The Lowdown
Alright, this is Rusty checkin' in from the local line-up. Let's get into it.
We've got a bit of a slow start, but the long-range forecast is looking like a proper swell window for Left Point. The first few days are a write-off, but don't let that get you down. The real action starts building in the back half of the outlook.
Friday the 17th is a bit of a tease. We've got a solid 7ft SW groundswell (16 seconds) rollin' in with a massive 2284 combined energy, but the morning is a right-off with a cross-onshore breeze messin' it up. The afternoon, however, is where it's at. The wind drops to a glassy WNW breeze, and that same 7ft swell cleans right up. That's a proper session. It's a bit inconsistent, but when a set rolls through at Left Point, it'll be worth the wait. Keep an eye out for the odd crew, it can get crowded here.
Saturday the 18th is a step down. The swell drops to 6ft, and the morning is cross-on again. The afternoon cleans up to glassy conditions with a 5ft SW swell, but it's not the standout. Sunday the 19th through to Thursday the 24th is mostly a write-off. We're talkin' choppy, messy, onshore winds, with the swell bouncing between 3ft and 8ft, but the wind is just howlin'. It's not worth paddlin' out. The water temp is about average for the time of year.
Now, here's where it gets good. From Friday the 25th of July onward, we're on. The swell starts to pump properly. Saturday morning the 25th brings a 10ft SW swell with a clean offshore wind, and the combined energy is a massive 5002. That's expert territory, but it looks incredible. The best of the best, though, is Thursday the 30th of July. The afternoon session is an absolute standout. We've got a 10ft SW groundswell (16 seconds) with a clean offshore breeze, and the combined energy is a staggering 8214. That is a world-class, heavy, powerful wave for experts only. If you have the skills, you will not miss that.
The 27th of July is also a cracker, with a 10ft SW swell and offshore winds, solid energy (4451). It's a close second to that 30th. The very end of the run, the 31st, has a glassy afternoon on a 7ft swell, but by then the big swell has backed off a bit.
So, to wrap it up: the first week is a bust. The big winner is Thursday the 30th of July afternoon. The Saturday the 25th and Monday the 27th are also heavy hitters. Get ready for a proper run of surf.
Rusty.
