The Lowdown

Alright, mates, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at the surf over the next couple of weeks for The Point.

The opening stretch is a bit of a mixed bag, but we’ve got some solid windows of quality if you play it smart. Water temps are sitting at 56°F, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year, so you’ll want that extra rubber.

Thursday afternoon kicks things off, but the swell’s a bit jumbly and the tide looks questionable—nothing to get too excited about. You're better off waiting for Friday morning. The swell drops a touch to 5ft from the SW, but the wind is light and clean, and the energy reading of 549 is moderate. It’ll be worth the paddle.

Saturday morning stays clean with a smaller 4ft SW swell, but the afternoon gets chopped up by a cross-shore breeze. The real standout comes Sunday morning. We’ve got a 6ft WSW swell with a 13-second period and strong energy behind it (1011). With light, clean conditions, it's going to be firing and a proper challenge for the experienced crew. The afternoon holds size but the breeze picks up.

Monday stays rideable but clean, with the morning better than the afternoon. Then Tuesday is the other gem. Glassy conditions in the morning with a 5ft SW swell and a long 14-second period—that's some proper groundswell energy (1011). It’s a point and reef setup, so the long period will wrap in nicely. Afternoon remains excellent with 5ft and even more energy (1014).

Wednesday goes a bit onshore, so we’ll give that a miss. Thursday afternoon looks promising again with light offshore wind and a clean 3ft swell. We then hit a bit of a lull, and from Friday afternoon through the weekend, the wind swings around fresh and strong, making things marginal despite the swell.

The real big boy shows up way out there. On September 2nd, the models are pointing to a massive 10ft SW groundswell, but it’s just too big for this break—that's expert-only territory and even then, it’s likely out of control. The energy readings are enormous (3090).

Until then, the standout days are clearly Sunday morning and Tuesday. Get on it while it’s clean and powerful. After the big one, the swell backs down quickly through the 4th, but conditions stay mixed.

Keep an eye on the long-range promise, but for now, the next few days are the ones to chase.

Rusty.
