Table - best surf conditions forecast for Super Tubes over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cookin' over the next couple of weeks.
We’re starting off solid at Super Tubes. This spot is a reef and point break, very consistent, and it handles a SW swell like a champ. The water's sitting at 64°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year – you'll want a decent wetsuit, not just a spring suit.
The action kicks off Wednesday morning, July 8th. We've got a solid 8ft SW groundswell, with a long 13-second period pushing a heap of energy through (1915). A clean, moderate offshore breeze from the W is gonna keep those faces nice and smooth. This is proper, powerful surf, so it's for experienced crew only. The afternoon sees the swell jump to 10ft, but that wind gets up to a fresh 35 km/h, which will make it a bit wild.
Thursday, July 9th is the real standout. Morning session is firing with a 12ft SW swell at 14 seconds – that's serious energy (4560) and proper groundswell. Winds are a clean offshore from the WSW at 25 km/h. This is big, powerful, and clean. Again, experts only. The afternoon backs off a touch on the wind, but the swell holds.
Friday, July 10th is another beauty. The swell stays solid around 12ft from the SSW, and the wind goes light and glassy – a mere 10 km/h offshore in the morning and cross-off in the afternoon. That's about as clean as it gets for this much juice. The energy is still massive (4514 in the morning). These two days are the best on offer.
The weekend takes a turn. Saturday, July 11th, the wind swings onshore from the E, and the swell drops. Sunday is a write-off with onshore winds and poor conditions.
There’s a few small, clean days Monday, July 13th and Tuesday, July 14th, but the swell is tiny (4ft to 4ft). A bit fun for a longboard, but nothing to get excited about. After that, a big lull comes in from Wednesday, July 15th all the way through to Wednesday, July 22nd – almost a full week of flat to small, poor quality surf.
Now, looking long-range, there’s a massive pulse of energy due Thursday, July 16th and Friday, July 17th. We're talking a 13ft to 15ft SW swell (energy readings above 6700!) – that is serious, heavy water. It's tied to strong offshore winds, which will make for clean but incredibly challenging conditions. This is strictly for the big-wave chargers, and it's far out, so treat it as a promising but uncertain prospect.
After that, the swell settles back into the 7ft to 10ft range around Saturday, July 18th through to Wednesday, July 22nd, with some glassy windows. The best of that second week looks like Wednesday afternoon, July 22nd, with a 10ft SSW groundswell and clean cross-off winds, and then Thursday morning, July 23rd with an 8ft SW swell and light offshore breeze. Good waves for the experienced, but don't book your flights just yet.
This stretch has a serious run of big swell and clean conditions in the first week, then a big dead spot, then another huge but uncertain pulse. Keep an eye on the charts.
Rusty.
