Table - best surf conditions forecast for The Point (Elands Bay) over the next 16 days.

G'day, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer for The Point at Elands Bay over the next couple of weeks.

First up, the water’s sitting at 56°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year – nothing wild, but you’ll want a decent wetsuit.

The opening stretch is pretty quiet. Sunday the 12th is a write-off with poor surf and a cross-on breeze. Monday the 13th offers a tiny bit of 2ft glassy wave in the morning, but it’s very ordinary. Not even worth rushing for. That gap runs right through until Tuesday the 14th, where the morning session finally shows a pulse. Tuesday morning has 3ft of W swell, glassy conditions, and the wave energy is moderate (213). It’s a solid call for a slow period – clean, small, but ridable.

Wednesday the 15th morning is where things start to get interesting. The swell is still 3ft, but it’s swinging to a WSW direction with a very long period of 16 seconds. The combined energy hits 426 – moderate but that groundswell quality is real. The wind is cross-off and it’s clean. This is a proper point-break pulse, and with that long period, The Point will line up nicely. Thursday the 16th morning is the standout of the first week. Swell jumps to 6ft from the WSW, period 13 seconds, and the energy is strong (1224). The wind is offshore from the SSE, light, and conditions are clean. This is excellent for experienced surfers – solid, powerful, and well-shaped. Crowds are sometimes, so you might have a few mates out, but nothing crazy.

Friday the 17th keeps the good run going with 5ft from the SW, clean conditions and a cross-off breeze in the morning. The energy is still moderate (512). It’s a very good session, but Thursday is the real gem.

There is a bit of a lull over the weekend. Saturday the 18th is marginal, and Sunday the 19th morning is glassy with 3ft but the energy is moderate (321) – clean but small. Monday the 20th drops off with poor conditions.

Then we get another solid push. Tuesday the 21st afternoon sees a 3ft SW swell with an 18-second period and energy of 918 – strong groundswell, clean, but the height is small. Wednesday the 22nd is a mess with strong cross-onshore winds and 6ft swell – not worth it. Thursday the 23rd is onshore and poor.

Now, the real standout of the whole outlook is Friday the 24th. Morning is glassy with 6ft from the WSW, period 14 seconds, and energy of 1080. The afternoon is even better: 6ft from the SW, 14 seconds, energy at 1287, and a light cross-off breeze. Clean, powerful, and for experienced surfers. This is the one to mark on your calendar. Saturday the 25th morning has 7ft and a glassy start, but the wind is onshore – still, the afternoon is glassy again with 7ft and 16-second period, energy at 1953. That’s very strong, but it’s big; only for the experts. Sunday the 26th offers 7ft in the afternoon with light cross-shore wind, but it’s a bit messy.

Monday the 27th morning wraps it up with 7ft from the WSW, 14 seconds, energy at 1826, and clean with a light cross-off breeze. Excellent for those who know what they’re doing.

The best of the bunch is Friday the 24th – both morning and afternoon. Clean, solid, and that SW groundswell is exactly what this point wants. If you can only get one session, that’s the one.

Rusty.
