Table - best surf conditions forecast for Robberg over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s heading our way.
For the moment, nothing doing. The surf is flat and there’s a gap of a few days before things start to show. We’re looking at the first real chance on Thursday, July 9th.
Robberg (beach and reef) gets things started on Thursday afternoon with a solid 3.0m (10ft) SSW swell, period at 13 seconds – that’s a proper groundswell. Water temp is sitting at 17°C (62°F), which is about average for this time of year. The wind is cross-on though, and the combined swell energy is a strong 3194. Not the cleanest, but there’s plenty of push. Friday morning the wind swings cross, but it’s Friday afternoon that really catches the eye. Glassy conditions, same 3.0m (10ft) SSW swell at 13 seconds, and the combined energy is still strong at 3075. That’s your standout of the first few days – clean, powerful, and offering up some excellent surf for those with experience. Crowds are possible here, so keep an eye out.
Saturday and Sunday drop off. Swell backs down, winds go cross and pick up, energy levels fall. Not worth the paddle.
Then from Monday, July 13th right through to Wednesday, July 15th, it goes small. Swell heights drop to between 1.0m (3ft) and 1.4m (5ft), periods are shorter, and energy levels are weak – combined energies around 317 to 639. You get some glassy windows, but it’s really marginal. Not a highlight.
Thursday, July 16th brings a jump. A 2.5m (8ft) SW swell at 13 seconds shows up in the morning with cross-on wind, but by Thursday afternoon the wind goes glassy and the swell settles to 2.3m (8ft). Combined energy is 1786. Excellent conditions for experienced surfers. That’s a solid window.
Friday, July 17th morning is another good call – 2.1m (7ft) SW swell, glassy, 12-second period, combined energy at 1367. It’s clean and fun. But by the afternoon a 25 km/h (15 mph) cross-wind messes it up.
The weekend of the 18th goes pretty messy. Cross-winds and light rain knock the quality right down. Then we hit Sunday, July 19th and the model throws up a huge 5.5m (18ft) SW swell at 14 seconds, combined energy a massive 19138. That’s too big for Robberg, experts only if you’re brave.
After that, things settle a bit but stay punchy. Monday, July 20th has a 3.0m (10ft) SW swell but winds are cross. Not ideal.
The real standout of the whole run sits on Wednesday, July 23rd. Thursday morning shows a 3.0m (10ft) SW swell at 15 seconds – that period is very long, and the combined energy hits 4135. And the wind? Dead calm, glassy. This is as good as it gets. That’s a session to mark on the calendar. Thursday afternoon holds similar quality with a 14-second period and glassy conditions.
The run finishes with Friday, July 24th showing a 1.8m (6ft) SW swell, glassy by afternoon, combined energy at 2075. A clean, fun end to the outlook.
Overall, you’ve got a long quiet start, a few strong but bumpy days mid-run, and one absolute beauty on Thursday, July 23rd.
Rusty.
