Table - best surf conditions forecast for Boilers over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s break this down in old money for the next couple of weeks. It’s a real mixed bag, so don’t be in a rush.
For the most part, we’re looking at a long, quiet stretch to start. From Friday the 10th right through to Wednesday the 15th, it’s pretty grim. The swell is tiny, the wind’s all wrong, and the chop is just rubbish. You’d be wasting your time. The water’s sitting at 71°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that's about all the good news.
Things start to get a bit more interesting from Thursday the 16th. The swell picks up, but the wind stays messy. It’s not until Friday the 17th of July that we see a real glimmer of hope.
Friday the 17th morning – Boilers (reef)
This is your window. We’ve got a clean 6ft swell from the NNW with a period of 8 seconds. The real winner here is the wind – it’s glassy. Absolutely dead calm. That’s going to give us some proper clean waves. The energy is moderate (416), so there’s enough push to make it fun. It's a reef break, so it’ll handle that swell direction nicely. This is advanced territory though, and at 6ft, it’s getting a bit chunky for the less experienced. Crowds are sometimes a factor here, so you might want to get in early. This is hands down the pick of the bunch.
Thursday the 23rd & Friday the 24th – Boilers
The swell gets even bigger later on, with Friday the 24th seeing a solid 8ft to 10ft swell from the NNW. The energy is strong to very strong (954-1253). But the wind is cross-on and onshore for most of it, which will chop it up. It’s big, it’s powerful, and it’s only for experts. That 10ft mark on Friday afternoon means only the most experienced should even look at it.
Saturday the 25th morning – Boilers
One last chance before the window closes. A 6ft swell from the NNW, but this time we get a light cross-offshore wind from the SSE. That’s a clean look. The energy is moderate (408). It’ll be a solid, punchy wave on the reef. If you missed the 17th, this is your backup.
So, to wrap it up: the first week is a write-off. Your standout is the morning of Friday the 17th for that rare glassy, clean surf. Keep an eye on the bigger swells from the 23rd onwards if you’re an expert, but the wind will be fighting you.
Rusty.
