Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fish Boma over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. We’ve got a long, slow burn ahead at Fish Boma, but patience is going to pay off big time.
Right off the bat, Sunday the 12th brings in a solid start with chest-high sets around 5.2 ft out of the SSW with a nice 11-second period. The wind’s holding cross-off from the east, so the face is going to be clean. The water’s sitting at 62°, which is about 1.3° cooler than average for this time of year – nothing wild, just a touch nippy. That combined energy is sitting at a moderate 968, plenty of push to get you into the wave. Morning is the go, the afternoon gets a bit skinnier. Crowds can pop up here on the better days, so keep an eye out.
Monday the 13th morning is a real glass-off – absolutely zero wind – but the swell drops to waist-shoulder high at 3.6 ft. It’ll be clean and inviting, just not packing the same punch. Period’s still a decent 10 seconds. The combined energy drops to 478, so it’s weaker but still fun for a grovel.
Tuesday the 14th keeps the glassy theme early with a light west wind and 4.6 ft swell from the ESE, 9-second period. Clean, mellow, but again, not a standout. Energy is moderate at 415. Afternoon turns a bit cross-onshore, so morning is the play.
Into the middle of the week, Wednesday the 15th morning drops right off to 3.3 ft with a messy cross-shore wind – not worth paddling out for. The afternoon sees a wildcard: a long-period 17-second swell from the SW jumps the energy up to a strong 1104, but the wind is straight onshore. That’s a case of all that energy being wasted.
Now listen up. Thursday the 16th is where things start waking up. Morning brings a solid 8.2 ft SW swell with a 14-second groundswell period. That’s a long-period swell, and at a reef like Fish Boma, it’s going to line up beautifully. The wind is light cross-shore from the WNW, so it’s not perfect but far from blown. Combined energy is a very strong 2446. This is a solid expert session – 8.2 ft is pushing the big side for intermediates.
Friday the 17th holds size at 8.2 ft, but the wind gets messy in the morning with cross-onshore and light rain. Afternoon cleans up a bit with a light cross-shore, solid 7.9 ft SW swell. That 11-second period keeps it punchy (energy 1438).
The weekend, Saturday the 18th, is a clear win. Morning is 5.6 ft from the SSW with a clean cross-off breeze from the ENE. Combined energy 956, nice and solid. Afternoon drops in height but the period jumps to 14 seconds with energy 972 – beautiful, clean lines. Best of the weekend right there.
Sunday the 19th morning is a bit crumbly, but the afternoon offers a glassy 4.3 ft from the east, 9-second period – clean, small, and playful.
Monday the 20th? Skip it. Wind is cross-onshore and the swell jumps to 9.8 ft in the afternoon, but it’s a straight-up chop fest. Not surfable.
Tuesday the 21st has a fun-looking afternoon: a long, 18-second period SSW swell at 4.3 ft, with a clean cross-off wind. Combined energy is a strong 2023, so there’s heaps of power in that small face. That’s a sneaky good session.
Now, the absolute standout of this whole 16-day forecast lands on Wednesday the 22nd. Morning is glassy, the wind is dead calm from the NNE, and the swell is a solid 9.8 ft from the SSW with a 16-second period. Combined energy is a massive 5206 – that’s strong, powerful energy. This is expert territory only, period. The afternoon stays clean with cross-off winds and the same 9.8 ft, 15-second swell. This is the session you circle in red.
Thursday the 23rd remains excellent. The afternoon is glassy, 8.2 ft from the SSW, 14-second period, and the energy is 2296. Another fantastic expert window.
Friday the 24th keeps the run going: morning with 8.2 ft SW swell, long 15-second period, light offshore east wind – energy 3213. Afternoon jumps to 9.8 ft, 16-second period, cross-off, energy 4027. Clean, powerful, and relentless.
Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th continue the pumping swell with 9.8 ft to 11.5 ft SSW/SW swell, but winds are less consistent. However, Sunday the 26th afternoon is another absolute gem: glassy, 11.5 ft from the SW with 16-second period, and an exceptional energy reading of 5818. That is the biggest and cleanest day on the charts.
Monday the 27th closes the forecast with a glassy 11
