Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fish Boma over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's break down what's on the table for Fish Boma over the next couple of weeks. We've got a reef break that's fairly consistent and exposed to the south swell, and it can handle a crowd sometimes. The water temp is sitting about average for this time of year, so nothing too wild there.
The first few days are a bit of a write-off, to be honest. Wednesday and Thursday (8th and 9th July) have a decent 7.5ft to 10.0ft SW swell running, but the wind is all cross or cross-onshore, keeping things choppy and messy. The combined energy is up there, (between 1972 and 3474), but the quality just isn't there for a good paddle. Not worth getting too excited about.
Friday the 10th is where we start to see a real shift. The morning is still a bit bumpy, but by Friday afternoon, it goes glassy. We've got a solid 10.0ft SSW groundswell with a long 13-second period, and the energy is still pumping (2863). This is the first real standout of the period – clean, powerful, and begging to be ridden. It's going to be pushing the limits for beginners though.
Saturday the 11th keeps the good vibes going with an 8.2ft S swell and clean, cross-offshore winds in the morning. The energy is still strong (1896). This is another excellent window. We then ease into a really nice stretch for Sunday the 12th with a smaller, glassy 5.2ft SSW swell (758 energy). Perfect conditions for a wider range of surfers.
After that, we hit a flat spell. From Monday the 13th right through to the early hours of Wednesday the 15th, it drops right off – poor conditions, weak swell, and messy winds. Not worth suiting up for.
Then things get interesting again. A big pulse of SW swell hits on Thursday the 16th, pushing 13.1ft and packing a massive 4723 energy, but it's accompanied by strong, lumpy cross-onshore winds. That setup is going to be a washing machine – probably more interesting for the kite crowd than us paddle surfers unless you're a masochist.
Friday the 17th stays big (11.5ft) with SSW groundswell (13 seconds), and the wind swings offshore in the morning. The energy is huge (4652), making for a powerful, challenging session for experienced surfers only. Saturday the 18th is smaller and cleaner, but those strong east winds might keep it a bit bumpy.
Now, looking out into the second week, there's a serious highlight brewing. Wednesday the 22nd of July is the big one to circle on your calendar. The afternoon is forecast to go dead glassy, with a 7.9ft SW swell and a ridiculously long 18-second period. The energy is massive at 4731. This is groundswell perfection, straight in the optimum direction. This is going to be one for the memory bank – big, clean, and powerful, but that long period will be best appreciated on a reef like this. It's a long-range call, so a bit less certain, but the potential is off the charts.
The 20th and 21st also offer some cleaner, smaller windows leading into that, but Wednesday the 22nd is the true standout of the whole outlook.
