Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Hey, Rusty here again, same forecast but in feet and degrees Fahrenheit for you.
Things are flat right now, but there’s a solid run of swell coming. The best window is from Monday, July 6th through Saturday, July 11th. Saturday and Sunday before that are too small to bother with. After the 11th, it goes quiet for a long stretch until around the 18th.
We’re only looking at Jacobs Bay. It’s a beginner-friendly break, exposed to the swell, and it breaks with reasonable consistency.
Monday morning, July 6th is the first good day. A clean 7ft swell out of the WSW with 11-second intervals, moderate energy (1364). The wind is a light cross-off from the SE, so the waves will be tidy. This one’s for experienced surfers – that’s a lot of water moving. The water temp is 57°, which is about 3° colder than average for this time of year – a bit brisk.
That swell carries into Tuesday morning, July 7th – 6ft from the SW, 12-second period, strong energy (1384), still clean under cross-off winds.
Wednesday morning, July 8th is the biggest: 8ft from the SW, 13-second period, and the energy is a massive 2548. That’s expert-only territory. The breeze is still cross-off and clean.
My top pick is Friday morning, July 10th. The swell drops to a punchy 6ft from the SSW, but with a long 13-second period – real groundswell. The energy is still solid (1333), and the wind is a light cross-off from the ESE. It’ll be glassy and perfect for any experienced surfer who can handle it.
Saturday morning, July 11th is another beauty – 6ft from the SSW, 13-second period, and a pure offshore wind from the E at just 6 mph. The waves will be holding up clean and lined up. A morning for the quiver.
Then it dies. From Sunday the 12th through Thursday the 17th, the swell drops under 4ft, winds turn onshore or messy, and the energy is weak. A long, boring stretch.
Saturday, July 18th tries to bring some life back with a 5ft SW swell and 14-second period, but the wind is cross-onshore from the NNW, so it’ll be lumpy. It’s a long way out and uncertain.
Bottom line: If you’re experienced, make plans for Friday the 10th or Saturday the 11th. Clean, solid, and offshore – that’s as good as it gets.
Rusty.
