Table - best surf conditions forecast for Super Tubes over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at the forecast for Super Tubes. This is a spot that knows how to handle a good southwest groundswell, and over the next couple of weeks, we’ve got a real mixed bag coming, with some absolute cannonball days to look forward to.
We're starting off a bit slow. The first few days are a bit of a write-off, with messy onshore winds and not much push. The water’s sitting at 64°F which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year, so you’ll want that extra layer.
The real action starts to build on the 16th of July. Thursday morning is where it kicks off proper. We’re looking at a solid 10ft of southwest swell, with a period of 14 seconds, and the combined energy is a massive 2842 (moderate to strong). The wind is glassy, NW at 3 mph. This is proper, powerful groundswell. It’s going to be a big one, only for experienced surfers, but the conditions will be excellent. That afternoon holds up just as well with 8ft and clean offshore winds.
The 17th of July is another standout. Friday morning is looking at 10ft again, slightly shorter period at 12 seconds, but with a clean 12 mph offshore from the WSW. The energy is still up there at 2693. It’s going to be a bit of a battle getting out, but the payoff will be huge. The afternoon goes glassy again with 8ft, so if you can get out, it’ll be magic.
After a bit of a rough patch on the 18th with strong onshore winds, the 19th sees a return to clean conditions. Sunday morning is a very good option for a smaller day, with 4ft of southwest swell, light offshore winds, and a combined energy of 701. It’s much more manageable.
The next real standout window is the 22nd of July. Wednesday morning is a beast. 10ft of SSW swell, 14 second period, and the energy reading is 3869 (strong). The wind is glassy. This is about as good as it gets for the experienced crew. The 23rd of July also holds excellent conditions with solid 10ft swell and clean cross-offshore winds.
Now, looking way out to the 24th and 25th of July, we’ve got some massive numbers on the board. The 24th of July shows a 15ft southwest swell, but the winds are messy cross-on or onshore, so the quality will be compromised. The 25th of July, however, is a late call that looks promising. Saturday morning has 13ft of SW swell, a 15-second period, and a huge energy of 6165. The wind is a light cross-offshore, and the afternoon goes glassy. This is the kind of swell that will have the point working perfectly, but it’s only for the brave. The 26th of July looks like a top-notch continuation, with 12ft swell and glassy to gentle offshore winds. The 27th brings it back down to a more manageable 6ft, still with excellent conditions.
For the best of the best, I’d be locking in the 16th of July (Thursday) morning for the first big, clean groundswell, and the 22nd of July (Wednesday) morning for the next pulse of solid, glassy waves. The 25th of July (Saturday) is the one to watch for the biggest swell, but it’s a long way off, so keep your fingers crossed.
Rusty.
