Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Hey everyone, Rusty here checking in on Stent Road. This heavy reef and point break is mostly for advanced rippers, and we’ve got a big window of action coming up.
Right now it’s a slow start. Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th July have hardly any swell and a moderate breeze – skip it.
Sunday 5th July gets up to 7ft from the WNW, but the period is short at 9 seconds and it’s cross-onshore with rain. Wave energy is building (1235) but it’s choppy junk. Afternoon cleans up a bit but still marginal.
Now here’s the real deal. Monday 6th July morning – the standout. Swell hits 8ft from the WSW with a 13-second period and a strong offshore wind from the ESE at 25 mph. The combined energy is pumping (3510) – clean, powerful, but this is expert territory only. By the afternoon it’s even bigger, 10ft with a 17-second period (5282 energy), winds cross-off. This is the best session on the cards.
Tuesday 7th July keeps it solid with another 8ft swell, 15-second period (4906 energy). Morning has a light cross-off, excellent for experienced surfers. Afternoon goes near-glass with an easy SSE breeze, still a meaty 8ft.
Wednesday 8th July drops to 6ft but the wind picks up and rain moves in. Not good.
Second week is quieter. Thursday 9th through Saturday 11th July runs a consistent 5ft to 6ft from the WSW with long periods up to 17 seconds. Winds are light to moderate cross-off – clean conditions. Saturday 11th morning is excellent for experienced surfers with a clean 5ft. Then Sunday 12th July offers a glassy afternoon, 5ft at 15 seconds with barely any wind – a beautiful session on the point.
Monday 13th to Wednesday 15th July drops off. Swell under 4ft, winds turn onshore or cross-onshore. Wednesday 15th afternoon does show a small, clean window with a 4ft, 17-second groundswell and a light offshore E wind.
Thursday 16th to Saturday 18th July is marginal with onshore winds and risk of storms.
So, the big takeaway: Monday 6th July is the absolute standout – big, clean, and powerful for experts. Tuesday 7th is also top-tier. For a glassy, long-period cruise, hit Sunday 12th afternoon. This spot is consistent and exposed, and crowds are often around, so expect company when it’s good.
Rusty.
