13ft with offshore winds is a world-class, big-wave day at Tubes for experts only. The other standout is Tuesday the 14th morning – a much smaller, glassy, and clean session that will be perfect for everyone else.
Rusty, signing off.
