Table - best surf conditions forecast for Super Tubes over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming down the line for Super Tubes over the next couple of weeks.
The water is sitting at 64°, which is a bit colder than what we’d normally expect for this time of year, so don’t forget the extra rubber if you’re heading out.
The first week is a bit of a slow burn, to be honest. We’ve got some small background swell kicking around, but nothing that’s really going to get the heart pumping. Saturday the 11th sees a solid 8ft SSW swell, but with a cross-on breeze and a combined energy of 1952 (moderate to strong), it’s just not lining up right. The conditions are a bit messy and the tide is questionable, so I’d give it a miss.
Sunday the 12th is a bit cleaner early on with a 6ft SSW swell, but there’s not enough juice behind it to make it worthwhile. The energy drops to 974 (moderate), and it’s still a bit scratchy. Monday the 13th, the swell drops right off to 4ft, but we get a bit of glassy action in the morning on a NNW wind. It’s small, but it’s clean. You might get a few fun ones if you’re desperate.
The real action starts to build on Thursday the 16th. That’s where we’ve got a standout. A 10ft SW groundswell (14 seconds) is pushing in with a combined energy of 3606 (strong). The wind is light and clean, staying offshore on the Thursday afternoon. This is a proper session for experienced surfers only – that size at Super Tubes is no joke. It’s going to be hollow and powerful.
Friday the 17th is even bigger, with 15ft to 13ft SW swell, but the wind picks up to 15 mph from the WSW in the morning, making it a bit hairy. The afternoon looks better, with a gentler offshore breeze and clean conditions. The energy is massive at 4878 to 5932. This is heavy, expert-only territory.
We get a bit of a lull over the weekend of the 18th and 19th. The swell is still there, but the wind turns onshore and the quality drops right off. Sunday the 19th afternoon looks a little cleaner with a glassy spell and a 5ft SSE swell, but it’s nothing special.
Now, if you’re looking for the true highlight of this entire outlook, you’ve got to circle Thursday the 24th. That morning, we’re looking at a 16ft SW swell with a period of 17 seconds – that’s very long period groundswell. The combined energy is a massive 13832 (very strong), and the wind is a gentle offshore from the WSW. This is the kind of day that makes you call in sick. The wave quality is going to be exceptional, but it is strictly for experts. The afternoon stays solid at 15ft with a 16-second period and energy of 10531. It’s the best on offer, no question.
After that, things start to ease off. The 25th looks bumpy with onshore winds, but Sunday the 26th has a nice glassy morning with a 7ft SW swell. A good way to finish the run.
The only spot that’s really worth talking about is Super Tubes itself. It’s a reef and point setup, very consistent, and it’s only going to work for the crew who know what they’re doing. Crowds are often an issue here, so get in early on those standout days.
So, to wrap it up: the first week is mostly small and average. The big standouts are Thursday the 16th and Thursday the 24th. The 24th is the absolute winner – a proper, world-class swell with perfect wind. Don’t sleep on it.
Rusty.
