The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s headin’ our way at Bronte Beach. It’s been a bit of a flat spell, but we’ve got a pulse coming back.
We’re looking at a bit of a slow start, but the first real window of opportunity shapes up on Monday the 20th of July. Sunday the 19th is a write-off with that cross-onshore breeze and some messy energy, so just give it a miss.
Monday morning, July 20th, is where it starts to get interesting. We’ve got a clean 4 ft cross-offshore breeze from the WNW working beautifully with a 6 ft swell from the ENE. The period is a solid 11 seconds, so there’s some proper groundswell energy in the water. The combined energy is moderate at 778, and those conditions are lookin’ clean. This is your best bet for a decent session early in the week.
The quality holds up a bit on Tuesday morning, July 21st, with a similar pattern – clean 4 ft waves from the ENE and a light cross-offshore breeze. But it’s not got the same punch as Monday. Wednesday morning, July 22nd, offers a true offshore wind from the WNW, but the swell drops to 4 ft. Still, it’ll be clean and fun for a grovel.
Now, the standout. The real gem in this forecast is Sunday the 26th of July. Saturday the 25th is a bit of a lull, but Sunday morning we’re looking at a serious pulse. An 8 ft swell from the south with a 12-second period, and the combined energy is a massive 3264 – that’s strong, powerful stuff. The wind is a gentle cross-offshore from the SW, keeping it clean. This is for experienced surfers only; 8 ft is a big step up, and it’s a beach and reef setup, so it’ll be heavy. If you’ve got the skills, this is the session to point the board at.
After that, the swell backs off again. There’s a clean little window on Monday morning, August 3rd, but it’s a bit smaller and the wind is howling out of the SSW, so it’s not really worth getting excited about.
Water temp is sitting at 63°F, which is about 1°F cooler than the long-term average for this time of year. Nothing wild, just standard winter chill.
Overall, the best on offer is Monday morning, July 20th, for a clean, fun session, and then Sunday the 26th of July for the big, powerful, expert-only stuff. The rest of the window is pretty average, with a few clean but small mornings. The long-range stuff around the start of August is still a bit uncertain, but the Sunday the 26th is the one to circle.
Rusty, signing off.
