Table - best surf conditions forecast for Boilers over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s break down what’s coming our way for Boilers.
Right off the bat, the first week and a half is a write-off. We’re looking at weak, short-period wind swell, mostly from the NNW, but the wind is ruining it. Nearly every morning and afternoon session from Thursday, July 9th through to Wednesday, July 15th is plagued by cross-shore or cross-onshore winds, and the combined wave energy is pitiful – mostly in the 44 to 139 range. It’s just not worth paddling out. The water temp is sitting at 70°, which is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
The first real glimmer of hope comes on Friday morning, July 17th. We get a glassy morning with a swell from the NNW at 6ft, period around 7 seconds. The combined energy jumps to 384 (moderate), and the conditions are set to be glassy. That’s a solid window for a session, but it’s a short-lived one before the afternoon wind chops it up.
Then, Saturday morning, July 18th, delivers again. Another glassy morning, with a 6ft NNW swell, period 7 seconds, and an energy reading of 335 (moderate). This is a proper, clean option. The crowd situation at Boilers can be “sometimes” busy, so get out there early.
The real standout, the one to circle on the calendar, is the morning of Thursday, July 24th. The forecast is for a very glassy start, with a 7ft NNW swell, period 8 seconds, and a combined energy of 510 (strong). That’s pushing into expert territory at over 8ft, but for the advanced crew, that’s the best we’ve got in the whole 16-day window. Get in before the arvo winds ruin it.
The rest of the second week is a mixed bag of bigger swell but wrecked by afternoon cross-onshore winds, so it’s all about the early bird catching the glass.
So, to sum it up: the first week is garbage. The second week has a few clean mornings, with Thursday the 24th morning being the absolute champion. Don't sleep on it.
Rusty.
