Alright mates, Rusty here with a look at what's coming our way at Whispering Waves. This point break is an exposed spot that loves a south swell. It's an inconsistent wave, so when it fires, you've gotta be on it. The water's sitting about average for this time of year, nothing wild to report there. We've got a bit of a quiet start before things get rolling.
Right now, the surf is pretty ordinary. Sunday the 5th has some 5ft to 5ft swell coming from the SE, but the wind is on it and conditions are poor. Not worth paddling out.
Monday the 6th is where we see a shift. Morning brings clean, glassy conditions with a 3ft SE swell (204 combined energy). It's small but clean, a decent little session if you're on a longboard. The afternoon holds the same glass, but drops off a touch more.
Tuesday the 7th starts off with a tiny 2ft SW swell and cross-wind – not great. But keep an eye on Tuesday afternoon. The wind swings offshore with a 2ft SW swell, period pushing 14 seconds (249 energy). That's a long period groundswell, and this point will handle it well. It'll be small but clean and lined up for the crew on the right boards.
Wednesday the 8th is a mixed bag. Morning is offshore but only 3ft (327 energy), and the wind is moderate. The afternoon sees the swell jump to 7ft, but the period drops to a short 6 seconds, meaning it'll be bumpy and chaotic. The offshore wind will keep the face cleanish, but the waves won't have much shape.
The standout is Thursday the 9th. Get ready. We've got a massive pulse of swell arriving. Thursday morning delivers an 12ft SSW groundswell with a 12-second period and a whopping 5659 combined energy. The wind is a moderate offshore from the SW. This is exceptional for experienced surfers – barrels will be on offer. The afternoon holds steady at 10ft (4164 energy). This is the day. The crowd will likely be on it, but that's the price for a wave this good.
Friday the 10th continues with excellent, powerful conditions. An 8ft SSW groundswell with a 13-second period and strong offshore wind. The energy is still huge (2130 and 2098). It'll still be pumping, and it's still best for experienced surfers given the size and power. A solid option if the crowds were too thick on Thursday.
The second week gets trickier. Saturday the 11th is a write-off with strong cross-onshore winds making a mess of the 6ft swell. Sunday the 12th sees clean-ish conditions but only marginal 5ft to 6ft S swell.
The week of the 13th through the 16th offers some decent but not epic waves. Expect 4ft to 7ft swells from various directions, mostly clean with offshore or cross-off winds. The standout in that stretch is Thursday the 16th afternoon: a 7ft E swell with a moderate offshore SW wind, giving clean, well-shaped waves (974 combined energy).
From the 17th onwards, the energy drops and the wind gets stronger, bringing some messy but potentially powerful waves. The 18th holds 10ft SSW swell but with fresh offshore winds – it'll be big and clean again, but the guidance flags it as marginal, so keep an eye on it. The run finally fades out by Monday the 20th with small, poor surf.
So, if you want the best of it, mark Thursday the 9th as the big one – it's going to be special. Friday the 10th is a close second.
Rusty.
