Table - best surf conditions forecast for Whispering Waves over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here with a look at what Whispering Waves has in store for us over the next couple of weeks. Let’s get into it.
Right now, we’re looking at a bit of a slow start. The first few days are pretty average with lumpy onshore wind and messy swell. The real action starts to build towards the end of the week and into the weekend, with a proper southwest groundswell showing its face. The standout window is shaping up to be around July 22nd through the 24th, particularly for the experienced crew.
The pick of the fortnight is without a doubt the morning of July 23rd at Whispering Waves. We’ve got a solid 10ft SSW swell with a period of 14 seconds, generating some serious grunt – the combined energy is a hefty 3385. That’s proper, powerful groundswell. The wind is a light, clean offshore from the SW, so it’s going to be glassy and lined up. This is a spot that handles a south swell well, and with the long period, it’s going to hold up nicely as a point break. Just be aware, that size is firmly in the ‘experts only’ territory – it’s going to be pumping and powerful.
Before that, the morning of 22nd July is also worth a mention. You’ll see a clean 6ft SSW swell with light offshore wind from the SSW. The combined energy is 1706, so there’s plenty of push. It’s a step down in size from the 23rd, making it a bit more manageable for strong intermediates, but still an excellent day.
There’s some heavy stuff coming at the very end of the forecast. We’re looking at the morning of July 27th with a massive 16ft SW swell pumping in, and the combined energy is off the charts at 14134. That’s a serious, serious swell. However, the wind is going to be onshore from the NE, which means it’s going to be a real battle. For the absolute top-tier big wave chargers only, it might be on, but for everyone else, the conditions will likely be too rough to enjoy.
As for the water temp, it’s sitting around average for this time of year, nothing unusual to note there.
Alright, that’s the long-range story. The near-term is a bit of a wait, but that big SSW pulse around the 23rd is the one to circle on the calendar. I’ll be watching it closely.
Rusty.
