Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, surfers, Rusty here. Let’s look at what’s brewin’ at Super Tubes. It’s a long stretch, but there’s a real gem in there with a lot of flat spells around it.
Water temp’s at 64°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year—bring the thick wetsuit.
The week starts messy. Through the first few days of July, we’ve got size but also strong, funky winds. First real chance to get wet without gettin’ thrashed is late Sunday the 5th. The wind goes glassy, dead calm, with a small 5 ft swell from the SE, period 11 seconds. Energy’s weak (888). It’s clean, but nothin’ to write home about.
Monday the 6th is better—7 ft SW swell, 12-second period, and clean cross-offshore winds Monday afternoon with only 5 km/h breeze. Energy’s moderate (1346). It’s good, but again, wait for the main event.
That main event is Thursday the 9th, morning. Swell hits 15 ft from the SSW, period 15 seconds—that’s very long-period groundswell. The wind is glassy, absolutely dead calm. Combined energy is a whopping 8662. This is expert stuff—anything over 8 ft is for the experienced crew. The direction (SSW) matches the optimum (SW) for this reef-and-point break. It’ll be clean, powerful, and crowded. This is the standout, no question.
After that, it’s rough. Friday the 10th brings onshore winds that trash it, then a long gap of weak, messy surf through mid-July. A solid week-plus where you’re just waiting.
Then, in the second week, there’s a late pulse worth a look. Thursday the 16th shows 13 ft to 15 ft from the WSW, with cross-offshore winds and clean conditions, but the period is shorter (10-11 seconds). Energy is strong (3370 to 4955). Friday the 17th keeps it going with 15 ft from the SW, a better 13-second period, and light cross-offshore winds (15 km/h). Energy is 6354. It’s promising, but it’s a long way out—note it and check back.
So, the 9th is your day. The rest is patient waiting.
Rusty.
