Alright, let’s talk about Inch Strand.
The next couple of weeks here are pretty quiet overall. We start with a bit of weekend chop, then a stretch where things go really flat. There are two distinct windows that look rideable, but nothing huge—more like a longboard or funboard kind of vibe.
Sunday the 5th kicks off with some waist-to-chest high swell from the west, around 5ft, but the wind is onshore from the southwest at 6 mph. It’s messy, not worth paddling out for. Monday the 6th stays similar with waist-high leftovers and light onshore wind; not clean enough to get excited about.
Tuesday morning the 7th is the first real highlight. The wind goes glassy with a light westerly at 3 mph, and the swell settles to about 3ft from the west, period 9 seconds. That’s weak to moderate energy (187) but the clean, glassy surface will make the most of it. Great for a long, cruisy session on a log. The afternoon gets a light cross-onshore, so try to get the dawny.
Wednesday morning the 8th is another beauty. Glassy conditions again, with a light southwest air, swell 4ft from the west, 9-second period, and moderate energy (214). Surf is small but clean—perfect for getting a few fun ones.
Thursday the 9th morning is maybe the pick of the run. Flat calm, totally glassy, swell 4ft from the west at 9 seconds, energy up to 276. The offshore wind from the west-northwest (0 mph) will have the waves standing up nicely. It’s still mellow, but super clean and fun.
Friday the 10th sees the swell drop right off. Morning has 3ft from the west, 8-second period, light cross-offshore north wind—clean but weak energy (142). Afternoon is even smaller, 3ft. Not a standout day.
Then from Saturday the 11th right through to Wednesday the 15th, it’s flat. Tiny waves of 0.3ft to 0.7ft, with some long-period energy that doesn’t translate into anything rideable. This is a long flat gap of about 4 days where you won’t bother checking the ocean.
A little pulse shows up again on Monday the 13th. Morning brings 4ft from the west, 10-second period, clean with a light offshore east-northeast breeze. Energy is moderate (245). Tuesday the 14th morning is also glassy, similar 3ft west swell, 10-second period, moderate energy (240). Both are clean, small, and worth a paddle if you’re keen.
After that, from Wednesday the 15th onward, it’s back to flat or near-flat for the rest of the outlook. Very small waves, onshore winds, nothing worth planning around.
Inch Strand is a beginner-friendly beach break. The water temperature is about average for this time of year. With these small swells, it’s perfect for learners and longboarders. The consistent breaks aren’t really here this period, but those few glassy mornings in the first week are worth the early alarm.
Keep an eye on the forecast for the 13th and 14th—they might pick up a little more if things shift. Right now, the best day looks like Thursday the 9th morning. Clean, glassy, waist-high west swell, light offshore wind. That’s your window.
