Table - best surf conditions forecast for Bronte Beach over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Look, I’ll be straight with you – the next 16 days at Bronte Beach are a real mixed bag, and honestly, there’s a lot of dross to wade through before we get to anything worth paddling out for. The first week is mostly a write-off, with a few glimmers of hope in the second week, but it's a long wait.
The first decent surf on offer doesn’t roll in until Wednesday, 15th July. We’ve got a solid pulse of south swell pushing in, with wave heights around 8ft and a short period of 9 seconds. The combined energy is moderate (990). It’s a bit of a raw, lumpy beast though – the wind is a fresh cross-offshore breeze, so it’ll be clean but powerful. This is advanced territory for sure, and even then, it’s touch and go. The wave state is clean, but the surf is marginal; it’s more of a “maybe if you’re keen” than a standout.
The real standout, and the one you should circle on your calendar, is Sunday, 19th July. The wind goes glassy, absolute magic, with a light offshore in the morning. We’ve got a 8ft easterly swell with a long 11-second period, packing some serious energy (1426 – that’s a strong, punchy groundswell). This is for experienced surfers – the size is there, and the period is long, meaning it’ll wall up and offer good shape. For a beach break, that long period can make it a bit straight, but with glassy conditions, it’ll be a ripper. The water temp is 64°, which is about average for this time of year. Expect crowds here, as it’s a well-known spot and the conditions will be prime.
After that, Monday, 20th July, holds a 6ft easterly swell with a 11-second period, and a clean, cross-offshore northwesterly breeze. The energy is still strong (855). It’s a step down from Sunday but still a very good day for a surf.
Then it’s a long, slow fade. From Tuesday, 21st July, through to the end of the outlook, we’re looking at dropping swell, smaller waves, and a lot of poor to marginal conditions. Thursday, 23rd July, has a small 3ft easterly swell with a gentle offshore, but it’s tiny. The rest of the window is dominated by cross-shore and onshore winds, making for choppy, uninviting surf. The period from about the 21st through to the 27th is a real gap, with nothing worth chasing.
So, to sum it up: the first week is a bust. The one big standout is the glassy Sunday, 19th July, for experienced surfers only. The Monday after is good too, but a smaller option. After that, the waves pack up and go home. Keep your eye on the 19th.
Rusty.
