Table - best surf conditions forecast for Left Point over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, let’s talk about Left Point and what’s coming down the pipe over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you: the first few days are a total write-off. Sunday the 12th and Monday the 13th are a mess – strong, messy winds and big, crumbly surf. The combined energy is massive (3153 to 6593), but it’s just not working with the wind. Forget about it.
The real story starts to unfold on Tuesday the 14th. The swell is pumping in at 12ft to 13ft from the WSW with a super long period of 15-16 seconds. That's serious groundswell energy (12333!). But here’s the catch – it’s way too big for this break. This is only for absolute experts. For everyone else, you’re sitting on the beach. The wind is a fresh cross-shore, so it’s lumpy, but the raw power is there.
The good stuff finally shows up on Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th. On Thursday morning, we’ve got a clean 7ft swell from the SW, period of 14 seconds, with a light cross-offshore wind. The energy is still solid (1807). The conditions are described as excellent for experienced surfers – this is a standout. Thursday afternoon gets even better: glassy clean 7ft waves with barely a breath of wind. Beautiful.
Then Friday the 17th afternoon is your real gem. The wind goes completely glassy, dead calm, with a clean 7ft SW swell at 16 seconds. The energy is 2290. That’s a perfect window for Left Point. This is the best on offer in the whole 16-day run. Get on it.
The rest of the week into the weekend fades out. Saturday the 18th afternoon has a smaller, glassy 5ft swell, but it’s weak (632 energy). After that, from Sunday the 19th all the way through to Wednesday the 22nd, it’s mostly poor, with choppy onshore winds and small, weak surf. A long gap of nothing.
There’s a little flicker of hope on Thursday the 23rd afternoon with a clean 4ft SW swell, but it’s tiny. The real second-week highlight is Friday the 24th afternoon. We’ve got a clean 4ft SW swell with a very long period of 19 seconds and a light offshore wind. That’s a long-period groundswell, and it’ll set up nicely at this point break. The energy is 1526. It’s a promising call for a week and a half out, so keep an eye on it.
The last weekend of the 25th and 26th sees a bit more size (7ft) but with cross-onshore winds and chop, so it’s not great. And the final day, Monday the 27th, is just a messy, windy, short-period 7ft close-out. Not worth your time.
Bottom line: If you’re an experienced surfer, Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th are your days. The absolute standout is Friday afternoon – glassy, clean, and solid. That’s the one.
Rusty.
