Table - best surf conditions forecast for Cronulla Point over the next 16 days.
G’day, I’m Rusty. Let’s break down what’s on the cards for Cronulla Point.
The next few days are nothing special. Thursday 9 July has 6ft swell from the SE at 10 seconds, with a cross-off wind and combined energy of 599. It’s marginal. Friday 10 July looks a bit cleaner with a light offshore breeze and 5ft SE swell, but the energy is still moderate (470–533). It’s okay, but not a standout.
Then comes a dry spell. From Saturday 11 July through Tuesday 14 July, the swell drops below 3ft and the energy tanks. Monday afternoon goes glassy but only offers 1ft. That’s a solid four-day gap with no real surf.
Wednesday 15 July sees a spike – 6ft in the morning and 8ft in the afternoon – but the period is short (7–8 seconds) and the wind is strong. The energy hits 699 in the afternoon, but the waves are poor quality. Not worth it.
Now, the good stuff. Thursday 16 July morning brings 15ft from the SSE at 10 seconds with a fresh offshore breeze. Energy is 3765 – strong. Friday 17 July holds 16ft SSE swell with a moderate offshore, energy at 4432. These are expert-only waves. The real standout is Saturday 18 July morning: 20ft from the SSE, 12-second period, light offshore wind, and a combined energy of 9412. The forecast calls it exceptional for experts. Cronulla Point is a point break, so that long-period groundswell will wrap in nicely. Crowds are often here, so expect a few others out.
Sunday 19 July still has massive swell (18ft) but the wind turns cross-on, making it sloppy. From Monday 20 July, the size drops. The 20th offers a clean 8ft SE swell in the afternoon, but by 21 July it’s back to 6ft and fading. The rest of the week stays small, with occasional offshore winds but low energy. The last real highlight is Thursday 23 July afternoon with 8ft S swell and a fresh offshore, but it doesn’t compare to the 18th.
The best call is the morning of Saturday 18 July – huge, clean, and powerful. Only for experts. If that’s too much, look for the smaller windows later in the second week.
Rusty.
