Kidds Beach Surf Forecast and Surf Report

G’day, Rusty here. Let’s break down what Kidds Beach is serving up over the next couple of weeks. It’s a bit of a slow start, but once the wind and swell line up, there are some real gems.

Tuesday the 21st is the first proper session. Early morning is dead calm – glassy as can be – with a 4ft swell out of the southeast and a 11-second period. That’s a decent groundswell, giving the waves shape and power, and the calm air means it’ll be clean. The combined energy is moderate (738), so there’s enough kick. Kidds Beach is exposed to the SSW, so this southeast swell is a bit off-angle, but the consistency is enough to make it work. Water temp is about average for this time of year, nothing unusual. It’s an inconsistent break, so don’t expect non-stop action, but when the sets come, they’ll be worth it. For beginners, this is a solid option – the size is manageable and the conditions are smooth.

Wednesday the 22nd morning is another glassy one, with a 4ft swell from the SSW and a 13-second period. That’s a longer period groundswell, giving the waves more energy and longer lulls between sets. The combined energy is moderate (814), and with offshore wind it’ll be clean. A good follow-up to Tuesday, just a little more size.

The standout for the whole outlook is Friday the 24th. Early morning, glassy again, with a 6ft SSW swell and an 11-second period. That’s a solid, powerful groundswell pushing through. The combined energy is strong (1474), so there’s plenty of grunt. This is expert territory – 6ft is on the edge of too big for beginners, and the power means experienced surfers will get the best out of it. The crowd profile says “sometimes,” so expect a few others, but not a zoo. If you’ve got the skills, this is the session to circle.

Saturday the 25th morning is glassy again, with a 5ft SSW swell at 14 seconds. That’s a long period groundswell, smooth and clean, with moderate energy (1005). A bit smaller than Friday but still excellent for experienced surfers. The calm wind makes it a dream.

After that, it gets messy. From Sunday the 26th through the rest of the week, the wind picks up, the swells get choppy, and the quality drops. There’s a gap through to the end of July and into early August, with only brief clean windows. On Friday the 31st, the wind goes offshore in the morning and cross-off in the afternoon, with a small 3ft SSW swell at 12 seconds. The combined energy is weak (334), so it’s small but clean. Not a standout, but a nice little session for the patient.

The first week of August looks pretty flat. Saturday the 1st has a near gale offshore wind in the morning – too strong to get out – but the afternoon settles with a gentle offshore and a 3ft swell at 11 seconds. That’s small and clean enough for a longboard. After that, the swells drop to tiny sizes and the winds stay messy, so there’s not much to chase.

For the whole 16-day window, the best on offer is Friday the 24th morning: solid, powerful, glassy, and full of energy. The second best is Tuesday the 21st morning for a cleaner, more beginner-friendly session. The rest is a waiting game.
