Table - best surf conditions forecast for Koeel Bay over the next 16 days.
Yo, Rusty here. Let's look at what's shaking at Koeel Bay. We've got a decent run of clean, solid swell on the way, but it's not for the faint of heart. The water's sitting at 60°, which is bang on average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
The story starts Thursday morning, July 9th, with a solid 7ft SSW groundswell rolling in at a 14-second period. That's a lot of power, with combined energy hitting 1605 (moderate to strong). The wind is a gentle offshore from the SE, keeping it clean. This is proper reef-break territory—long period, good direction, and offshore wind. It's a standout for experienced surfers. The afternoon gets a bit windier, but still clean.
Friday, July 10th, keeps the goodness going. Same 7ft, 13-second SSW swell, but with a moderate offshore breeze. The wave energy is still high at 1483 (moderate to strong). Another morning of excellent surf for the crew that can handle it.
Saturday, July 11th, the swell drops a touch to 5-6ft, still a solid 12-second period from the SSW. Offshore winds hold. The energy drops to 893-911 (moderate), but it's still very good, clean surf. A bit more manageable, but still substantial.
Sunday, July 12th, sees the swell ease to 4-5ft from the S, with a period of 10-11 seconds. The wind goes light and variable, keeping it clean. Energy is 690-826 (moderate). It's still a good session, but the power is lower.
Monday, July 13th, things get small. 2-2ft, 9-10 second period, glassy conditions in the morning. The energy is down to 91-173 (weak). It's surfable, but ordinary.
Tuesday, July 14th, the wind shifts onshore and the swell drops further. 2-2ft, 9 seconds. Poor conditions. Not worth the paddle.
Wednesday, July 15th, stays poor. Light rain, onshore wind, small messy swell. Best to sit this one out.
Now, Thursday, July 16th, we get a big pulse. 8ft SSW groundswell, 14 seconds, with a strong offshore wind from the SE. The energy jumps to 1970 (strong). This is a big, powerful swell. The forecast flags it as marginal due to tide or other factors, but with that wind and size, it's a serious option for the experienced.
Friday, July 17th, still solid. 6ft SSW, 12 seconds, offshore wind. Good energy (847, moderate). Very good surf.
The following week, from July 18th to 24th, the pattern is a mix of smaller, cleaner days and a couple of bigger pulses. Saturday the 18th has a 6ft swell in the afternoon, but it's a short 7-second period, making it a bit jumbled. The real standout for the second week is Friday, July 24th. We see a 7ft SW groundswell at a long 15-second period, with a moderate offshore wind. The energy is a massive 2190 (strong). This is another one for the experts only—big, powerful, clean lines. It's a long way out, so keep an eye on it.
Overall, the best of the best is this Thursday morning, July 9th, and then that Friday, July 24th looks like a ripper if it holds. Koeel Bay is a reef, so it handles these long-period swells well. It can get crowded (sometimes), so get on it early. The long period means the sets will be spaced out, but when they come, they've got some serious push.
Stay safe out there.
