Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cooking for Doring Bay over the next couple of weeks.

It’s gonna start off a bit of a mixed bag, to be honest. We've got some solid swell coming in, but the wind and conditions are going to be fighting us. The main event looks like it's going to be a big pulse of SW groundswell that shows up properly around the middle of next week, but we gotta get through a bit of mediocrity first.

Right now, the water temp is sitting at 57°, which is a touch over a degree colder than usual for this time of year – you’ll feel that clean, crisp bite.
Come Friday afternoon the 10th, the first wave sets are pushing in with some decent energy – we’re looking at combined energy of 1655 (moderate wave energy) – but the wind is howling from the SW, making the lineup cross and choppy. It’s a bit of a write-off for a decent session. Not your day. Saturday the 11th morning looks better. That same SW swell drops a notch to 6 ft with a 12-second period, but the magic happens with an easterly breeze that’ll turn it glassy-clean. That window Saturday morning is the first real standout of the run – wave energy is still solid at 1152 (moderate wave energy), so get out if you can, but it’s good for the experienced crew. The swell is pushing 6 ft, so beginners might find it a bit too much. By Saturday afternoon, that clean window closes up.

Sunday the 12th drops right off, and we go into a real flat spell. For a few days there – Sunday through to Tuesday the 14th – the swell is tiny, barely 3 ft or less. Not worth paddling out for. The energy just isn't there.

Wednesday the 15th afternoon starts to wake up again. A new, longer-period SW swell rolls in. The period hits 16 seconds – that’s proper groundswell, just what this reef wants. Combined energy jumps to 1256 (moderate wave energy) with 5 ft swell, but unfortunately Wednesday afternoon has a cross-shore messing it up. Patience.

Now, here’s the big one you’ve been waiting for. Thursday the 16th morning looks absolutely enormous. We’re talking a 10 ft SW groundswell with a 14-second period. That is a massive pulse, with combined energy roaring up to 2930 (strong wave energy). Now, I gotta be straight with you – at that size, this spot is only for absolute experts. Doring Bay is an exposed reef, and when a long-period swell like this gets over 8 ft, it can be a dangerous beast. Beginners, stay well clear. Even the experienced crew need to be on their game. The wind is light and offshore, so it’ll be clean, but it’s going to be heavy and powerful. This is the true standout of the whole forecast, but it’s not one to take lightly.

Friday the 17th is still solid. The swell eases to 7 ft in the morning, with a 12-second period. The southerly cross-off wind keeps it clean. Combined energy is down to 1076 (moderate wave energy) – still a really good day for experienced surfers. That Friday morning would be the pick of the second half of the run.

After that, the energy fades out again over the weekend and into the next week. There’s a brief flicker on July 25th – a Saturday morning – with a 6 ft SW swell, glassy conditions, and zero wind. That’s a dream window, but remember it’s a long way out, so treat it as promising but not locked in. Combined energy sits at 1042 (moderate wave energy) – it’ll be a clean, fun session if it holds.

For now, lock in Saturday morning the 11th for a clean session, and circle Thursday the 16th morning if you’ve got the skills and the guts for something big.

Rusty, signing off.
