Right, grab a coffee mate, let's see what's on the menu for the next couple of weeks. The only real game in town is Whispering Waves, a point break that's exposed to the south-west. It's an inconsistent setup, but when it gets a bit of swell and the wind plays ball, it can be a classic.
We're looking at a pretty patchy outlook overall. There are some tidy days early on, but you'll need to pick your moments. Water temp's about average for this time of year, nothing wild there.
Alright, let's start with this week. Tuesday the 7th kicks off pretty small and clean. You're looking at a 2 ft to 2 ft south-west groundswell with a 14-second period. The combined energy is moderate (203 to 249), but the wind is offshore and clean. It’s small, but it'll be silky.
Wednesday the 8th sees a slight bump. Morning brings a 3 ft SSW swell (354 combined energy), with a light offshore breeze. It'll be super clean. The afternoon gets a bit more size at 3 ft but the wind picks up, making it a bit more marginal.
Now, here’s the standout of the whole outlook. Thursday the 10th into Friday the 11th. Thursday morning sees a jump to a solid 7 ft SSW swell (1294 combined energy), with a clean offshore breeze. That's proper. But the real peak is Friday the 10th morning: a 10 ft SSW swell with a very long 15-second period. The combined energy is strong (3861). This is big, powerful stuff. It's pushing over 8 ft, so this is strictly for experienced surfers only. With that long period, it'll be a proper groundswell, breaking with real purpose at this point break. The morning glass-off is a beauty.
The winds hold for most of the morning sessions, but watch for that Saturday afternoon. The 11th of July sees a fresh, lumpy cross-shore wind and rain, which will chop things up. You'll want to be out of the water by lunch.
Sunday the 12th is a wild card. Morning brings a 4 ft SSW swell with glassy conditions and a light WNW breeze. That's about as good as it gets for a small, clean wave. The energy is moderate (693). It’s a great session if you have a log.
The second week gets a bit more mixed. Monday the 13th has some 7 ft waves, but the period drops to 9 seconds and it's a short-period windswell from the east. Not the same quality. Tuesday the 14th morning is glassy again with a 6 ft SW swell, but the period is short at 7 seconds. Combined energy is 716, but the quality won't be there.
From the 16th onward, it gets pretty poor for a stretch with only small, messy waves and onshore wind. There's a bit of a gap until the 19th of July where onshore winds and small swell just don't give you much reason to paddle out. On the 19th we see a pulse of 5 ft SSW swell with a long 14-second period (1205 combined energy), but the wind is onshore, so it will be bumpy.
Bottom line: make your move on Friday the 10th of July morning for the biggest, cleanest, most powerful swell of this run. The 12th of July morning is your go-to for a small, glassy session. After that, pick the clean windows in the mornings, because the afternoons are a write-off.
