Table - best surf conditions forecast for Weld Road over the next 16 days.
G'day, Rusty here, checking in on the surf for Weld Road. This stretch of reef is the only break on the cards for the next couple of weeks, so we're locked in on what it's doing. The water temp is pretty much what you'd expect for this time of year, so no surprises there.
We kick off Sunday, July 12th, with a solid pulse. The morning is the pick early on with a 7ft WSW groundswell packing a long 16-second period. The wind is light and cross-off from the east, so it's going to be clean. The swell energy is strong at 1982, making for excellent conditions if you've got the skills. The afternoon holds up at 6ft, but the wind swings around to a cross-on, making it a bit less inviting.
Monday and Tuesday, July 13th and 14th, are a write-off. Strong northerly winds and rain mess up the surface, so you're better off staying home. The swell drops, and the quality is poor.
The real headline act comes in on Wednesday, July 15th. The morning sees a massive 10ft, 16-second WSW groundswell pushing through with strong energy readings (6633). The wind is onshore, but the real story is the afternoon: a 12ft, 16-second WSW swell with 6363 of energy. This is serious, big-wave territory – only for experts. The wind is cross-on, so it won't be perfect, but the sheer power is undeniable.
Thursday, July 16th, is the standout. The morning is absolute gold. A 10ft, 15-second WSW swell with a light cross-off breeze from the SSW. It's clean, it's powerful, and the energy is high (3750). This is the best session on offer for experienced surfers. The afternoon drops to 8ft but the wind swings offshore, staying clean.
Friday, July 17th, the wind gets messy again, with a cross-shore chop making things lumpy. The swell holds at 7ft, but it's not worth the paddle.
Saturday, July 18th, brings a silver lining. The afternoon session sees a 8ft, 17-second WSW groundswell with a clean offshore wind from the SSE. The energy is cranked up to 3736, and it's excellent for the experienced crew.
The following week, starting Sunday, July 19th, the swell drops a bit but remains solid. The morning is clean with a 7ft, 16-second SW swell and a light offshore wind. Good, clean waves. The energy drops off through Monday and Tuesday, with smaller but still clean options on offer, including a glassy afternoon on July 20th with 4ft waves.
Things get a bit unpredictable after that. Wednesday, July 22nd, sees another big spike of 12ft, but it's from the south with a short, choppy period, and the wind is messy. The real gem is on Saturday, July 25th. The afternoon looks incredible: a 7ft, 18-second WSW groundswell with glassy conditions. The energy is huge at 4350, and it's a top-tier session. Sunday, July 26th, the morning holds clean with a 7ft, 16-second swell, but the wind turns onshore later.
All in all, the best windows are the morning of Thursday, July 16th, and the afternoon of Saturday, July 25th. Both are clean, powerful, and for the experienced surfer.
Rusty.
