The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's tap into the charts for the coming weeks. We're looking at a spot called Boilers, a very consistent exposed reef break that's best with a WNW swell. The water is sitting right around 70°F, which is just about bang on normal for this time of year, so no surprises there.
The story for the next week is a bit of a grind. We get a bit of a pulse mid-week, but the wind is a problem. On Wednesday the 19th, we've got a 3-foot swell coming from the NNW, but the wind is cross-on and there's a combined energy of only 123. It's choppy and messy. That same theme carries through Thursday and Friday. The swell bumps up to around 5 feet to 5 feet, but the wind stays cross or cross-on, with energy levels climbing to 224, but it's still lumpy. Saturday the 22nd gives a little hope with a light cross breeze and 5 feet of swell (286 energy), but it's only marginal. Sunday is more of the same.
We start to see a bit more promise into Monday the 24th, with a longer period swell coming in at 11 seconds from the NW, pushing 4 feet of swell and 424 energy. The wind is still a cross-shore, so it's okay, but not clean. Tuesday the 25th is a tease with a light breeze and 5 feet of swell, but the energy drops to 305. Honestly, the whole first week is a lot of "marginal" and "poor" tags. The wind just won't give us a break.
Then, look ahead. The real standout of the whole run is shaping up for Friday, August 28th. The morning session is the one to circle. The swell is pumping at 8 feet from the NNW, with a solid 737 energy. The real kicker is the wind: a light breeze from the NNE, cross-off, and the call is for clean, very good surf. This is the best window of the entire outlook. The swell is a bit on the bigger side, pushing into expert territory, but Boilers is a reef, and with those clean conditions, it's going to be on.
After that, Saturday the 29th is a maybe, but Sunday the 30th has another gem. The morning of the 30th sees a 7 feet NNW swell, 642 energy, and the wind goes glassy with a light SW breeze. That's a major positive. It's going to be clean and lined up. The swell is still solid, so again, not for the faint of heart, but for those who can handle it, that Sunday morning is a serious option.
The very end of the run, into September, has a couple of glassy mornings, like Wednesday the 2nd, with a 7 feet swell and 498 energy, but the consistency of the good windows is low. The 16-day window has a lot of wind-affected days, but the two true standouts are the mornings of the 28th of August and the 30th of August. Get those locked in.
Rusty.
