Table - best surf conditions forecast for Victoria Bay over the next 16 days.

Alright, this is Rusty, checking in from the South African coast. We’ve got a solid run of surf ahead for Victoria Bay, so let’s get into it.

We’re kicking off this Sunday morning, the 12th of July, with a clean 5-foot SSW groundswell. The period is 11 seconds, giving it some nice push, and with glassy conditions from a light ESE breeze, the water is like a mirror. The combined energy is moderate (905). This is a good start for the weekend, with the swell direction right in the sweet spot for this exposed reef and point break. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.

Sunday afternoon sees the swell drop a touch to 5 feet, but the wind picks up and goes cross-on, making it a bit choppy. Not the best session.

Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th offer up some smaller, clean windows. Monday morning is glassy with 4 feet of SSW swell, and Tuesday afternoon has a glassy 5-foot ESE swell. These are fun, mellow sessions for the intermediate crew, but nothing to get too excited about.

Now, the real standout for the first week is Thursday the 16th. We’ve got a solid 8-foot SW groundswell rolling in with a very long 14-second period. The energy jumps up significantly (2337). The wind is glassy all day, so the waves will be absolutely perfect. This is a serious swell, over 8 feet, so this is for experienced surfers only. The combination of a long-period groundswell and a point break like Vic Bay is a dream. Expect clean, powerful, lined-up waves.

Friday the 17th gets bigger, hitting 10 feet from the SW, but the wind turns cross and cross-on, making it a bit of a mess. The energy is strong (2226-2308), but the quality drops. This is more of a challenge than a classic day.

We then have a bit of a lull in quality through the weekend and into Monday the 20th, with smaller, wind-affected waves. Tuesday the 21st is a write-off with strong cross-shore winds and rain. Not worth paddling out.

Looking into the second week, the real fireworks are set for Wednesday the 22nd through to Saturday the 25th of July. We’ve got a run of excellent, expert-level surf.

Wednesday the 22nd morning is a glassy 7-foot SSW groundswell with a 14-second period. Excellent conditions (2240 energy). Thursday the 23rd is a monster: a 10-foot SSW groundswell with a 15-second period (3611 energy). The wind is clean and cross-off in the morning, and glassy in the afternoon. This is the best on offer for the whole forecast. It’s massive, powerful, and clean. Experts only.

Friday the 24th is nearly as good, with an 8-foot SSW swell, 14-second period, and clean conditions (3785 energy). Saturday the 25th morning holds that 10-foot SSW swell with glassy conditions (3375 energy). The afternoon gets a fresh 19 mph offshore wind, which will groom the faces but make it tricky.

After that, the swell drops a bit on Sunday the 26th, and the wind picks up again, so the quality fades. The long-range standouts (Thursday the 23rd to Saturday the 25th) are the ones to circle on your calendar. They’re promising, but a week and a half out, we keep an eye on the forecast.

Remember, Vic Bay can get crowded, so get there early for the best of it.
