Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, surfers, Rusty here. Let me break down what we've got coming for The Point at Elands Bay. This isn't a full-on swell magnet, but there are some proper windows of clean surf, especially early and late in the run.
We're looking at a solid start. For the 6th of July, Monday morning, the water is sitting at 57°F with a 3°F negative temperature anomaly. That's a bit colder than we're used to for this time of year, so don't forget the extra rubber.
The first real standout hits Monday morning (6th July) at The Point. We've got a 6ft groundswell rolling in from the WSW with a period of 11 seconds, and the wind is glassy from the SSE. The combined energy is moderate at 731, and the conditions are about as good as it gets—clean, glassy, perfect for an intermediate crowd. Expect very good surf.
Moving into Tuesday morning (7th July), the swell drops a touch to 4ft but the period stretches to 12 seconds. Offshore winds from the SSE keep it clean. Energy is still moderate (750). Another very good session. Afternoon gets a bit bumpier with a cross-off breeze, so morning is the call.
Wednesday (8th July) sees the swell pulse up again—5 to 5ft, 13-second periods, and energy jumps into the strong range (1191). The winds are cross-off and clean, but the guidance flags marginal tide conditions. This is still good surf, but you'll want to pick your tide window.
The standout of the entire run looks like Thursday morning (9th July). Swell at 5ft from the SW, 14-second period, and clean cross-off wind. Energy is strong at 1079, and the forecast says excellent conditions for experienced surfers. The Point loves a long-period SW swell—waves will wrap in nicely with good shape. This is the one to circle.
From Friday (10th July) through to early the following week, things go quiet. We have onshore winds and dropping swell, with a few glassy moments on Saturday afternoon (11th July) offering tiny 3ft waves for a log, but nothing to get excited about. There's a dry spell of several days with no real recommendations until Thursday 16th July.
On Thursday 16th July, a new pulse arrives: 4 to 4ft from the WSW, 11 seconds, clean cross-off winds. Energy moderate (443). Not huge, but clean and surfable.
Then, bam—Friday 17th July morning looks like another high point. Swell builds to 5ft from the WSW with a 12-second period, light cross-off wind, and energy at 734. Expect very good surf conditions again. Afternoon gets a bit cross-choppy, so make the early call.
Saturday 18th July holds at 4-4ft but the winds pick up to a moderate breeze, keeping it clean but less punch. Energy still moderate (489). Worth a paddle but not standout.
The final real highlight lands on Sunday 19th July morning: 6ft from the WSW, 13-second period, clean cross-off wind, energy strong at 989. That's a proper wall of swell for The Point. Set waves will have some push and the period (13 seconds) means long, clean lines—though at this size, it's more for experienced surfers.
After that, Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st July taper off with onshore winds and smaller surf, though Tuesday morning has glassy 3ft conditions.
Overall, if you're picking one session, go for Thursday 9th July morning for the best combo of size, period, and wind. Or, if you're looking at the long-range, Sunday 19th July morning is promising but less certain. Keep an eye on it.
That's the story. Keep the nose up.
Rusty.
