Table - best surf conditions forecast for Whacky Point over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. We’ve got a solid run of swell on the way for Whacky Point, but it’s not for everyone. This spot is a beach and point setup, and it’s inconsistent, so you gotta be patient and pick your windows. The forecast is all about one big pulse of energy, then a long-lingering drop-off.
The main event kicks off Thursday, July 9th, and it’s a big one. We’re looking at a powerful 10-foot SSW groundswell with a very long 13-second period. The combined energy is massive at 5065, so this is serious ocean. It’s an advanced-only zone, and with that size, it’s strictly for experts. Thursday morning has a moderate offshore wind from the WSW, keeping things clean for the crew that can handle it. The crowd factor is "sometimes," so expect a few chargers out there.
The swell stays solid through Friday, July 10th, with another 10-foot morning on tap from the SSW, but the period stretches to 14 seconds. The energy is still huge at 3055, and a gentle offshore wind keeps it lined up. Friday afternoon pulses up to 12 feet (6641 energy), which is absolute beast mode. This is the standout window for the experienced crew.
Saturday, July 11th, brings a brief reprieve in size, dropping to 7 feet, but the real story is the wind. The morning goes glassy with a light SSE breeze, and the 13-second period still holds a lot of grunt (1521 energy). That’s about as clean as it gets for a spot like this, making it the best pick for the less intense session.
After that, things get messy. Sunday the 12th is glassy again in the morning with 5 feet, but the energy drops to 729. The wind turns onshore and strong by Monday, July 13th, with a fresh NE breeze crippling the 3-foot leftover swell. The surf quality tanks completely. We’re looking at a long, dry spell from Monday the 13th all the way through the end of the period. There are a few tiny windows mid-week—like Wednesday the 15th afternoon with 5 feet and glassy conditions (358 energy)—but it’s marginal at best. The swell direction shifts to the East with a short 8-9 second period, so the energy is weak and the shape will be poor.
By the time we get to the 22nd of July, there’s a tiny pulse of 3-foot SW swell, but it’s not enough to get excited about. The whole second week is a battle against onshore winds and fading energy. Keep your eye on the charts, but for now, the only real game in town is that first weekend.
Rusty.
