Table - best surf conditions forecast for Boilers over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for the coming weeks.
Right off the bat, the water temp is sitting at about 69°, which is pretty much spot on for this time of year, so no surprises there.
The first real window of opportunity at Boilers is the morning of Monday the 13th. We’ve got a clean, glassy start with a light SSW breeze barely touching the water. There’s a NW groundswell rolling in at 4ft with a 9-second period, and the energy is moderate at 208. It’s not huge, but for a reef break that likes a WNW direction, this is a solid look. The sets will have a bit of push, and with the wind being glass, it’s going to be clean. It’s a very consistent spot, but it’s for advanced surfers only, and it can get crowded sometimes, so get out there early.
After that Monday morning window, things get ugly. A strong NW wind kicks in for the afternoon, and the rest of that week turns into a write-off with cross-shore chop and lumpy conditions. The swell sticks around, but the wind just ruins it. Saturday the 18th looks like it’s going to be a messy, blown-out mess.
The next real standout doesn’t come until Sunday the 19th in the morning. We’ve got a clean, cross-off breeze from the SE, which is a major positive for Boilers. The swell is 5ft from the NNW, still a 7-second period, and the energy is moderate at 284. It’s a big step up from the week before. The wind is light, the conditions are clean, and it’s going to be a fun morning. The afternoon gets messy again with a cross-onshore wind, so it’s a morning-only call.
After that, we hit a dry spell. From Monday the 20th through to Saturday the 25th, the surf is either too small, too weak, or blown out. There’s a couple of glassy mornings (like Wednesday the 22nd and Friday the 24th), but the swell is tiny—around 3ft to 3ft—with weak energy (under 100). It’s surfable if you’re desperate, but it’s not worth paddling out for.
The final and best window of the entire forecast is Sunday the 26th in the morning. Again, we’re looking at glassy conditions with a light NW breeze. The swell has bumped up to 6ft from the NNW, 7-second period, and the energy is moderate (293). It’s the same clean, glassy setup we saw on the 19th, but with a touch more size. The reef will handle it well. After that, the wind picks up again, and the following Monday the 27th and Tuesday the 28th mornings are marginal to cross-shore, but nothing worth getting excited about.
So, the two standout windows are the mornings of the 13th and the 19th, and the absolute best of the bunch is the morning of Sunday the 26th. That’s the one to circle. Everything else is a battle with the wind or too small.
Rusty.
