Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fish Boma over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it. We’ve got a decent run of surf on the horizon at Fish Boma, a solid reef break that’s exposed to the south. The water temperature is sitting at 62.4°, which is pretty much bang on average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
The big story this week is the size. We’re kicking off Friday, July 10th, with a solid 9.8ft SSW groundswell, and that’s packing some serious heat – the combined energy is a massive 3131. This is powerful stuff, and with a 13-second period, it’s a proper groundswell. Definitely for experienced surfers only at this size. The morning is a bit messy with a light cross-wind, but the afternoon cleans right up with glassy conditions and a light offshore wind. That’s the pick of the day, no question.
The swell eases a touch into Saturday, July 11th, with 8.2ft to 7.9ft SSW swell, still a big, powerful set. The morning is looking clean with a light cross-offshore wind from the east, but the wind picks up in the afternoon. Sunday, July 12th, is a step down to 5.2ft, with clean conditions and a nice offshore breeze. That’s a much more manageable size for a good session.
We hit a bit of a lull from Monday, July 13th, through to Wednesday, July 15th. The swell drops right off to around 3.3ft or less, and the energy is weak (around 244-327). The conditions are glassy, making for a nice paddle, but there’s just not enough push for a proper wave. It’s a waiting game.
Then things get interesting again. On Thursday, July 16th, a new pulse of 8.2ft SW groundswell rolls in, with energy at 2685. The catch is the wind is not ideal, staying cross or cross-on, so it’ll be a bit lumpy. The real standout, though, is Monday, July 20th. We see a 8.2ft SW groundswell with a 2043 energy reading, and it’s dead glassy in the morning. That’s the session to circle on your calendar. The swell is a touch big for beginners, but for the experienced crew, it’s going to be firing. The direction is spot on for the reef.
The following week has some promise, but it’s less certain. We see a few more solid pulses, but the wind is a problem on the 22nd and 23rd, with strong onshore winds making things choppy. The 23rd of July has a huge 13.1ft SSW swell, but it’s with an onshore wind, so that’s a big, messy beast. The 25th of July might be the one to watch for experienced surfers, as a 7.9ft SW groundswell with a 14-second period hits, and the wind is clean and cross-offshore. That’s a long way out, but it’s worth keeping an eye on.
Overall, the best clean, powerful surf sits on Friday afternoon the 10th and Monday morning the 20th. Get out there if you’ve got the skills.
