Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it.
The Wedge is our only player in this outlook, and it’s got a real mixed bag over the next 16 days. We start off with some choice windows, but there’s a long dry spell in the middle you’ll want to avoid. The water temp is sitting at 57°F with an anomaly of -3°F, so it’s a bit colder than normal for this time of year – you’ll want a decent wetsuit.
The first stand-out is Monday morning, July 6th. We’ve got a clean 7ft swell from the WSW with an 11-second period, and the combined energy is solid (1205). The wind is totally glassy out of the NE, so conditions are going to be perfect. This is a breakwater setup that’s fairly consistent, but it can get crowded sometimes, so get in early. The swell direction is a bit off from the optimum W, but it’s still going to fire.
That glassy spell holds through Monday afternoon with 6ft surf, and then Tuesday afternoon, July 7th, looks promising again. The swell bumps up to 8ft from the SW, period jumps to 13 seconds, and the energy is pumping (1899). With glassy SW wind, that’s another real clean session.
The real standout, though, is Wednesday morning, July 8th. The swell is 7ft from the SW, period is a solid 13 seconds, and the combined energy is massive (2420). The wind is calm, glassy, and it’s looking like very good surf. This is the best of the whole run.
Now, Thursday July 9th through to Friday July 10th, the swell jumps up to 10ft from the SSW. That’s getting into expert-only territory, especially for a breakwater spot. The winds are cross-off, so it’s clean, but it’s big and powerful.
Saturday July 11th still has some decent 6ft swell, but by Sunday July 12th, things start to fade. From Monday July 13th all the way through Wednesday July 15th, it’s pretty poor. The swell drops below 4ft, winds get messy, and the scores are useless. That’s a solid 3-day gap with nothing to write home about.
Things finally start to look up again on Thursday morning, July 16th. We get a clean 6ft swell from the SW, 12-second period, and glassy SSE wind. The energy is back (1122). That’s worth a look.
The run continues into the weekend. Sunday July 19th is another good one – morning has a 7ft WSW swell with 13-second period and clean ESE cross-off wind (1623 energy), and the afternoon goes glassy with 6ft surf. That’s a nice way to close out the second week.
The very end of the outlook, Tuesday July 21st, has small 5ft WSW swell but glassy conditions, so it’s surfable but nothing special.
Rusty.
