Table - best surf conditions forecast for Stent Road over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s talk about Stent Road. It’s a reef and point break for the advanced crew, consistent, and it lights up with a SW swell. The crowds can show up, so be ready for that.
The water’s a bit warmer than usual, sitting at 59° with a 2° positive anomaly, so it’s a touch above average for this time of year.
The big one is Sunday morning, July 12th. That’s the session to circle. We’ve got a 6-foot swell from the WSW, with a 16-second period – that’s long, groundswell energy. The wind is light, 3 mph from the ENE, so it’s glassy. The combined energy is strong, at 1547. This is the best wave of the outlook. It’s a big wave, over 5 feet, so it’s for experts only. The afternoon is still solid with a 6-foot swell and a cross-off wind, but it’s not as clean.
Monday the 13th is a washout with rain and strong onshore winds. Tuesday the 14th has a clean morning, but the swell is 6 feet with a short 8-second period, so it’s not going to have the same power.
The next big pulse hits on Wednesday the 15th, but it’s a wild one. The swell is massive – 10 feet in the morning, 12 feet in the afternoon – and it’s a long period groundswell at 16 seconds. The energy is huge, 4637 and 5362. But the wind is cross-on, so it’s going to be messy. This is for experts only, and honestly, with that much power and a cross-on wind, it might be more interesting for the kiteboarders.
Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th are poor with strong onshore winds.
Look at the morning of Saturday the 18th. The wind shifts to the SE at 16 mph, which is a cross-off. The swell is 6 feet from the WSW, 14 seconds, and the energy is 1915. It’s clean, but the conditions are still considered marginal.
For the second week, the standout is Tuesday morning, July 21st. A 5-foot swell from the WSW, 13-second period, and a glassy 3 mph ESE wind. It’s clean, very good conditions. The next day, Wednesday the 22nd, the swell direction changes to the SSE with a 7-foot swell and a short 7-second period. The energy is 1008, and the wind is light and cross-off, so it’s clean. It’s a bit of an odd one with that short period.
The last good call is Friday morning, July 24th. A 5-foot swell from the WSW, 12-second period, and a gentle cross-off breeze. It’s clean and very good. After that, the surf fades.
So, the best of the best is Sunday morning, July 12th. The other one to consider is Tuesday morning, July 21st. The rest is a mix of big, messy stuff or smaller, cleaner days.
Rusty.
