Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, surfers, Rusty here. Let’s look at what’s headed our way. There’s a solid run of surf coming, but we gotta pick our moments carefully because the wind is going to be a real player.
The first wave of the window is a building SW groundswell. It kicks off Monday the 6th of July, and the early call is a beauty. We’re looking at clean 6 ft surf from the SW with a 12-second period and glassy conditions. The water is sitting at 64°, which is a bit colder than what we’re used to for this time of year, so maybe grab a thicker spring suit. The wave energy is already strong at 1059, and it’s just going to build from there. Monday morning is the standout of the first week, no doubt.
The swell keeps pumping through Tuesday and Wednesday, hitting 7 ft then 8 ft, but the wind gets tricky. The afternoons get messy with cross-onshore breezes, so stick to the mornings. By Thursday the 9th, the swell is up to 10 ft from the SW with a long 14-second period, but it’s a bit onshore and that’s big enough to be for experienced surfers only. The energy is very strong at 3854, but the conditions are marginal.
Now, Friday the 10th of July is a serious highlight. We’ve got an 12 ft SSW groundswell with a 13-second period, and the morning is glassy. That’s a heavy, powerful wave – strictly for the experts. The energy is massive at 4633. This is textbook Tubes (reef and point) at its best, but it’s not a day for beginners. It’s going to be a long period groundswell, so those sets will be fat and have plenty of push, but at a point break like this, it should line up nicely.
We hit a bit of a lull over the weekend. Saturday and Sunday are blown out with onshore winds and rain, so don’t bother. The swell drops, and the energy fades.
The second week is a bit more of a mixed bag. There’s a reset on the 12th of July with a glassy Sunday morning, but the swell is a short period 8 ft from the ESE, which is only 8 seconds. That’s windswell, and it won’t have the same punch. The energy is still moderate at 1500.
Monday the 13th looks clean again with 6 ft SSW swell and offshore winds, so that’s a solid option. The energy is lower at 761, but it’ll be fun. After that, it’s a bit of a waiting game. There’s a small window on the 16th and 17th with another SW swell arriving, but the wind, especially on the Friday afternoon, gets brutal. The 19th of July brings a big 10 ft SW swell back, but the wind is onshore, so it’s not clean.
The very last day, Tuesday the 21st of July, shows promise with an 8 ft SW swell and a sneaky light NE wind, but it’s listed as onshore, so it’s a gamble. The energy is strong at 2316, but the conditions are unknown.
In short, your best bet is hitting it hard on Monday morning the 6th for the cleanest start, or if you’re a charger, that glassy Friday morning the 10th for the biggest, cleanest waves of the window. The rest of the time, you’ll need to be picky about the morning windows.
Rusty.
