Table - best surf conditions forecast for Whispering Waves over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here with the lowdown on Whispering Waves. This is a point break, open to the south swell, and it's an inconsistent spot – when it fires, it's a party, but it doesn't happen every day. This 16-day forecast has a serious split personality.
We have some solid action early on, then a nasty stretch of onshore junk that starts midday Saturday the 12th and just keeps going for over a week. You'll need to time it right.
The show starts Wednesday morning, July 8th. Surf is clean with a light offshore breeze and a 0.9m swell out of the SSW with a 14-second period. Water temp is about average for the season, so a 3/2mm wetsuit is fine. The wave energy is sitting at a modest 350, so it's not a powerhouse, but it's rideable.
The big news is Thursday morning, July 9th. A solid 3.5m SSW groundswell with a 13-second period is rolling in. That's serious size. The wind is a clean moderate offshore, but at over 11 feet, this is strictly for experts. The combined energy is a massive 5,547 – that's a lot of juice. If you're not comfortable in heavy water, this one's not for you.
Friday morning, July 10th, is another big one for the experienced crew. The swell is still a heavy 3.0m from the SSW, but the period stretches to 15 seconds – that's a very long period groundswell. On a point, this sets up beautifully. The energy is huge at 3,551, and the wind is a gentle offshore. This is the session to circle for the expert crew.
Saturday morning, July 11th, offers a real treat for the rest of us. The swell drops to a more manageable 2.1m from the south, still a good 13-second period, and the wind is glassy – dead flat calm. The combined energy is a healthy 1,468. This is the sneaky good session for the intermediate surfer wanting clean, fun waves without getting destroyed.
Then it all falls apart. Saturday afternoon the wind turns against us and the quality nosedives. From Sunday morning, July 12th, all the way through to Tuesday, July 22nd, it's onshore winds from the northeast with tiny, weak swell. It's a complete write-off for paddle surfing. The very last morning, Wednesday, July 23rd, shows a tiny 0.6m groundswell from the SW with a 16-second period and a fresh offshore wind. It'll be clean, but it's barely a ripple.
So here's the call: get on it Wednesday morning for some small clean ones. If you've got the guts, Thursday and Friday are the standout heavy days for the experts. Saturday morning is the golden window for the intermediates. Don't bother with anything after that.
Rusty.
