Whacky Point Surf Guide

Whacky Point in East London is a quite exposed beach and point break that only works when conditions are just right. Summer in particular tends to be flat. Works best in offshore winds from the west southwest. Easily blown out by an onshore breeze Tends to receive distant groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the south. A fairly popluar wave that can sometimes get crowded Take care of rocks and sharks.

Kudos to everyone who helped us debug this over the past 3 months.

Be sure to click on the Advanced Surf option to see extra details about the sea-state. Look out for crossing swells and short period local wind swells and chop that will often spoil a groundswell even if the wind is perfect. As yet there is no allowance for this in the swell rating. This is something we are working on.
