Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Right, let’s have a look at what’s coming up here. We’ve got a solid run of SW swell on the cards for Off The Wall. The ocean’s got a proper pulse through the middle of the first week, all groundswell too, with periods hanging around 12 to 14 seconds. Plenty of energy pumping through – we’re seeing combined energy values in the four-digit range, 1370 to over 2900 during the peak, so that’s moderate to strong stuff.
Water temp is sitting at 58°F, which is a bit colder than normal for the time of year.
The real standout kicks off Tuesday afternoon the 7th. The swell is a clean 7ft from the SW at 13 seconds, and the wind goes glassy. That’s the good stuff. Wednesday morning the 8th looks just as clean, with no wind at all – glassy conditions on 7ft SW groundswell. That’s the pick of the first few days. If you’re an experienced surfer, these are the windows you want. Remember, over 8ft is expert territory, but we sit just under that for these sessions, so strong intermediate and above will have a ball. Crowds can be an issue here sometimes, so get out early.
Thursday morning the 9th pushes up to 8ft from the SW with a 14-second period and clean offshore wind from the SSE. That’s a proper session for the experienced crew. The afternoon gets a bit bigger at 10ft, but the wind swings, making it less ideal.
Friday the 10th remains solid for the early with 10ft SW and offshore winds, but later the wind picks up strong. Saturday the 11th stays clean with offshore winds and 7 to 7ft swell.
After that, things taper off through Sunday and Monday, dropping below 5ft, with the surf fading through the start of the second week. From Monday the 14th through to Wednesday the 16th, there’s a real lull – waves drop under 3ft, and the wind is messy. That’s a few days where it’s not worth paddling out.
Then we get a pulse back on Thursday the 16th – 8ft from the WSW, but it’s onshore and choppy, so not great quality. The weekend of the 18th is small but clean, with glassy 3ft waves – not a standout but fun if you’re keen.
The next real highlight is Sunday the 19th. That’s a week and a half out, so keep an eye on it, but the forecast is for a 10ft WSW groundswell with glassy conditions in the morning. That’s a big, clean day for experts. The combined energy hits 2156, so there’s plenty of push. The afternoon bumps up even more with a 10ft and 14-second period, but the wind gets a little cross-onshore.
After that, Monday and Tuesday the 20th and 21st are smaller but still have some clean windows. The very end of the outlook on Tuesday afternoon the 21st is interesting – a tiny 2ft swell but with a super long 18-second period and clean offshore wind. That’s a weird one, more of a novelty.
Overall, the best bet is Tuesday afternoon the 7th and Wednesday morning the 8th. If you want something bigger and can wait, Sunday the 19th morning looks promising for experts.
