Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, let's get into it. The next couple of weeks are looking pretty active at Hullets Reef, with a solid run of SW groundswell. The water temp is sitting at 64°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year, so you might want a thicker spring suit.
We kick off Monday the 6th with a building 6 ft SW swell from a 12-second period, but it's a bit messy. The morning has a cross-offshore wind that's making it clean, but the scores are low because conditions are still a little raw. The afternoon gets worse with a cross-onshore breeze, so not the best time to paddle out.
Tuesday the 7th is where things start to click. The swell holds around 7 ft from the SW, still with a nice 12-second period. The morning sees a moderate cross-offshore wind, keeping it clean, but it's the afternoon that's the standout: a light offshore wind from the SW, clean faces, and the combined swell energy is pumping at 1266 (moderate to strong). This is the first real highlight of the week.
Wednesday the 8th sees the swell bump up to 8 ft in the morning with a 13-second period, but the wind is stronger, keeping it marginal. The afternoon brings a strong breeze, so things get a bit blown out.
Thursday the 9th is the start of a big swell episode. The morning has a solid 10 ft SW swell with a 14-second period, and the combined energy jumps to a massive 3862 (strong). It's cross-offshore and clean, but with that size and strong breeze, this one's only for experienced surfers. The swell stays big into the afternoon, but the wind stays fresh.
Now, the absolute best session of the entire forecast happens on Friday morning, July 10th. We get a 12 ft SSW groundswell with a 13-second period, and the conditions are glassy as can be – wind is a slight air from the NNE, and the combined energy is huge at 4339 (very strong). This is world-class size and perfection for experts. However, the afternoon on Friday sees a cross-onshore chop ruin it, and the weekend gets hammered by strong easterly winds with t-storms, so Friday morning is your only window for that big swell.
After that shaky weekend, the following week has some more good windows. Monday the 13th looks promising again with a 6 ft SSW swell, a light cross-offshore in the morning and a light offshore in the afternoon. Clean conditions and a moderate combined energy of 1070. Thursday the 16th afternoon is also a little gem: 5 ft SW swell, glassy offshore wind, and clean faces.
The long-range outlook for the second week (around the 18th-21st) is less reliable, but there's a promising early morning on Saturday the 18th with a 4 ft E swell and a light offshore, but the energy is low. The 20th and 21st show a return of a stronger SW swell (7 ft to 10 ft), but the wind is tricky with onshores and cross-onshores, so expect choppy conditions.
In short, don't miss Friday morning July 10th if you're a charger – that's the gold. Tuesday the 7th afternoon and Monday the 13th are your best bets for the rest of the crew.
