Table - best surf conditions forecast for Stent Road over the next 16 days.
G’day, I’m Rusty. Let’s run through what’s shaping up at Stent Road for the next couple of weeks. This is a reef and point break that only works for advanced surfers, and it loves a good SW groundswell. Water temp is about what you’d expect for this time of year, nothing unusual.
We’ve got a slow start. Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th are ugly – cross-off winds screaming at 19–34 mph, and the swell is either short period or huge and blown out. Thursday morning is 15 ft of S swell with a near gale – that’s just dangerous. Forget it.
Friday the 10th drops but still messy. Don’t bother. Then we hit the first real standout. Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th are looking prime. Saturday morning has 5 ft of WSW groundswell with a very long 15-second period, light breeze, clean – that’s proper energy for the reef. Afternoon picks to 6 ft at 17 seconds. Sunday holds 5–6 ft with light winds. These two days are the best of the first week. Crowds are likely here – it’s often busy.
Monday the 13th fades with northerly wind, Tuesday the 14th is tiny and onshore – skip it.
Wednesday the 15th sees a new pulse of 8–10 ft WSW at 16 seconds, but it’s cross-on and choppy. Not clean. Thursday the 16th is a total turnaround. Morning has 8 ft of WSW with barely any wind – basically glassy. The combined energy is at 2408, strong, and the quality is excellent for experienced surfers. That’s the mid-week highlight.
Friday the 17th is okay but moderate breeze, not a standout. Saturday the 18th – circle this one. Morning shows 4 ft of WSW groundswell at a massive 21-second period, with light offshore from the ESE. That’s a dream setup for a reef. Afternoon bumps to 5 ft at 20 seconds. Combined energy hits 1923 in the morning – serious grunt. This is another standout, but remember, that super-long period can make beach breaks close out – on the reef it’ll be gold.
Sunday the 19th holds clean 7–7 ft WSW at 16 seconds with light south-easterlies – very surfable. Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st keep rolling 7 ft sets, clean, light winds – consistent and quality. Tuesday afternoon gets a little cross-shore but still rideable.
From Wednesday the 22nd into Thursday the 23rd, it fades. Wednesday morning has 5 ft at 12 seconds, clean but the energy drops to 600 – not the same. Thursday the 23rd is small and blown out by a fresh north-easterly.
The real standouts? Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th for clean, long-period groundswell in the chest-to-head range, and Saturday the 18th for the offshore, super-long-period combo that’ll have the reef absolutely singing. Both windows are worth planning around.
Stay safe out there.
Rusty.
