Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cooking at Off The Wall over the next couple of weeks. It’s a quiet start, but hang tight, because there’s some serious juice building later on.
Right now, we’re looking at a bit of a lull. The first couple of days are pretty ordinary, with small, weak swell and tricky conditions that aren’t worth paddling out for. The real action doesn't fire up until Monday the 6th of July. That’s when a proper SW groundswell arrives, and it’s a game changer.
Monday morning brings a clean 7ft swell from the WSW with a period of 11 seconds and glassy conditions. The wave energy is already strong at (1210). That’s a good sign. For the advanced crew, this is where it gets interesting. The afternoon stays glassy and clean, with 6ft swell.
Tuesday the 7th is another standout. Morning glass-off with a 6ft SW swell, period at 12 seconds, and energy climbing to (1368). Afternoon pushes up to 8ft from the SW, 13-second period, with a light cross-off breeze keeping it clean. This is solid, walled-up reef surfing for experienced surfers only – 8ft is getting up there for the average punter.
Wednesday the 8th holds the quality. The morning is clean again, with a 7ft SW swell and 13-second period, energy at (2355). The afternoon gets a bit windier with a moderate breeze, but still cross-off and clean at 8ft. Still excellent, but watch that wind pickup.
Now, if you’re an expert and you want the best of the best, mark Thursday the 9th of July. Thursday morning is firing: a solid 10ft SSW groundswell with a 14-second period and a moderate offshore breeze. The combined energy is huge at (3110). That’s a big, powerful, clean swell that’s going to line up beautifully on the reef. This is the highlight of the whole outlook. The afternoon stays excellent too with 8ft and offshore winds.
Friday the 10th keeps the quality with offshore winds and 8ft swell, and Saturday the 11th has a glassy morning at 6ft. Things start to fade after that, with the swell dropping through the weekend and into the following week. We’ve got small, weak surf from Monday the 13th to Wednesday the 15th.
But don’t switch off. There’s a standout big swell on the horizon. Friday the 17th of July looks monstrous – a 16ft SW swell with a 12-second period, and offshore winds. The energy numbers are staggering (6624). This is huge. It’s strictly for the experts, and even then, it’s going to be a handful. It might even be more of a kitesurfing show than paddle surfing, given the size and the fresh breeze. The following days hold solid, but dropping, swell through the weekend.
So, the pick of the period is clear: Thursday the 9th of July morning for that perfect combo of serious size, long-period groundswell, and clean offshore wind. Friday the 17th of July is the big wave bonus round for the brave.
Stay sharp, and don’t sleep on that Thursday session.
