Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fish Boma over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get straight into it. We’ve got a solid run of swell ahead at Fish Boma, a reef setup that’s exposed and picks up swell best from the south. The water’s sitting at 62°F – about average for this time of year, nothing wild.
The action kicks off Monday morning, July 13th, with clean 4ft SSW groundswell and absolutely glassy conditions. The combined energy is moderate (508) – a nice, clean start to the week. That morning session is the standout for the early days.
Monday afternoon drops a touch to 3ft, still glassy, still clean. Tuesday morning is a bit of a write-off with a cross-onshore wind on a 5ft ESE swell, but Tuesday afternoon cleans up again with glassy conditions and the same 5ft, period picking up to 9 seconds. Wednesday morning keeps that clean, glassy trend with 3ft waves.
Then Wednesday afternoon, July 15th, is where things get interesting. A new SW groundswell fills in at 4ft but with a very long 17-second period, packing a punch with combined energy of 1421. It’s glassy – this is a proper standout for experienced surfers, as the long period will make for some beautiful, lined-up waves on the reef. The crowd factor is “sometimes,” so you might have some company, but it’s worth it.
From Thursday July 16th through to Sunday July 19th, we’ve got solid SW swell, but the winds get messy – cross-onshore and cross-shore breezes, especially on Friday. The swell size hits 8ft on Thursday and Friday, which is expert territory. Thursday morning is still glassy with 8ft SW and 14-second period, combined energy at 2566 – that’s a powerful, punchy session for the confident crew.
Saturday July 18th is a gem: morning glass with 7ft S swell (13 seconds) and 1819 energy, followed by another glassy afternoon with 6ft SSE. That Saturday is your best bet for the week if you want size and clean conditions.
Sunday the 19th is a bit more onshore, but the swell holds. Monday July 20th morning glass with 5ft SW (11 seconds) – a nice, solid wave.
Then from Tuesday July 21st, we see a ramp-up. Tuesday morning has 10ft SSW swell with a 16-second period, combined energy at 4398 – but it’s cross-onshore, so not clean. Wednesday July 22nd is the standout in the longer range: glassy both morning and afternoon, 8ft SW swell at 14 seconds, energy above 2000. That’s a proper, clean, powerful swell for experienced surfers.
Thursday July 23rd is a write-off – 15ft and 35 km/h cross-onshore winds, just a mess. But Friday July 24th morning cleans up with light cross-offshore winds and 7ft SSW swell, energy at 995 – a good call for a late-week surf.
Saturday July 25th and Sunday July 26th both have glassy or clean conditions with 7ft SW groundswell, periods of 14-15 seconds, and energy well over 1000. That whole weekend is solid.
Into the second week, Monday July 27th and Tuesday July 28th see the winds turn onshore and the swell stays solid but messy. The best of the late run is definitely the weekend of July 25-26.
Overall, the clear standout is Wednesday July 22nd – glassy, 8ft SW, 14-second period, huge energy. That’s the one to circle. The Saturday July 18th is also a ripper. Get on it.
Rusty.
