Alright, let’s talk Doolin Point in the units you might know better. This is a reef break, expert only, fairly consistent, and open to the west. Water’s a touch warmer than average, around 61°F.
The whole 16-day stretch is a tough watch. I can’t find a single day I’d recommend. It’s pretty much a blank run.
Starting Monday the 6th and Tuesday the 7th of July – swell around 4 to 4 ft from the west, but with a short period of 8 seconds. Winds are onshore or cross-onshore, so the waves are chopped and messy. Energy is moderate, in the 163-191 range, but the quality is poor.
Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th – swell drops slightly to 3 ft, still west, period of 9 seconds. Gentle cross-onshore breezes keep it ragged and weak.
Friday the 10th – swell gets smaller, 2 to 4 ft, still onshore winds. Energy stays in the 200s, but the surface is messy.
From Saturday the 11th, it gets really small. Swell heights drop to 1 ft or less, and for days on end – from the 11th to about the 15th – we’re looking at waves of 0.3 to 1 ft. The wind is clean and cross-offshore, but there’s simply no swell. The energy drops to as low as 15-61 units.
From the 16th to the 20th, we’re stuck with tiny 0.7 to 1 ft waves, and the wind is picking up, making it lumpy and choppy. Not surfable.
On Monday the 21st of July, we see a puff to 4 ft from the WNW with a 9-second period and energy of 212. But the wind is cross-shore and onshore, so it’ll be a choppy mess.
In short, there are zero good options for Doolin Point in this whole period. It’s a quiet stretch for the area, and sometimes that’s just how it goes. Keep an eye on the forecast, though – it can turn around.
Rusty.
