Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, let's get into it. Surf's been pumping at Super Tubes and it's gonna stay that way for a few days. This is a proper reef and point setup that loves a solid SW swell, and that's exactly what we've got lining up. The water temp feels pretty average for this time of year, nothing unusual there.
The action kicks off on Tuesday, July 7th. Morning session is looking clean with a light offshore wind from the W, and the swell is sitting at a solid 7ft from the SW, with a 12-second period. That's proper groundswell with good energy. It's an excellent call for the experienced guys. The afternoon holds up too, just a touch smaller at 7ft, wind goes light cross-off, still clean.
Wednesday, July 8th, is a standout. The morning has that 8ft SW swell with a 13-second period, and the offshore wind is light and clean. The energy is really building. This is the best of the first block – powerful, lined-up waves for the crew that knows what they're doing.
Thursday the 9th, the swell cranks up to 12ft. That's big, expert-only territory. The morning has a moderate offshore wind, but the raw power is something else. The afternoon cleans up with the same size and a light offshore, making for an intense but excellent session for the brave.
Friday the 10th, the swell holds at 12ft, but the morning is the clear winner. Glassy conditions with a light offshore from the W, 14-second period, and a massive energy reading. That's the biggest, cleanest, most powerful swell of the window. This is the true standout. The afternoon gets a little funky with light rain and a cross-shore wind, still big but not as perfect.
By Saturday the 11th, the swell drops to 8ft, but the wind swings onshore from the E. Things get messy. Sunday the 12th is a write-off with rain showers and onshore wind, swell down to 6ft. Monday and Tuesday are flat and poor, barely a ripple.
There's a bit of a gap here with nothing much of note until Wednesday, July 15th. The morning brings a 8ft WSW swell, but the period is only 8 seconds – that's a short period windswell, not the same quality. Afternoon gets absolutely hammered by 31 mph offshore winds. Not fun for paddling.
Thursday the 16th, the quality returns. A 10ft SW swell with an 11-second period, and a fresh offshore wind. That's a powerful, clean session for the experts. The afternoon holds at 8ft with moderate offshore winds, still excellent.
Friday the 17th is a no-go, onshore wind and dropping swell.
But hold onto your board for the weekend. Saturday, July 18th, the afternoon turns glassy with a 8ft SW, 13-second groundswell. Perfect conditions. Then Sunday, July 19th, is a dream – dead calm, glassy, 8ft SW swell with a 12-second period. That's the second big standout of the outlook. Two days of flawless, powerful reef waves for the advanced crew, with almost no crowd factor to worry about if you get out early.
After that, the swell fades into the following week. Monday the 20th drops to 4ft, onshore, not great. Tuesday the 21st is small and weak, and Wednesday the 22nd gets blown out again.
So overall, the best bets are this Thursday and Friday morning for the biggest, cleanest power, and then the glassy weekend sessions on the 18th and 19th of July. The rest of the run is either too big, too small, or too windy to be worth a paddle.
Rusty.
