Kidds Beach Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here with the full 16-day look for Kidds Beach. This stretch has some real ups and downs, so let’s cut straight to it.

The overall pattern is all over the place. We kick off with a bit of a false start, and the first real standout doesn’t come until the second weekend. The mid-week window is mostly messy or blown out, but there’s a clean, glassy window on Saturday the 8th that you do not want to sleep on if you’re a confident surfer.

First recommendation comes in on Monday morning, August 3rd. Swell is 7 ft out of the ESE, period of 11 seconds, so plenty of energy (1164). This is solidly into expert territory—too big for beginners. Winds are light cross-off from the NE. It’s clean, but powerful. Afternoon drops to a tiny 2 ft SSW swell and turns cross-shore with a chop—go for the morning session.

Tuesday the 4th has a clean, light wind morning, but swell is only 2 ft from the SW. Not much to ride. Wednesday the 5th is glassy in the morning with a 1 ft SSW swell and a very long 15-second period. That long-period energy will make the weak waves more shapey and drawn out, but the size is tiny. Good for a longboard.

Thursday the 6th and Friday the 7th are messy. Onshore winds, chop, poor conditions. Friday afternoon has 22 mph cross-off winds from the NE but it’s still windy and the swell is dropping. Not worth it.

Best on offer: Saturday, August 8th. Morning session: offshore wind from the NNW at 12 mph, 4 ft swell out of the SSW, 14-second period (742 energy). This is clean, powerful, and well-shaped. Expect very good conditions. Afternoon goes glassy with 4 ft SSW swell and 14 seconds—dead calm (541). This is a near-perfect setup for experienced surfers. Crowds are possible here, but this kind of cleanliness is rare, so get it while it’s good.

Sunday the 9th gets a bit bigger but wind turns onshore by the afternoon, so Saturday is the clear winner.

The next week (Monday 10th onwards) is mostly poor. Rain, strong onshore winds, chop. Nothing worth getting excited about until Saturday morning, August 15th. That morning has a 4 ft SSW swell with a short 8-second period, clean with light cross-off winds from the NE. It’s a small beach break setup—short period means weaker, more crumbly waves, so it’s okay for a beginner-friendly session, but not a standout.

After that, winds pick up again and the swell drops, so the second week fizzles out.

Water temp is about average for the time of year—nothing unusual to report.
