Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming up for Stent Road over the next 16 days.
We’ve got some real variety – a bit of a tease early on, then a proper gap of quiet, and a standout session way down the track that’s got my heart pumping. This is a reef and point break, advanced only, consistent and exposed to the SW. Water temp is sitting at 59.4°F with the anomaly a touch over 1.8°F warmer than usual – so not crazy, but definitely a bit more forgiving than average for this time of year. And expect crowds here; it’s often packed.
Tuesday 7th July kicks things off with a morning of clean offshore ESE breeze and a solid 8.2ft WSW groundswell pushing in at 15 seconds. Combined wave energy of 2887 – that’s strong, proper grunt. Only for the experienced crew, but the conditions are excellent. By afternoon the wind swings cross-off, swell drops a little to 6.9ft, still clean but the tide might throw a spanner.
Then we hit a rough patch. Wednesday 8th through Friday 10th are messy – strong winds, cross-off and choppy conditions, with swell jumbled and periods dropping short. Thursday actually sees a 16.4ft monster but the near gale makes it a washout. Friday shows some longer period WSW swell but still cross-off wind, marginal at best.
Saturday 11th is where things brighten up again. Morning has a clean 4.6ft WSW swell at 15 seconds, light SE breeze, energy 1200. Afternoon gets even better: 3.6ft but with an incredible 18‑second period, almost no wind, energy 1396. That’s a very long period groundswell – perfect for the point, long lines, good paddling gaps. Not huge, but quality. Crowds likely.
Sunday 12th keeps the good run going. Clear skies, light NE to NNE breeze, 5.9ft in the morning and 5.6ft in the afternoon, both 15‑16 second WSW swells, energy 1547 and 1193. Clean and fun, again for the experienced.
Then another lull. Monday 13th through Friday 17th are mostly poor – onshore winds, choppy, rain, thunderstorms at times. Some moderate swell but the wind and conditions ruin it. Not worth paddling out.
Now, the real standout is Saturday 18th July – that’s 11 days out, so keep an eye on it, but the models are looking spicy. Glassy conditions all day, complete flat calm, with a 13.1ft WSW swell at 14 seconds. Combined energy over 6000 – that’s very strong, proper power. This is expert territory – far too big for anyone else. The point will handle that long‑period groundswell beautifully. Absolutely exceptional if it holds. After that, Sunday 19th still has some clean 7.9ft waves with light NE breeze, but the
