The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what's on the menu for the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – the next few days are looking pretty flat and grim. We’re talkin' tiny piles of energy, combined energy readings in the low double digits, like 39, so honestly, don't even bother waxing up until later in the weekend. The water’s a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, coming in at 65°F with a 4°F anomaly, so it's not unpleasantly cold, just a bit flat.
We start seeing a glimmer of hope on Saturday afternoon, August 22nd, at Inch Strand. The combined energy bumps up to 124, and while the wave heights are still only 1ft from the SW, that 15-second period has some push. The wind is a light cross-off, so it's clean. It's only surfable, not epic, but it's a start. Then Sunday morning, August 23rd, gets a little better with a clean 1ft, a 14-second period, and a slight offshore breeze from the E.
The real promise starts to appear on Tuesday morning, August 25th. We've got 3ft from the west, a 9-second period, and a gentle offshore wind from the E. That’s going to be clean and fun for a beginner-friendly wave. The combined energy is 125 – moderate.
But hold onto your boardies, because the standout window is shaping up to be around Thursday morning, August 27th. We’re looking at 6ft of WNW swell, a 10-second period, and combined energy hitting 606. The wind is a light cross-off from the NNE, so it’s going to be clean. That’s a solid, surfable wave. This is the best of the whole forecast, no question.
Now, after that, things get a bit wild. The 30th of August looks like a big swell event, with a 10ft west swell predicted, but the guidance is shouting that it’s too big for this break. The energy is 1528, which is massive, but that’s for the heavy hitters only. The wind is light and cross, but that wave size is just too much for a spot like this. It'll be a washing machine.
And then we're back to flat and poor, with a big gap of nothing worth chasing until the first week of September rolls in, where it just turns into a mess of onshore wind and tiny surf.
So, to sum it up: get your best sessions locked in for Thursday morning the 27th of August. That's the day. The Tuesday before is a decent backup, but Thursday is the standout.
