Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Righto, let’s have a look at what’s lining up for Cronulla Point. The coming week is a bit of a mixed bag, but there are some proper windows of opportunity for the experienced crew, especially if you’re willing to wait for the right conditions.
The first few days are a write-off, to be honest. Friday and Saturday are tiny and messy, with weak energy and nothing really breaking properly. You wouldn’t bother paddling out for that.
Now, Sunday morning (July 5th) things start to change. A solid 10ft S groundswell rolls in with an 11-second period, and the wind is clean offshore from the SSW at 19 mph. The energy is strong, but with that size, it’s expert territory only at this point break. The water temp is about 65°F, which is pretty much average for this time of year.
The real standout starts Tuesday, July 7th. We’ve got a nice 7ft to 8ft SSE/SE swell with a consistent 10-second period, and the winds are offshore from the SW and S, keeping things glassy and clean. The combined energy is pumping, and it’s rated as excellent for experienced surfers. This is top-shelf Cronulla Point. The direction is coming from the SSE/SE, which is close to optimum for this spot. It can get crowded here often, but for this quality, it’s worth fighting for a few waves. The swell is right in that sweet spot for advanced surfers.
Thursday, July 9th, is another cracker with a 8ft S swell (9-second period) in the morning and a 7ft S swell (11-second period) in the afternoon, both under offshore winds. Strong energy, clean lines, and the point should be reeling. That is your other big shout.
After that, the surf fades back down to small, weak stuff from the 10th through to the 13th. There’s a bit of a gap before the next pulse. Then on July 15th, a massive S groundswell fills in, hitting 12ft on Wednesday afternoon with a 13-second period, and the combined energy is a beast. Too big for most, but if you’re an expert and you know the reef, Wednesday arvo and Thursday July 16th (10ft to 12ft, S/SSE, 13-second period) are going to be immense. The winds are light, and the point will be handling that long-period energy beautifully. Thursday afternoon has excellent conditions with clean 10ft S swell, 13-second period, and light breezes. That’s the big dog of the forecast, but it’s only for the very skilled.
Bottom line: For the best on offer, lock in Tuesday July 7th and Thursday July 9th for strong, clean waves that won’t completely max you out. If you’re chasing serious size and have the experience, the 15th and 16th of July are heavy but incredible.
