The Lowdown
Alright, let’s break down the next couple weeks. For Cintsa East, it starts off pretty darn slow, like the first five days are a total washout. Nothing worth paddling out for. But then things start to stir.
Your first real chance is on Thursday, August 6th. Swell fills in from the SSW with a long, 14-15 second period, and the energy is strong (2594) by the afternoon. It's going to be a solid 8ft of groundswell, and the wind will be cross-off from the SW, keeping it clean. That afternoon is the standout – powerful and clean. The next morning, the wind swings onshore from the NE and will ruin it, so you gotta be there for that arvo session.
After that, the 8th has some clean but smaller surf. The 10th brings another bigger SSW pulse, but with strong SW winds, it will be a bit of a slog. The real hidden gem is the morning of Friday, August 14th. It's forecast to be totally glassy, with a clean 5ft of ENE swell. It won't be huge, but that glassy surface will make it some of the most user-friendly waves of the whole stretch. The period is short, so don't expect a ton of push, but it'll be fun.
You'll see the water temp is about 69°F, which is just about normal. Most days, the wind is choppy or cross, so there's a lot of lumpy conditions to wade through. But if you're keen, the 6th arvo for power and the 14th morning for cleanliness are your best shots. Otherwise, it's a waiting game.
Rusty out.
