Table - best surf conditions forecast for Stent Road over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, giving you the lowdown on Stent Road in feet. This is a high-performance reef and point break that lives for a solid SW groundswell, and when it's on, it's a proper session. The water is sitting at 59°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so you might not need the thickest rubber.
The first real standout is Saturday morning, 11 July. We’ve got a solid 5ft swell from the WSW, with a very long period of 15 seconds, and a light SE breeze keeping it cross-off and clean. The energy is pumping hard (1284), and this is for the advanced crew only. The long period means real groundswell, so expect long, lined-up waves, but the sets will be spaced out, making the paddle out easier.
Sunday morning, 12 July, is another beauty. The swell is a touch bigger at 6ft, still from the WSW, and the period is a solid 16 seconds. The wind shifts to a light ENE offshore at just 5 km/h, which is about as clean as it gets. It’s going to be glassy, and the wave energy is massive (1547). This is the best session on offer early on, but it’s an advanced wave, so respect the lineup.
Monday comes in rough with a strong northerly wind, and the swell drops. The next good window is Friday morning, 17 July. The swell is 7ft, still WSW, and the period is 14 seconds, with a light SSE cross-off breeze. The energy is solid (1428), and it’s clean. Not as big as the weekend before, but a quality session.
Then, look at Sunday morning, 19 July. This is the one. We’ve got a 6ft swell from the WSW, with a 15-second period, and the wind is coming from the SW at just 5 km/h, creating a glassy ocean. The energy is very strong (2077). This is a proper, clean, powerful groundswell, and for a point and reef setup, it’s going to be pure magic. If you can only surf one session, make it this one.
The second week is more mixed. There’s a brief window on Thursday morning, 23 July, with a small 4ft WSW swell and a clean ENE cross-off breeze, but it’s not a standout. The energy is low (459). The 24th and 25th have some bigger swell (8ft to 8ft) but the wind is onshore or cross-shore, making it choppy. The bigger stuff on the 24th and 25th, with a 12-second period, will be dumping faster, so the reef is your best bet.
After that, the 26th gets messy with strong NE winds. So, your best chances are locked in for the first weekend, and that Sunday the 19th is the absolute highlight. Keep an eye on the wind.
Rusty.
