Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a good, hard look at what’s cookin’ for Boilers. I’ll be straight with ya – this ain’t a pretty picture for a while.
We’re lookin’ at a real dry spell to kick things off. From Monday the 6th right through to Thursday the 10th of July, the surf is just not happening. You’ve got tiny, weak waves and all sorts of messy wind. Don’t bother paddling out – it’s a waste of a morning. There’s a solid 4-day gap of absolutely nothing recommended.
The water’s sitting at 67° – a bit cooler than average for this time of year, so you’ll want that wetsuit. The combined energy is barely a whisper at 46 (weak) on Monday morning, and it just gets knocked around by the wind after that.
Now, we finally get a tiny window of hope on Friday morning the 10th. It’s still small – only 3 ft from the NNW. But the wind goes glassy from the NW. The swell period is short at 5 seconds, so there’s no real punch, and the combined energy is a weak 93. It’s surfable, but only just. The afternoon chops right back up, so that dawn patrol is your only real shot. Boilers is a reef, very consistent, and open to the WNW, which is not matching that NNW swell direction, so shape will be ordinary.
The weekend and into the next week, the size starts to creep up. By Sunday the 12th of July afternoon, we’ll see 5 ft from the NNW with the energy climbing to 226 (moderate). But the wind is a fresh cross-shore at 19 mph, turning it into lumpy, choppy junk. Not worth it.
Monday the 13th of July morning is similar – 5 ft from the NNW, 7-second period, energy at 238. Cross-shore air from the north at just 6 mph. The wave comment calls it marginal, and it is. You could get a couple, but it’s more frustrating than fun.
The best of a bad bunch? I’m lookin’ at Tuesday the 14th of July. Swell hits 6 ft from the NNW, period still short at 7 seconds, but the energy is up to 350 (moderate). The wind is light and cross-shore from the NNW in the afternoon. It’s still cross to the optimum WNW swell direction, but there’s some decent push. That’s expert-only territory at 6 ft on a reef that doesn’t love this angle, so don’t even think about it if you’re not solid.
After that, it stays bumpy and mediocre. Wave heights hang around 3 ft to 5 ft with poor wind. There’s a small moment on Sunday the 19th of July morning – 3 ft from the NNW, 8-second period, glassy from the north. Combined energy at 154 (moderate). That’s another dawny possibility, but again, no standout quality.
Honestly, there’s no true standout here. If you’re desperate, Friday the 10th morning for the cleanest conditions on tiny waves, or Tuesday the 14th if you’ve got the skill for a bigger, messier, more powerful swell. But don’t hold your breath.
Keep your eyes on the forecasts, it can change.
