Alright, Rusty here. Let’s get into it.
Overall, the next 16 days are looking pretty average for Tallebudgera, with the real standout action buried in the second week. The surf is mostly too raw for this spot, being a breakwater that needs a very specific, clean window to really shine. It’s a tough call for an advanced crew only.
We kick off Monday the 6th of July. No good right now. It’s pumping a solid 10ft of SSE swell, but that’s coming with a gutless 8-second period and a strong cross-shore wind. The water is a mild 71°F and feels about normal for the time of year. Wave energy is massive (1512), but it’s just a messy, blown-out affair with marginal tide concerns.
That same windy, messy pattern hangs around through Tuesday and Wednesday. The swell actually pushes up to 12ft on Tuesday afternoon, and wave energy rockets to 2013, but at that size and period, it's a washing machine for a breakwater. It’s really only for the experts if anyone’s out, but the wind and chop are ruining it.
We start to see a drop on Thursday and Friday, but it’s still cross-shore and choppy with about 8ft to 8ft of swell. Nothing to get excited about.
Alright, here’s where we get a brief, promising window. On Saturday morning, the 11th of July, the swell drops to a more manageable 5ft from the SSE, period is a decent 10 seconds, but the real beauty is the glassy conditions – 5 mph offshore from the southwest. Suddenly the breakwater could get clean with some shape. Wave energy is moderate (526).
Sunday the 12th is also decent for a morning session. Swell is 4ft from the SE with an 11-second period, giving some real punch. The cross-offshore wind from the northwest will keep it clean. Wave energy is lower at 416, so it’s not powerful, but it will be surfable and pretty.
Then we hit a real lull Monday and Tuesday, with swell dropping to 2–2ft. Wednesday the 15th of July sees a pulse: 7ft from the south with a 9-second period, very clean with glassy cross-offshore winds, but that combined energy jumps to 1189, so it moves quick. This could be the best session of the whole run if you catch it right. But it’s a week and a half out, so we’ll see how it firms up.
The very end of the period into the 20th and 21st sees another drop, with small 4ft southerly swells fading to under 3ft. Mostly clean in the mornings but lacking any real power.
For the standout, it has to be Saturday morning, 11th July at Tallebudgera. It’s not big, but the glassy conditions and that 5ft SSE swell with a 10-second period are a perfect match for this breakwater. It will be clean and lined up when everywhere else is a mess. After that, Wednesday the 15th is the wildcard – bigger, punchier, and clean, but you’ll need that long-range forecast to hold.
