Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, let’s get into it. Gotta say, things are a bit of a mixed bag for Bronte Beach over the next couple of weeks. The surf starts off with plenty of size, but the conditions are gonna be your biggest battle. Let’s walk through it day by day.
The first recommendation kicks off on Tuesday, July 7th. We’re looking at a solid swell coming in from the SSE at around 9.8 ft, but the period is a short 10 seconds. That’s a lot of water moving around, and with a fresh cross-off breeze from the SSW at 18.6 mph, it’s going to be a bit of a wrestle out there. The combined swell energy is reading a strong 2203, so there’s plenty of power, but for advanced hands only. The water temp is sitting at 63.5°, which is about normal for this time of year – no surprises there. By the afternoon, the swell bumps up to 11.5 ft but the wind swings cross-shore and gets lumpy. Honestly, Tuesday is a day for the experienced crew if anyone’s keen, but don’t expect it to be pretty.
Moving into Wednesday, July 8th, the swell drops a touch to 8.2 ft in the morning, still from the SE with a 10-second period. The cross-shore wind is a moderate 12.4 mph, so it’s still going to be a bit choppy. The afternoon sees the swell down to 7.5 ft with similar conditions. Not much change, still a bit messy.
Thursday, July 9th sees the swell ease to 5.9 ft, which is a bit more manageable, but the wind is light and cross-shore or cross-onshore. The combined energy drops to around 832, so it’s easing off. Still not the cleanest, but the morning has a light cross-shore which might offer a few workable waves if you’re patient.
Friday, July 10th is where things start to look a bit more promising. The morning shows a 4.6 ft swell from the SE, with a light cross-off breeze from the SW at 6.2 mph. The energy is down to 431, but it’s clean. The afternoon is a bit smaller at 4.9 ft but with a light cross-onshore, so the morning session is definitely the pick of that day.
Saturday, July 11th is a good morning. We’ve got 3.6 ft from the SE, clean with a light cross-off breeze out of the NW at 9.3 mph. That’ll feel nice. The afternoon drops to 2.3 ft but with a longer period of 12 seconds from the ESE, and still clean with a light cross-off. Small, but clean. A good day for a longboard or a funboard.
Sunday, July 12th the swell drops right off. Morning has 1.6 ft with a moderate offshore from the west at 15.5 mph – clean but tiny. The combined energy is only 95. The afternoon is even smaller at 1.0 ft. This is the start of a proper lull.
From Monday, July 13th through to Sunday, July 19th, the surf is pretty much flat or very small, with heights mostly under 1.6 ft. The combined energy readings are mostly under 100, which is weak. There are a few moments of glassy or offshore conditions, but the swell just isn’t there to make anything of it. This is a solid gap of about a week with no real recommendations.
The next notable blip comes on Wednesday, July 15th. The morning has 2.6 ft from the south, with a gentle offshore breeze. The afternoon gets better – 3.3 ft from the south, and it’s glassy. That glassy wind is a rare treat, so if you’re desperate for a paddle, that afternoon might give you a few tiny, clean lines. The energy is still low at around 150, so it’s more of a cruiser session.
Thursday, July 16th sees a jump in swell – 7.2 ft from the south in the morning with a 13-second period. That’s a proper groundswell, and the combined energy jumps to 1584. The wind is a moderate cross-off from the SSW at 15.5 mph, so it’s clean, but that size and power are for the experienced only. The afternoon drops to 5.9 ft with a similar setup. This is probably the standout of the whole window for the bigger wave surfers if they’re keen. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best size and period combo we get.
After that, from Friday, July 17th onwards, it fades again. The swell drops to 4.6 ft and smaller, the wind gets light and messy, and the combined energy drops off quickly. By the weekend of the 18th and 19th, we’re back to tiny, weak surf under 3.3 ft.
Monday, July 20th and Tuesday, July 21st are poor, with small, short-period windswell in the 1.3 ft to 3.0 ft range. The
