Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a proper look at what Left Point has in store for us over the next couple of weeks. It's a bit of a mixed bag, with some huge swell and tricky winds to work through, but there are a couple of windows where it might just come together.

First up, the water temp is sitting at 57°F, which is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.

The forecast kicks off this Saturday, the 11th of July, but to be honest, it’s a write-off. We’ve got a fresh breeze blowing straight onshore, and the swell is a weak, messy 4ft from the SW. The combined energy is a paltry 489, so don’t bother paddling out.

Sunday the 12th is even worse. The swell jumps up to 10ft from the WSW, but it’s being hammered by a near gale cross-shore. The energy is strong at 2571, but it’s a washing machine out there. This is expert-only territory due to the size, and even then, the wind is just destroying it. Honestly, this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.

Monday the 13th keeps the big 12ft swell from the SW, but with a strong cross-onshore breeze. The energy is pumping at 5485–6321, but the surface is a complete mess. Leave it.

Now, Tuesday the 14th is a standout. The swell is still big at 12ft from the SW, so this is strictly for experienced surfers. But the wind swings to a light cross-offshore breeze, and the conditions are predicted to be clean. The wave energy is very strong at 5443–5616, and with that cross-off flow, Left Point should be holding some proper, lined-up waves. Get on it if you've got the skills. Crowds are possible here, so you might have some company.

After that, things drop off. Wednesday the 15th through to Saturday the 18th sees the swell drop to a more manageable 6ft–8ft, but the wind stays cross-onshore or cross-shore, making for choppy, marginal conditions. The energy is still moderate to strong, but the quality just isn’t there. Not worth the effort.

Sunday the 19th is a dead loss – tiny 2ft swell with a strong onshore breeze. Forget it.

Monday the 20th brings a pulse of 8ft from the WSW, but a moderate cross-shore chop ruins it. It’s marginal at best.

The next real beacon is Wednesday the 22nd of July. By the afternoon, we get clean, offshore conditions from the SSW with a 7ft SW swell. The period is a moderate 11 seconds. The energy is moderate at 1538. This could be a really clean session for experienced surfers, with nice lines and no wind to mess them up. A great option if you can wait.

Then, Friday the 24th of July is the pick of the second week. The morning brings a moderate offshore breeze from the SSW, a solid 7ft SW groundswell with a long 16-second period, and excellent, clean conditions. The energy is strong at 2422. This long-period swell will really wrap into Left Point, offering some proper, powerful waves. The afternoon is just as clean with a light cross-off breeze. This is a serious standout for experienced crew.

The final few days of the forecast, the 25th to the 26th, fade back into marginal, onshore slop around 5ft–6ft. Not worth chasing.

So, the two true standouts are Tuesday the 14th for the big, clean conditions, and Friday the 24th for that long-period groundswell with offshore wind. The rest is a lot of waiting.

Stay stoked,
Rusty
