Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
G’day, Rusty here. We’ve got a solid run of surf on the cards at The Wreck, starting this Saturday morning and rolling through to mid-week, then a bit of a lull before another pulse arrives late in the period. Water temp is sitting at 63°, which is a touch below average for this time of year – nothing wild, just a bit cooler than usual.
Saturday morning (4 July) kicks it off glassy as, with a clean 7ft swell from the ESE pumping in at 12 seconds, and combined energy readings of 1562 (moderate to strong). The wind is dead calm – pure glass offshore, so you’re looking at smooth, lined-up waves. This is the standout of the whole forecast. Crowds are possible, but early will be worth it. That ESE swell is right on the money for this sheltered spot.
Sunday (5 July) drops a little to 5ft in the morning, still with clean cross-off breezes from the WNW and 898 combined energy. It’s good, but not as punchy as Saturday. Monday morning (6 July) comes back strong with 6ft from the SW, glassy wind from the east (combined energy 1193), and very good conditions. Monday afternoon gets a bit onshore and drops off, so hit the morning.
Tuesday (7 July) holds solid with 7ft SW swell, cross-off wind, and combined energy of 1264. Clean all day. Then Wednesday (8 July) is the big one for experienced surfers – 8ft to 8ft SSW swell at 13 seconds, fresh offshore wind from the W and WSW, and combined energy jumping to 2065 and 2209. That’s strong energy and excellent conditions, but it’s pushing over 8ft, so only for the experienced crew.
Thursday and Friday (9-10 July) see the swell hold at 10ft to 8ft, but the wind turns cross-on or onshore, and the quality drops – combined energy stays high (3220, 2901, 2224) but conditions are messy. Saturday (11 July) is a write-off with strong onshore winds.
We hit a quiet patch from Sunday (12 July) through to Wednesday (15 July) – small 2ft to 5ft waves, mostly ordinary. Thursday to Saturday (16-19 July) is also small, but Saturday afternoon (18 July) brings a new pulse: 5ft SW swell at 14 seconds, strong offshore wind from the WSW, combined energy 1101, and very good conditions again. That one’s promising but it’s two weeks out, so don’t bank on it just yet.
Overall, Saturday morning is the one to circle – glassy, clean, decent size, and that ESE direction is perfect for The Wreck.
